  1. Yeah, that too!
  2. Are they sucking or blowing?
  3. The Canadians are behind everyone!!.
  4. It does that, doesn't it. For $800 you would get a very nice machine. DDR2 RAM is dirt cheap those days. Unless you are planning on Vista which is currently not a good idea, any more than 2 gb is a waste. Just make sure you get a 512 video card and the X1950 Pro would be a good one to have.
  5. Definitely stay away from store built jobs like Walmart. Quazi will happily build one for you and use only quality parts with good upgrade capability. Just give him your buget and see what he comes up with. BTW is it SEOW that is making some of you guys looking to upgrade. LOL
  6. @ Sid, You didn't say anything about your tower. What do you have in mind?
  7. Don't kid yourself OB1. I bet Friar is up at the nunnery right now trying to find out which nuns were involved......... so he can enjoy!
  8. I see that some of the 768 Ultras are watercooled. I assume this means the watercooling is fully enclosed in the card and not plugged in to a water cooling system. This may solve any cooling issues with the Ultras. Needs some research maybe. I buy into Bad Aim's logic too but we are talking bragging rights here M8. I am going to Florida on February 18
  9. A man of action sir. Look forward to hearing how it all works for you.
  10. Sid, I saw this on UBI Zoo and thought you might find it of interest.
  11. I would be inclined to agree with Chris although an X1950 Pro might be overkill for your CPU. But you will definitely have a much better image and frame rates. Keep in mind you will need a 450 watt PSU to run it.
  12. Pooka, if you are nervous about going in to the bios, if you would like I can walk you through it on the phone.
  13. I just looked at that X1650 Pro again Nick and see it comes in 512mb memory. For the price, that thing really motors. Might be your best bet but don't settle for a 256mb version.
  14. In case you can't find the link to GPU reviews, here it is: http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php ... &card2=25#
  15. Nick, I have posted a comparison of the X1650 and the X1950 Pro. I know which one I would go for. When 4.09 goes final you will need a 512mb to take advantage of the long distance views. The Barton 3000 chip was a great CPU in it's time but you should be looking at dual cores and PCI Exp soon if you want to stay up with the pack. Buying a X1950 Pro would tide you over for a while. BTW, copy that link for GPU review and bookmark it. I couldn't live without it.
  16. I think I see the cause of your crashing Pooka. You have both sound card and on board sound enabled. You will have to go into your bios and look for integrated peripherals or something similar, and disable audio.
  17. Nick, I see you are using ATI's 7.11 drivers. The latest recommended driver for the ATI 700 is 7.4.for better frame rates. When you do a driver upgrade, do you run a driver cleaner? I always run Driver Cleaner Pro which you can get here:
  18. So it's not just my two dogs who do that. Good find SkyPup.
  19. Sid, that is a kick ass machine you are looking at. With the 2 x
  20. Sorry to hear you are still having problems Sid. You could discuss it in the Help Section, Hardware Hell or just continue here since you have started a thread.
  21. I would certainly let them do oil changes and stuff.
  22. Thanks Chris. I thought you were doing your telepathic thing again.
  23. Really quite amazing. I almost feel sorry for the poor sods. I would imagine there would be a fair amount of shrapnel.
  24. Have to stay with 4.08m for now until 4.09m goes final.
  25. Very nice work Okie and Bad-Aim. If you two guys ever get up to Canada I have a few jobs you can do. After you finiish digging some holes of course.
