  1. Good for you Colin! What an experience. 'CDC is the oldest flying Tiger Moth and you were taken up by one of the true characters of the airshow/aviation world.

My mum and dad both had the same pleasure as yourself some years ago.

I only live a few miles up the road from Headcorn, and was out cycling yesterday afternoon near Ulcombe and 'CDC flew overhead, I wonder if it was you?!

If I had know you were there I would have cycled down to watch :)

  2. Welcome welcome welcome!

It's fun here, you'll like it! Fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun.:lol::lol:

(Uncle Rog, can I have my pills now?...)

In all seriousness though, congratulations, you've just joined the best squad on earth! Look forward to flying with ya :thumbsu:

  3. Not sure if this has been posted before...

One of the P-40's in NZ has fully functioning .50 cals installed and occasionally undertakes live (blank) firing. :o:D

I would rather like to see this in the flesh! Somehow though, I think it'll cost me a ticket to New Zealand, because it'll never happen over here in blighty!

    Some pictures here:

Annoyingly it won't let me reply with 3 videos...

You can find the airborne live fire here:

  4. ~S~ Chaps,

I'm not really concerned with the politics of the matter I just, (like the old fellow who has spent 15 years trying to find them) would LOVE to see some or all of them fly again ! It would be fanastic (if unlikely) to imaging a squadron of Mk II's rushing across the Duxford grass on an actual SCRAMBLE to straff a confirmed Taliban convoy on the M1 heading for London!! :D

I wonder what will eventually happen to them ? Scattered to the four winds to private ownership? All sold to Alan Sugar /Richard Branson/ Elton John ? It's all just a "Scramble in the wind"

BTW: are there any other MkII's flying anywhere ?

    ~S~ P.

    Mick

The only currently airworthy MkII is the BBMF example IIRC.

There are now three MkI's though, which is jolly nice!

  5. Just read that he's been killed in a takeoff accident in a Bearcat. :(

If you don't know his name, those of us that have attended warbird airshows over the years both sides of the pond, would probably have seen this guy fly.

He would almost always be over to pilot for Flying Legends like many other US warbird pilots drawn to Duxford in July.

He'd usually be found flying one of the 'cats, and is probably best associated with the Wildcat.

    Sad times.

  6. Fantastic ROX! :thumbsu:

I've been a stargazer since early childhood, long night walks in the dark Irish countryside with the FamilyBear started it all off.

Keep it up mate, I look forward to seeing more pictures of the wonders above.

  7. I saw this on TV this weekend here in blighty and it was the first time in many years that I sat silenced by an advert. In fact it gave me shivers, I was watching with a friend at the time and we both just looked at each other and said 'wow'.

    Superbly produced:

    The blurb:

"Jack Jennings is a Far East war veteran who received funding through BIG's Heroes Return programme. 93 year old Jack provides inspiration for a high profile TV campaign across the UK launching on prime time television on Sunday 4 March.
