Ive been evaluating FreeTrack Its much more advanced than freelook. the 30 page instruction pdf gives details for a single LED cap (2DoF only), a 3 LED trackclip (looking very suspiciously like a PRO CLIP) and a 4LED baseball cap. It claims that its 4 LED tracking system is more accuate in 6DoF than trackIRs. The best thin about the software is that it has a DirectX window for testing . Set the window to 1st person and you get a small wire frame cockpit to look around with distant boxes at your center , x, y and z points. This means you can test sensativity with out loading IL2. PS you must minamise the prog down to its tray icon before loading IL2 otherwise you get a huge framerate hit

just found this while trawling .. 20 button interface This little box of tricks costs less than $30 and connects all your REAL buttons and switches to your PC So if you just happen to have a real P51 retract lever bought from a yard sale or a Yak handbrake you can now assign them to IL2 funtions.

All the serious players seam to favour the x52/x52pro But as a personal thought controling a BF ,Yak or Spit with controls ripped from a F16 seems...well ....just wrong My local hardware supplier RCSimulations let me have a play with the new saitek yoke .weird to combat with but I was

According to the plane guide the WEP on the 109 needs to be selected at idle and will then only operate above 100% (like the mustang). However as soon as its selected I get the yellow/red "boost/WEP seleced" message on the right at all throttle settings... Is this normal??

Just got myself a new throttle quadrant.... Prop pitch is on a lever next to the throttle ..with mixture and supercharger on rocker switches Straight and level on 100% "full fine" I can gradually coarsen the pitch while watching the rev counter. As long as you keep the revs in the power band you can add 20+kph to the cruise. usefull if you are running away. This is much easier to do on a slider compared with the +5-5 button bashing.

as Ive never flown any thing in RL with prop pich control ( half my hours are on aircraft with no engines at all!!) let me see If Ive grasped this: 100% =1st gear = takeoff /landing/ steep climb 95%=2nd gear =shallow climb 90%/80% =3rd/5th gear etc for high speed cruise or diving so does that mean 100% and less throttle will keep a damaged engine running longer? less stess?? also if your engine has died will selecting 0% extend your glide?? will it act like a manual feather?? Mind you.... you can all fly gladiators or CR42s and not worry about pitch

Apparantly it works out of the box for every sim EXCEPT IL2 1946!! IL2 wont let you map HOTAS for each engine or for Prop pitch .You have to macro "select engine, change, select both" I mentioned the saitek Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant because its a lot cheeper than the CH quadrant plus I dont like the CH range much. Still it gives someone 3 extra sliders. you could alwas use them for flaps or trim??

Any one bought the : saitek Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant saitek Looks great.. get one per engine But looks like we brits are getting sc**ed again . Already available in the states for $50 . we have to wait another month and pay £50

GreyKnight I have the software. Built the hardware (I'm not telling what my wife and kids said about the headgear!!) I can see the motion on the cross hairs on the freeview software All seems to be working but: how do I get this to translate to mouse movement/ get this to work ingame??? Its driving be nuts!!

Grey Knight Sorry I must remember to set my brains supercharger to stage 2 when trying to think at high level. You are of course correct that convergence works on all weapons ,wherever they are mounted. If they are wing mounted the convergence sets a horizontal angle (akin to tracking on your cars front tires) AND a vertical angle to get the range (like any rifle) If they are nose mounted they STILL need the vertical angle to counter bullet drop. So to contine this thought the convergence setting in game is THE ONLY RANGE at which your gunsight is truly accurate. There fore this distance needs to be the same for both weapons and set to the match the pilots preferred firing range. If you set your convergence to 400m your shots will fly over the top of your target at 200m. If set to 100m your shots will drop short of a target at 200m+ Of course this is only academic for me as I rarely have any thing in front of me to practice on........
