Here is what I tweaked it too.

Just take all the files and drop them into your game folder loceted in Steam folder In C:drive

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover

Or elsewhere if you have moved it like I have.

    K:\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover

    inject fx - philstyle settings.zip

    Example Picture below

    INJFX.bmp

Then once installed the {ause Break key flips it on and off. with it off you can see better in low light if your monitor britness is turned up. But with it on the jaggys go away and the colors look more natural.

  3. Arthur, Yes, Yes,Yes, and No.

It was a hoot, and I added the vidio up top in the first post.

It makes me wonder if we will get the chance to swap planes are the tarmac and actually climb in.

Got to run off to work. Just barley got this quick and dirty version edited and compiled and uploaded while I slept.

  4. I bailed out and walked across the lot after a long flight with my left wing missing a large chunk and on fire finished with rough landing no worse than normal LOL and stepped up on Jack's wing, then we took off. We did this twice. The first time Jack said that was one of my smoothest take offs. Then I started playing around and found my pilot's weight actually rocks the plane when walking on the wing. Did I change his center of gravity?

I checked the other WW2 birds the Spit is the only one I can walk up on the wing from the ground.

I have video of it and this is just screen shots of the video but its too late to compress and upload the vids tonight.

EDIT: I made a quick and dirty vid anyway.

Solution for pesky "joysticks scrambled AGAIN" issue

That's bad enough, but today I lost all force feedback from CLOD because I'd installed another joystick driver that has forcefeedback, and that new joystick driver just happens to be first on CLOD's list--meaning that all force feedback went to the WRONG joystick.

I think I have found a solution to this annoying problem. The solution allows you to re-order your joysticks any way you want, keep them in the same order time, and hide any joystick you like from CLOD. Even better, you can make different lists of joysticks/different orderings that will show up for different games.

The utility is called "devreorder" and you can download (with instructions) here:

    Discussion with the developer here.

I went through the whole process to install the new dinput8.dll in both system32 AND sysWOW64. However, I would very much NOT recommend that approach for most people.

Instead, for most games, you can just copy the new/improved version of dinput8.dll to the same folder as your game's .exe file. (Same directory as Launcher.exe in the case of CLOD.) Launcher.exe is a 32-bit program so you need the x86 version of dinput8.dll. Just copy it to the same directory that Launcher.exe lives in.

    However, that didn't work.

Bu then I had a bright idea and copied the same dinput8.dll to several of CLOD's subdirectories:

    SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover
    SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover\parts\core
    SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover\parts\bob
    SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover\parts\IL2DCE
    SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover\parts\TEFCampaign

I put a devreorder.ini file in the same directory as Launcher.exe (SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover). I've zipped that sample .ini file and attached it to this message--click here to download:

And--it worked! My joysticks are ordered the way I want them, and it seems to work every time CLOD starts. I just moved the offending forcefeedback joystick driver (vJoy) down to the bottom of the list in the devreorder.ini file.

    So, two points:

    • You could do this too--it's a pretty painless way to solve the joystick scramble problem permanently.
      • Download the devreorder .zip file
      • Copy the x86 version of dinput8.dll to the five directories I've listed above
      • Edit devreorder.ini to list your joysticks in the order you want them & place that .ini in the same directory as your Launcher.exe
    • Does anyone know which subdirectory is actually the effective one to put dinput8.dll into? I would guess \parts\core - but it's hard to say without painstakingly testing every single combination . . .

  6. Howdy all,

I have overlooked this since installing DCS about 6 years ago, and each time I've flown it I have gotten disgusted with this problem or the combination of them changinging the controls on each update. Or the fact that I wasn't saving my setup per plane in its own folfer, and re-writing it with each plane and screwing up the last.

Al those problems have been over come, but this one until a couple nights ago.

FT and a few others and I was on and just discussing plane setup for the Spitfire, and FT just causually said something about the the FFB swap. Becausse he was fighting something else.

I had been fighing alerion roll since the beggining with elevator trim, and was too dense to realize that this game can invert the FFB, all other games hadn't.

I spoke up and he said he was sure Fenrir had set him straight on this problem but was at a loss at to what and why and went diggging for some notes.

I looked at the control setting for the FFTune and saw it.

But walla! once I swapped it this game just became loveable I can actually trim one out and let go of the stick.

I had never though about about them being backwards, I just assumed that screen was there to soften or increase the forces.

    Should of looked closer.

Still amazed I was so thick LOL

Today I found out Funflack was too ;-) and I walked him through the fix.

    So now you know.
