  1. Firstly, thank you Colin for another thoroughly enjoyable expedition in tons of metal. The following are IMHO More enemy in multi waves that may be force a withdraw and the need to resupply ammo and repair Perhaps like the P-38's players could have character names which may encourage life longevity If the enemy are there on the map but dormant until triggered could the trigger points not be a large circle around the enemy 2-3 km for static locations 5 km for rolling enemies and 10 km for airborne enemies Well hidden enemy awaiting in ambush (top camouflage) The re-spawn could be delayed - any long drive back across terrain to rejoin your unit should be made more difficult with enemy loitering to make life hard work and perhaps distract you team from their mission as they return to assist you. (nothing like a bi of peer pressure) 2 bobs worth I loved the sneaky Germans on Saturday night too. All in all the learning curve from the week before was steep but very obviously useful. The 2 units and radio channels worked very well. I heard FT's chat about not coordinating the final assault after the regroup. Fair shout I think. We had survived up to that point and had missed a chance to re-brief before kicking off for the final blast. I am sure that there is more but my brain is sleepy so I am off to my maggot. Cheers again Colin

  2. Hey all. I posted in the IL2 forums that I was looking for a place to fly, and Perfesser was the first to send me a message. So I hopped over here and had a look-see around, and I like what I see. Some background...33 years old, from West Virginia USA. Both grandfathers fought in WWII and I had the honor of knowing several other WWII veterans, so anything WWII is pretty much down my alley. Been flying sims since 1998. Was a part of the CFS Eagles squad for a decade, our fliers were a mix of UK, Canadian, and US members. Didn't really do a ton of combat with CFS, we had our own scenery packages and did hops from location to location and carrier landings in F-14 Tomcats. We moved onto the original IL-2 game in the early 2000's, then Pacific Fighters. I work a fulltime job plus run my own business at home, so my attendance would be basically whenever I can. Just looking for a good fun group to fly with and to have fun being a lead magnet. I own the IL2 Battle of Stalingrad, Kuban, Moscow and Bodenplatte. I also have DCS World and the newest MS Flight Simulator. Hope to see ya on TeamSpeak soon! Chaz

  4. Hey Chaz! You're very welcome here mate, any friend of Perf's is...well... you know. As I'm sure you are already aware, we're active in DCS and IL-2 Great Battles so hopefully we are already catering for the sims you fly! I'll send you a PM with our TS server details and you'll be able to get started straight away. One key thing to let you know is that we never 'expect' people to attend, real life has a habit of getting in the way of playing games, so whenever you can make it we'll be happy to see you. ~S~ Jabo

  6. 16 gig is not enough, get 32 (I'm actually thinking about upgrading to 64). Check the mobo to see if it has at least 2 m2 SSD slots. Only use m2 SSD drives (other than having maybe a back up drive). You'll get the best VR performance by having windows on one m2, and your VR games on another. FYI, intels 11th gen chips are just around the corner, and look very promising.

  8. I should say that's plenty Chris. Might be advisable to wait until the new 30 series nVidia cards are available though. Origin and Scan are also good and PCSpecialist are rated by some people (I have a record of spectacularly poor customer service from them but other Dogz seem happy so...) Available to chat if needed.

  9. more news mmmmmm Dear friends, So, here is the new year 2021! Like anyone else, we're going to hope that it will be better than the previous one. However, for IL-2 Great Battles, the last year was quite positive in spite of all complications. We hope that we'll build on this success this year - the plans are quite extensive. Let's start with the first in-game shots of the British fighter Hawker Typhoon Mk.Ib which is being developed for the Battle of Normandy. As you can see, it looks nearly complete, but in fact, there is still a lot to do - a hefty chunk of work is left on its cockpit instruments and the flight model. Nevertheless, we're expecting to finish everything before the end of this Spring and release it to all Battle of Normandy customers. Speaking of the Normandy map, the layout of the towns on its continental part is complete for the first iteration. A bunch of landmark buildings and a significant part of AI-controlled ground vehicles planned for Normandy are already done. We're researching the data for the Normandy Career mode. Meanwhile, the AAA trucks are also showing good progress - the GAZ-MM with the 72-K gun will be ready first. Its chassis is ready both in terms of the 3D and physical models while the crew animations and audio are being worked on. We've managed to find the authentic firing tables prepared by the Main Artillery Directorate of the Red Army and printed by the military publishing house of the People's Commissariat of Defense of the Soviet Union in 1943 and made the ballistics of the 25mm rounds and their armor penetration ability in various cases as close to the real thing as possible according to this data. We still have to research and recreate the really complicated correction system for the gunsights, that's what we're working on now while our partners at Digital Forms are creating the complex 3D model of the AAA gun itself as you can see on the screens below:
