  1. Just to reinforce my comment about the press sensationalising things, the following link should explain the situation more clearly as there photos.I don't think I'd want to climb around a Spitfire that's in the middle of restoration with an empty cockpit area. Personally I think the museum did the right thing.Click here

Remember there are two sides to every story and the truth is usually somewhere in between.

  2. I believe radium is used on the instruments and is of serious enough concern to collectors and warbirds operators, extra paperwork etc due to health risks. Although, I can't see how this was an issue unless there was a damaged gauge in the cockpit? Also, as a Spitfire pilot sits on his 'chute, perhaps they deemed the bucket of the seat inadequate for a chap of his age without a cushion available?

Remember, don't believe everything the sensationalist rags say!

  3. 1. My oldie is in fact a mash-up of two oldies, is that allowed?

Actually, It's too good not to post. Enjoy the fusion of two of the greatest rock/metal bands:

    2. Now the new one. Another fusion, this time of genres. It's relatively new to me and it's a new-ish song that will polarize opinion i'm sure!

Dubstep is like the 'marmite' music right now, personally it's a bit of a guilty pleasure. This I believe is Skrillex's second track with Korn, and fuses their nu-metal sound with dubstep.

It's not for the faint hearted :laughing7::

  4. Practically identical mate, down to the being the one of only two passengers not to relive breakfast (damn close run thing tho - i was hanging on the cargo netting feeling most unpleasent by the end!) and even the weather! Wiltshire murk indeed!

Another thing that made me laugh... Keith (Casper) Talbot was also present on this Lyneham camp, and ever the 'heart-throb' he'd set his sights on a particular female cadet from the rival school.

She didn't go much on him yakking into a bag that's for sure! :roflmao:

Also, cracking video Arthur old chap! Oh, I really need to get gliding again! :confused3:

  5. The herkybird sure is a cool aircraft.

You wanna try being a "passenger" in one for a long flight and you might change your mind Jedi! :thumbsd:

I had the (dis)pleasure of riding in a Herc at RAF Lyneham about 12 years ago with the cadets.

We were invited to join the crew as they practiced circuits and bumps around the airbase for around 45mins.

I was the only one not to chunder :icon_puke_r: apart from the crew and our accompanying officer, which to this day i'm immensly proud of! :laughing7: :laughing7:

One of the freakiest things was looking out the side windows to see the wings wave up and down as the aircraft vibrated it's way into the merky Wiltshire sky. As a lad it astonished me how much flex there was! It was rather impressive jumping up into the flightdeck, that seemd to settle any tummy grumbles I had that's for sure.

Fenrir, I believe you had a similar experience, did you not?

  6. I feel like I've eaten a weeks worth of food in two days. It's a good job I'm pouring plenty of liquid down my neck, to make sure I'm suitably lubricated!

    Happy boxing day all!

Aah the joys of cold meat, mash potatoes and pickle... What's that? More Christmas pud?... Oh go on then! ;)
