Yes the BMP one is a bit raw, to say the least. Any human death is not to be celebrated or made a spectacle off (like Saddam for instance). However the other images were pretty well..err notable? On an aside, I got a great book today (well yesterday now) called 'Vulcan 607'. Looks like a fascinating and worthy read.

I need to compare your dxdiag outputs side by side, which I will endeavour to do tomorrow for you. nVidia control panel settings. This is your next area to concentrate on, it's late. The whisky has been good. Again I'll defer any further comment until tomorrow. Save to say your comment on a slide show running a particular co-op mission on TS earlier suggests, to me at least, that you may benefit from tweaking your Anisotropic and Anti Aliasing settings. I found that even with a 3700+ cpu, a 7800GTX GPU and 2Gb RAM that I got a slide show under certain circumstances. nVidia control panel has outstripped the capabilities of IL2, and will endeavour to offer more than IL2 can cope with. This results in smoke and explosions bringing your system down to it's knees. I will note and post the specific settings for you tomorrow.

As BG says, unzip it to a folder of your choice. Remember where and then browse to it and run the setup there. Reboot when requested and your drivers will should be up to date. VIA drivers do have the occasional blip though, which is why I asked you to repost your dxdiag when you have done the driver update. If it comes to it I am available on the 'phone if required. Jabo for instance spent some time on the 'phone with me today trying to sort out his hosting issue again. I too am UK Birdy - Cambridge to be precise. And I have an 0845 number which is the UK Dangerdogz help line LOL

100% cpu is normal when running IL2 - it's that intensive. I'll look at your dxdiag when I get a chance, big interview tomorrow with Reuters so studying right now.

Racing does look like fun. I tried the lights course yesterday, just because I could. I16 isn't man enough for the Job. Mig9 won't get off the deck. LA7 however great fun and it takes some skill to get some of those loops without doing prototype water cooling

Great post Glenn, so on the mark. Real life extends it's influence into our virtual flying, whilst the flying can be a welcome relief if we are distracted by RL then it can a frustrating experience and not provide the light relief we sought. But it can also be so immersing that during a dog fight, when you are either fighting to save your bacon, or manoeuvring feverishly to get the bogey in your cross hairs, that all else ceases to exist and only the pounding of you heart reminds you of your physical body . Perhaps it's just as well such moments come in short bursts!
