    Salute

As you may be aware I am currently working on updating my Persian Gulf server mission.

I would like to know please if I add an automatic Mark Point in the mission can these planes (I know the Harrier can) use them for navigation / targets. I am working on using the randomiser for placing targets and it would make it easier for you guys to locate them.

If not, does anyone have any suggestions for the best mechanic for mission planning (I am aware of the F10 map issue for VR users)

    Cheers

Only the Harrier can pull 'mark points' from the F10 map, as far as I know.

Mark points are something different irl, and are a way a pilot can can quickly create a special type of waypopint/steerpoint from where one of there sensors is looking, Tpod, HTS pod, Helmet, ground radar etc.... and are usually created through the UFC and are limited in number, ie 26-30 in the F-16. They often have extra features like displaying MGRS coordinates as well as the normal lat/long.

Could you associate a bit of text to display as a message along the top, linked with the random event that displays a general location of that event, that the pilot can enter into there nav system as a waypoint to get them on station?

  2. I know it costs around $10 for this app, but I'm going to pick it up soon and a cheap android tablet, and mount it in front of my joystick.

When starting to use the jets in more complex situations, using the ufc's becomes a much more integral component of the operation of the jets,  and while using the numberpad section of the keyboard suffices mostly,  having the bespoke ufc of each plane right in front of me at my fingertips is well worth the small sum to me.

Just need him to do the Mudhen ufc now, once exports are enabled for the module in upcoming development patches.

Compared to other modules,  the F-15 seems to require more than most use of the ufc, and annoyingly is the one that is least easy to map to the numberpad keyboard!

  3. Yeah, was good fun, thanks for helping me work out the details.

Involved Colin using the Apaches sights to find and lase and store a target, which gave him in the cockpit the coordinates of that target. We then needed to work out what format the coordinates were in, and what the F-15 takes, which as it happened are the same, although confusingly the Apache throws out one less decimal place, making the coordinates look like they were a different format, which confused us for a while!🙈

Once i had the coordinates read out to me on comms, i created a target waypoint in the F-15, and then used the info in the HUD to steer to  and drop my LGB on the cues, and Colin lasered it in for the last 10 seconds of flight time, and Kaboom!!!!!

I was up at 30,000 feet, above the clouds and never laid eyes on the target at all, cool stuff.

  4. There's one other nice thing you can do with TACAN, you can use it to get range to a flight leader.

The wingman needs to set his TACAN 63 higher than the lead. I don't know why 63 higher but it seems to be a standard across planes, same in the Hornet, A10, Harrier, Tomcat, Mirage etc.

It will not give you bearing, just distance, but this is very useful for keeping good position, plus in datalink aircraft you can see the position of your wingman in the HSI.

This video explains it quite well,
