    Tiger Moth

Well at last here are some pics of the old moth under contruction, took ages to cut all 278 of the parts out. Could have purchased them lazer cut but decided to go the old fashioned route.
  3. wow Mick superb job, fantastic detail.
  4. Myself and Mrs Bear went there last year for five days, could have done with longer as there is so much to take in.The Empire State building is good at night for the lights, there is an aircraft museum on board the aircraft carrier Intrepid beside pier 84 which has a space shuttle on its deck as well as the SR71 Blackbird and Concorde parked on the dock beside it plus loads to see inside. The Rockefeller center is good for a high speed lift ride to the top and great views. The American Museum of Natural History is definately worth a view but you will need the best part of a day to see it all, as Friar said visit Grand Cental its mind blowing and the 911 museum is a must, a water taxi ride is good, not quite as mad as the yellow cab ride LOL There is so much to see and do there so its on the bucket list to go again but for longer, have a great time when you go i know we did.

62CC engine I'm playing with RC Helicopters at the moment, RTF types, and am considering making a fixed wing model. Cost though don't they!! It all depends on how far you go with it, there is some good affordable stuff out there now.

Wow Propnut thats big! what motor have you got up front ? Just looking at drawings again and it looks like there is a rear mounting rod that slides into rear spar the same as the front, this means the incidence will have to be built in spot on. Making a one piece wing for the top sounds like the way to go, its only 88" wing span that should just fit in my little van

    Tiger Moth

Hi guys, yes Mayhem it will be R/C, in answer your question Propnut, as far as i can see after studying drawings for some time is the dummy fibreglass fuel tank is fitted to the main struts coming up from the fuselage and has a large steel rod ( 6swg ) protruding about an inch on both sides which line up with main spar on top wings and they plug into that, and two small nuts and bolts to hold each wing in place. Does not sound very stong but drawings advise the wing rigging is most important to integral strength of airframe. The lower wings are fitted to the fuselage much in the same way as full size just a few nuts and bolts.

    Tiger Moth

Just about to start building a quarter scale Tiger Moth, got the scale drawings for xmas in process of ordering a load of balsa and spruce at the moment. This should keep me busy for a year or so.
