@Squee7e It has the capability for you to fly many selections of A/C with a great feature , Dynamic spawning hot or cold with instant weapons loaded to your need for the mission.
-
Should i prepare a plane for that mission you selected? I feel like from what Fenrir said that the F-5 experience might be a bit underwhelming if the mission is tailored towards 4th gen fighters but i couldn't get much information about the mission details from the link you provided in the DCS server topic. It only says which features are supported by the scripts but nothing about the timeframe. I could prepare the F-15 or Su-27 from Flaming Cliffs

Friar see my other post. I would recommend you go to Leka's discord https://discord.gg/cshgmgXuxE Here is the newest and latest with updated versions. You can update them as you go with out effecting your achievement's in the mission. Lets face it when you have a DCS update, chances are something will get broken

Hi, guys. This is my take on foothold missions that we do in our evenings. They are a lot of fun. With persistence on, which auto saves as you go. There's so much to do for everybody and we work as a team, to take hold of areas and then quickly have to Support them by flying a helicopter or a HERC over, before it's taken back by red. ( and they can be aggressive) The AI are set form excellent to veteran. We play the missions with no Icons which makes it more challenging and immersive. Sometimes it's very intense. Lots of air to air. That's where we need to work together, air cover role is so important as for Ground pounding, as for support roles such as helio or Herc. Leka Who makes a variety of footholds from the previous originals(by DZSEKEB) updates them regularly and he's very dedicated to keeping them running. He's got a Discord server. link here https://discord.gg/cshgmgXuxE They are well done, they are good on frames, and a lot of fun to do. We have done most of them to the end capturing all areas, with great difficulties at times. Now with Squwak, we are continuing to do foothold missions along with other missions Modern and WW2 scenarios which Zukker, myself, and Sheriff create to keep it fresh. Please see my DCS server post - lets go with an "Foothold" mission These are well done and put together by people smarter than me. .....providing it does not get two juddery on our server

For this coming Thursday (10th) as I have not had the mind to sort out my Syria Campaign I would like to propose we go to "Here is one someone else made earlier". I have downloaded an updated MA_Foothold mission based in the Caucasus. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3341245/ For those of you that have played this type of mission before it has been built with multiple scripts where you earn credits for achieving objectives that can be traded in for equipment or friendly AI flights etc It has recently been updated so should be good. It has persistence capability as well which I will enable so has the potential of lasting multiple sessions

In essence it's a great idea... The trouble is with DCS's one great failing - you cannot occupy an AI slot in multiplayer, only a dedicated client. This restricts the abilty to drop into a well balanced scenario and take the place of an AI - you end up augmenting an AI force and sghifting the scales of the scenario. And with so many people wanting - or only able - to fly a single platform, each mission has to cater for a wide range of capabilities; some mission sets might only be realistically achievable with 4th gen platforms if there's only 2 or 3 of you on. Try the same in a 3rd gen airframe and you might find yourselves repeatedly shot down, unless there's more of you to saturate the defences. It's a bit of a knotty problem that a well designed sandbox mission should get around by providing a range of targets of varying intensity of defence - there's a bit of something for everyone. Plus, if you want to do some coordinated action then usually there's some more heavily defended areas that do require a coordinated effort to attack - it's just that no-one seems to take the bull by the horns and actually suggest it! However, I'd be up for some DangerDogz on tour adventures imnto some other servers to see what they're like...

Sorry for double posting but this is a bit of a different approach so i want to keep it separately from the previous message. You guys may or may not know that the IL-2 group is flying on wing walkers coop server regularly and there the admin and mission creator provides the community with a broad selection of scenario missions that are intended to be completed within 2-3 hours. Maybe we could all create a few missions like that and play them on Mondays. That would result in a bit more variety for us. There are of course limitations to what can be achieved with the different interests in plane / eras. Since i already started such a mission i'd like to beta test it next Monday if that's okay for everyone. I still need to know how many tasks are required so that we are able to actually 'win' a scenario in a certain time. I will aim for the 2-3 hour mark and if we finish early I'll add new stuff to do for the next time until we are 'saturated' with enough tasks for a single session. What do you think?

Congratulations , we have seriously hampered the enemys retreat. Italy has capitulated but the German forces have established strong defensive lines in the mountains. A major obstacle is the Monte Cassino abbey which has been fortified. This overlooks our main roads north. Our troops have not been able to break this fortress and are suffering heavy casualties. Although a religious centre the high command has taken the decision that this will be bombed to destroy the enemy emplacements. We must drop accurately as a village lies just beyond. This will be a level bombing mission with escort. The bombers are b25s and escort P-51d. We except light air cover but we must protect the bombers to enable them to target accurately. One the abbey has been destroyed there are further targets of opportunity for ground attack. Mission is scheduled for the 20th april at 2100hrs uk time. The Battle of Monte Cassino, also known as the Battle for Rome, was a series of four military assaults by the Allies against German forces in Italy during the Italian Campaign of World War II. The objective was to break through the Winter Line and facilitate an advance towards Rome. In the beginning of 1944, the western half of the Winter Line was anchored by German forces holding the Rapido-Gari, Liri, and Garigliano valleys and several surrounding peaks and ridges. Together, these features formed the Gustav Line. Monte Cassino, a historic hilltop abbey founded in 529 by Benedict of Nursia, dominated the nearby town of Cassino and the entrances to the Liri and Rapido valleys. Lying in a protected historic zone, it had been left unoccupied by the Germans, although they manned some positions set into the slopes below the abbey's walls. Repeated artillery attacks on assaulting allied troops caused their leaders to incorrectly conclude that the abbey was being used by the Germans as an observation post, at the very least. Fears escalated, along with casualties, and despite evidence, it was marked for destruction. On 15 February 1944, Allied bombers dropped 1,400 tonnes of high explosives, causing widespread damage.[5] Fallschirmjäger forces occupied the area and established defensive positions amid the ruins.

For me personally it is playing the same two training missions over and over again with everyone doing their own thing. Don't get me wrong. These missions offer a variety of targets and they are really good for trying out new weapons or airframes but I'd rather see us trying something together. Maybe we could even join a multiplayer server and hone our dogfighting skills. The only issue i see is that i only have a small selection of airframes at hand so we'd need to discuss whether or not we find a timeframe in which we all can fly together. @Friar if it's only the two of us (or anyone who's interested) we could have a 'pair programming'-style mission making session where we test and modify what we've got so far like we did with your helicopter scenario set in Afghanistan.
-
Fine, but lets try and have a shout out if you are or not going to attend, so those that were planning to play can make the call as to whether its worth setting up or not.

Hi Colin, My Mondays of late have been shanghai'd by training planning or ad-hoc training sessions with my F-14 squadron. That should abate as we get closer to the summer. Frankly, Mondays have really only ever been you, myself and Fruitbat, with an occasional appearance from others. It is one of the reasons I have pushed for DCS flyers to have a different evening available to attempt to make DCS more accessible to a wider audience within the DangerDogz. I say keep it for now.
-
Salute Over the last two Mondays I have been on the server on my own on Monday. As we enter the busy time down on the farm for Fruitbat (which I totally understand and am not complaining) and no other regular players turning up on a Monday I am getting a little bored on my own so am proposing that we drop the Monday sessions as a regular planned day. Always happy to jump on if people are around and call an ad-hoc session via the forum until real life gets more people more time free on a Monday. Friar

Sounds great! I have all those maps. I am most familiar with the hornet, apache and f4 phantom. A bit ok with the f-14 pilot. Other modules I can learn if needed. Cheers! Taz

Hello @352nd_Tazman That is correct, yes we fly on Thursdays from about 20:00 UK time. You would be welcome to join us. We use discord for DCS. I will send you the invite link via a pm The sessions are generally quite informal playing on either the Persian Gulf, Syria or Caucuses map. We were running a campaign that I put together but it stalled a bit due to technical issues. I may have it back on track for this week. If not we will play on a sandbox type mission. Cheers Friar

Hello! I spoke with some of the guys that fly Il2 today and asked them if it would be ok to fly some DCS with the Danger Dogz sometime? I undestand you fly DCS on Thurs evenings? Cheers! 352nd_Tazman

Thank you for responding. I took what I quoted in my prior to mean that v5.0 had been in your private group vault at one time but it is totally understandable after all this time for it to have gone AWOL. No one seems to have v5.0 or v4.0 in their files these days so not finding it here either is not all that surprising. Wheels

Time for some Air Racing

After the full 352n VFG group session Friday, April 04, 2025, Bender, Mars, Sighter, & myself moved over to Benders dogfight server and flew a few races. In the last race of the evening for the four of us Sighter had an epic crash right in front of me that I was able to capture in almost all of its glory. I uploaded a full speed version with sound and a second one in Slo-Mo, quarter speed, with the sound muted. Ideas For A New Caucasus Campaign - I need a backstory

You could create a fictional Russo-Georgian war set in late 1992 where a coalition of European countries intervenes and tries to protect the sovereignty of Georgia. The Russians try to secure the former soviet weapon stockpile and easy land access in order to prepare an invasion into the western oriented Azerbaijan and help out their Armenian ally that is suffering from the border clashes with Azerbaijany forces. The situation for the Georgian forces is critical and time is of the essence. The European task force was able to land a small number of forces near Batumi and establish the required airfield facilities to maintain a small air presence but available airframes are limited. Together with the remaining Georgian airforce assets, that have been carefully preserved during the initial air attacks from the Russians, the coalition needs to strike advancing Russian troops and force them into tactical withdrawal. This will allow coalition forces to deploy further airframes at the much bigger Senaki-Kolkhi airbase further north. If the coalition is successful in securing the Georgian lowlands the US is willing to send one of their aircraft carriers into the black sea. Until air superiority in the south is not secured this move is deemed to risky though. The success of the whole operation depends on these early days. God knows what the Russians will attempt next so act quick and decisively to establish the beachhead as planned. Maybe sth like this. Russians will use mainly MiG 23, MiG 29, very small numbers of elite Su 27 and lots of Su 25 for air attacks. Their helicopter forces also need to be deployed in big numbers. A lot of Mi 24 and a few Ka 50/Mi 28 as support for the Mi 24s -
Salute I am thinking about trying to get a new campaign quickly off the ground. I have learnt a lot from doing the Syrian Campaign and fancy starting again with a new scenario. Trouble is I am struggling for a back story to build on. I find if I have the story / scenario it helps to build the mission. I have looked at blue forces taking Anapa-Vityazevo in the North west, just inside the border from Ukraine, but then what? Does anyone want to throw some ideas at me, does not have to be historical (and probably best not), I just need some inspiration. Give me a story to unpack....objectives, responses from red forces etc. Very happy to work with someone as a collaboration Come on chaps, thinking caps on...

@Friar i think after all the effort that went into it, this campaign deserves to be finished. For me it became a superb experience once i found my place and knew where i could help to achieve our goals. Since you want to modify it anyways would you mind setting it up in a way that roughly resembles the state in which we last left it? It would be nice if Aleppo AB is free for the taking, Harim and.. 'the other town' under control and our forward auxiliary airfield in Hatay maybe fully stocked with weapons (unlimited) and a limited amount of various airframes available (so we still have to be careful but don't need to start the next session with ferrying all the planes over again). I think by that it wouldn't really feel like a restart and we could more our less simply continue our campaign. I have no idea how much work that would be for you though. This is a hobby after all so please don't feel obligated to invest too much time and burning yourself out 🙏 Also is it possible to make the A10A available? That would be great since i only have a limited set of airframes at hand and that would give me a proper platform for using mavericks + a bit of diversity. But please only bother with it if it's just a small change and can be done in mere minutes. I can totally live with only having the F-5 and AJS 37 available.

@Squee7e -not at the moment I am afraid. The stock ED save feature seems to be lacking and the DML persistence also has some issues. The mission will need to revised (I think I need to do things differently with Ai who do not get shot down) and I was going to ask tonight how people feel about another re-start. If people are happy then I will set about reconstructing the mission, but if people are done with this scenario I might move to another campaign implementing the changes I need in this one.
-
@Friar are there any news about the campaign? Could you make it work again? If not, please let me know if i can help in some way.
