"I for, for one, wish to welcome our new reptilian overlords, and as a trusted propaganda officer, will assist them in recruiting other humans for work on the fly farms..."

You get a maximum of 136 FPS? No wonder I have such a hard time shooting you down! Your plane is traveling into the future even as you fly!!!
-
Thanks Roger. I am hoping there will be no issues (I've waited long enough for this) and want to spot any problems early so I can yell and scream and get it fixed. Finger crossed...

The last helicopter sim I played pretty regularly was "Hind" which I freakin' LOVED! It was the first sim I flew which had individual ground troops to strafe. SWEET! And the fact that you could land in the middle of a mission and reload was great. Landing was a real task, though.

My new rig is coming this week (supposedly). I'll list full stats later, but its a AMD Dual Core 4400+, 2GB RAM, Nvidea 7800 with 250GB Hard Drive. In addition to being much more of an editing machine, I am hoping it will make hosting that much smoother. Can anyone recommend some utilities to put the PC through its paces to make sure its put together properly? For example, to make sure the memory is not defective, etc... Thanks.

The post above is from me. It would not let me start the topic with my own screen name. So, do I need help?
-
This needs to be on the briefing screen of every mission hosted in the squadron!

Wow, that last image really shows the weathering effect. I wonder how much of a pain it was to get that effect?
-
Thats a good one...

Here's the next. Keep it up, troops!

Well, seeing as how I am the propaganda officer, I think I should do some propagandizing and all that. Here is the first in my series to help boost morale:

Okay, to both test it out and because I wanted the skin available for use, I uploaded a Nightfighter skin for Mosquito IV's by SeaNorris. I got it from Flying Legends. http://www.flying-legends.net/php/downloads/download.php?id=3353. I included the author name on the JPG image. Is this kinda what you had in mind? BTW, for those of you flying this Thursday, you might want to download this skin and put it in your skin folder for the Mosquito IV. I am using it for two of the missions we will be flying. [/img]

Roger, Okay, so as I understand it, you would like us to supply a descriptive graphic for each file we send; i.e. a screenshot from a mission I created. Do you need any other type of graphics? I am not an artist; I am talking photos, generic screenshots, etc...

I mean all of it, but the graphics have really come through. Distinctive, fitting and humorous all at the same time. I think we all appreciate the effort.

What Missions Would You Like to See?
DoubleTap replied to DoubleTap's topic in Missions and mission building
Folks, Finished a couple of Mozzie Missions, "Moonlight Mozzies" and "Night Terror" which will debut this Thursday. Both are night missions, obviously, but the first is anti-bomber night-fighter, and the second is the bush-whacking of German planes at their French airfields. When people have gotten to try them out and give some feedback, and I make any needed adjustments, I'll send them out to everybody. Came into some info (not much yet) about Mozzie's in the Pacific, and the carrier based models. Would like to do missions based on these when I get more info. If you can point me in a direction, much obliged. Along the eastern front, I'm looking to do more missions with the Allied supplied planes fighting with the Russian forces, particularly the P-40 and Hurricane. I know they are not the sexier planes on that front, but I think it would be interesting. Also, finished a revamp of the DF mission "Save The York!". Basically, the RAF and Luftwaffe square off for 30 minutes, during which the Germans need to sink the BB to win. Takeoff sites are closer than before, and there is now a RAF carrier solely for landing as per a K9r suggestion. Beauty of it is that if you get killed, you can respawn immediately, but of course, that takes time and you lose position. -
Yeah, go ahead and laugh, but that bayonet there he's holding...that's about the size of it, Gents, if you know what I mean. (Wink, wink, nudge, nudge). Besides, Cold Gambler, isn't your favorite pick-up, "You, uh, take checks?" ZING! HeyyyOOOOOOOOOOOoooo!

BTW: This is also very true. Its weird how comfortable I feel in the Finnish Buffalo. I find myself flying effortlessly in it compared to may planes. It just FEELS right, even though it is certainly not a top of the line aircraft. I also love the 185; it feels like a superb machine for me, even though its circa 1942.

Dave, Don't apologize. I appreciate the insight. I did not take your post as anything but good and much needed advice. And I don't mind a lecture from a person who knows what he is talking about (that would be you). I have seen you fly, remember? My point was/is that I know what you are saying, but getting it drilled into my head is tougher in the thick of things, as you say. Just last night, after telling myself I would NOT try to dogfight the Zero seaplanes in my Beau, I did it anyway, even though I held off for quite a while. I still have this need to turn and burn, even when I am in planes which are NOT designed for it at all. Bottom line, if "lecturing" means telling someone what they need to hear, then lecture away M8!

I wanted to bring up a couple of points relating to flying operations: 1) Flying Announcements Last night, someone (can't remember if it was Roger or Jim, or someone else) made a very good suggestion for making flying announcements on the board WITH the IP info for server and TS in Joint Operations. This was particularly true as sometimes email does NOT make it to recipients, either because of spam filters or gremlins, as happened on Thursday. I know we already have general announcements on the boards, but a) We can't post in on the public boards without everyone seeing it, We can't just put it in the DD board as it will not reach the HH. So, I second (third?) the proposal that flying announcements be made in Joint Operations by hosts in conjunction with an email announcement. Announcements should contain the following info: -Who is Game hosting -Their IP -The time (with time zone) DF server will be up, and the expected duration of host session -Who is TS hosting and the IP (Obviously this is usually the gracious Quaz, but just in case...) -Any Additional pertinent info (Hey! Patch 4.07m is out with flyable B-17's! Get it now!) 2) West Coast Flying BG and I were discussing the availability of flying hours for the West Coast pilots. We have early sessions on thursdays which work well for the UK pilots. This is possible because my schedule allows it, and because BG and Col Cup can usually host in my absence. In fact, it was started to make sure we have some flying available for our GMT friends. Obviously, in general, the weekend sessions work for everyone as there is more flexibility when all our time zones can fly. Then again, it IS the weekend and many of us usually have time conflicts there as it a time to get things done, spend time with family, etc. So, the question is, would there be interest in later hosting and flying for the west coast? For one, I could take over hosting on some saturdays (12am EST/9pm PST) for a few hours (3am EST/12am PST) IF there is a need and desire for it. It would be a good time for West Coasters, and even for other North America pilots if they are so inclined. In addition, perhaps someone on the West Coast, or with an appropriate schedule, could run a later session at other times. Hey, this is a good idea for a poll! LOOK ABOVE!

Well, this I need to have written on the top of my monitor in indelible black marker, no doubt. No argument there. I just find it frustrating that I will blow past a bogie in something like a P-38L, and I will find supposedly slower planes turning around and gaining on me even though I am still flying fairly horizontal and straight. Obviously not everything catches me, but I will read how the zero is supposedly slower than say, certain P-40 models, and yet get it keeps up or even gains.
-
Dave, How accurate do you find that thing? I have it, and I have tried some of the speeds listed and I never seem to get the same results, and I do trim out the aircrat. Some of the Japanese planes seem to go faster that he lists, and some other planes seem to go slower.

Care to explain Redeye? WTF is a team Banzai? Some kinky oriental thing that Doubletap would do? The only kinky oriental thing I would do is Ziyi Zhang -
