gec Posted September 9, 2008 Report Share Posted September 9, 2008 hi all. here is my problem: every time i want to connect to a server (not HL) i need to go to IL settings, network and change network connection from default to my outside connection. also i can not host a game sharing my IP. but with HL i can. i connect to internet over PPPoE, i have two ethernet cards. one is connected to the DSL router and one on my local network. router is in bridged mode. all that worked before but stopped suddenly. thx gec Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
GreyKnight Posted September 9, 2008 Report Share Posted September 9, 2008 Gec, Like others have already mentioned, these 2 NICs of yours are likely the cause. I'm only guessing here, but if you have XP, you can go to the Network Connections folder (usually my right-clicking on the My Network Places icon on the desktop) and clicking on the Advanced tab along the top. Then in that first tab, you can say which NIC has priority and what services are bound to it. I would put your router connected NIC at the top of the list. See if that does anything?
