  1. Hey gec, I've got my primary monitor at 1680x1050 same as my game, secondary monitor ar 1280x1024. Having unlocked the taskbar I can now drag it to the second monitor ok
  2. not sure FT, I've just tried it with Silent Hunter IV (using my Il2 CCC profile) and it ran the second screen fine with mail open ok, although when I move to second screen and click on say, an email msg, it minimises SHIV back to the task bar on my main screen.

  4. Hey guys, I'm having very similar snags here ( http://www.dangerdogz.com/forums/index.php/topic,7689.msg64893.html ) so apologies for the thread necromancy! I've followed B16 and gec's screenies and have them identical but still get a black second screen when I fire up Il2?

  6. Hey Jabo, I've got 2 HD3870's running in Crossfire mode so there's plenty of GPU power there, plus bearing in mind there won't be much happening on the second screen during gaming, only teamspeak & maybe an open reference doc or 2 (if I can get this to to work!!) Even a single decent card should be able to handle this as the 2nd screen uses minimal processing power to operate, so you shouldn't see much (if any) fps loss.

  8. Hey FT, I'm using the two DVI outs on the 3870 with the supplied VGA converters (neither monitor has DVI input) would this be the snag?

  10. Hey guys, I've just grabbed an old Samsung SyncMaster 940N 17" tft which was going begging and looking to get it to run as a second screen to my Acer 22" widescreen, mainly for work as I do a lot with MS Project/Access/Excel/Visio/Infopath and run MSN + mail + web etc continuously too (so my project teams can b*tch at me all day in realtime, LOL!). I've so far managed to get my desktop extended over both screens so I can drag my mail/MSN/web over onto the 2nd screen all ok

  12. Seems the over-riding experienced feedback is first getting decent situational awareness, aka - vision = survivability! Being fairly noobish I do know that I fight in mostly 2 dimensions and struggle tracking in a turn fight with the hat switch so I can see the sense in this advice, I think I have a good 'feel' for turn ACM & stall but struggle with 'E' and the vertical plane. (encrypt with Operation Pedestal Anti-Tommy Enigma code for that bit by the way . . . .

  14. I lost my black pedigree Lab (old english short coat with 'breeze block' head) called Benjamin ten years ago, who I'd had since I was 8 and since then real life (and maybe me too

  16. Quad core will see you safe for a few years yet and will certainly give you 'bang for buck' if you buy right, i7 is still overpriced IMO and I'm sure there's help here to overclock if needed. (I run an E8400 dual core overclocked to 3.6ghz on my first 'self build' and only had to change 3 settings in my BIOS to achieve this

  20. the G940 does look very nice and I am half tempted to wait for some solid reviews - I could get then get TrackIR first . . . . Rudder pedals are an unknown to me as I'm used to a twist stick, that said, I know that I don't use rudder as much as I should so pedals could actually help?! Am having a massive brainfart with this decision!!

  22. Hey Guys, As briefly mentioned elsewhere I currently play with an old, knackered £19 Trust joystick which I've had knocking around for a few years, the trigger is clicky, throttle slider is sloppy, etc, etc!

I use this http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html prog and find it very good. Also gives you control over the processes it closes and additional checkboxes for other background services. Dead simple to use and works fine on 64bit systems too. This website - http://majorgeeks.com/ - has been a really useful resource for all sorts of stuff!
