  1. We've done "tank nights" a few times - some observations.

Spawn points need to be close to each other -10 min driving is little fun when you get killed right away.

Spawn points need to be out of direct sight of the enemy- protected either by buildings or over a ridge

I suspect you will want to limit aircraft participation ... at least till you can spawn in your own mobile AAA gun

  2. Strange...  I joined the server... crashed a Spit. Back on the main screen I would normally hit the flag and leave current aircraft but anything I do on the main screen gives me the Windows "already busy with something else" sound.  I have to leave server via task manager. Rejoin the server and same thing. Can't use any tab on the main screen, same sound. I have to leave server via task manager.

I join another server, all works as it should. Back to the Dogs server and still the same situation. I have to leave server via task manager.

    Confused

Confirmed. If you hit the button twice it's fuel off, engines stop. No presses of the "E" key after that have any effect,  HOWEVER, if you then use the RCtrl +1 and RCtrl + 2 (default start/stop for engines one and two) they will fire up.

Heh, not exactly.... the "E" key will still stop the engines once running. You'll want to have more altitude than I did if you try this.

  4. I don't know what to make of this but I know the creator is a well respected military analyst and podcaster.

His podcasts are some of the best stuff I've ever heard. The Hardcore History WW1 series called Blueprint for Armageddon  is about 20 hours and riveting. Oh.... and free.

Current series is on the rise of Japan pre-WW2 - Supernova in the East.

  5. Over across the pond we often join a server with AI online to play. There are a few with icons (usually simplified engine management as well) and later you can up the game too others with no icons.

They're interesting objective based missions with the added  intrigue of the (very) occasional breather. A gaggle of Dogz would have no trouble controlling the sky and a dogfight gets everyone back in the action.

Shooting star server (Normal and expert servers) and the Unprofessionals come to mind immediately, I'm sure there are others

  6. Thanks all for the help.

I have a reprieve of sorts. I only had 9 MB (of 250) space left on my SSD.  I'm told its very bad to have an SSD more than about 75% full.  Ordered a 500MB SATA 2.5 inch.

My mobo is just a bit too old to take full advantage of an NVMe stick... by the time I can use one a 10 TB will be $20

Moved DCS bloatware (88mb?) to the storage drive.  DCS seems to run OK, just takes a long time to load.

  7. This board is just before the M.2 slot came about.

PCI slots are faster data transfer than SATA and this type of drive cools better than an enclosed SATA drive = faster speed and longer life.

Apparently there are adapters > M.2 to PCI-e   .... still investigating..
