Just thought, I'd chuck a thread up here for next year's shindig.
Flying Legends 2009 - July 11th & 12th.
No racing at Newmarket on that weekend, so accomodation should be easier to arrange than this year.
Sadly, TFC's Mk18 Spit which was resident at Dux has been sold, but an inside source tells me that this is to make way for a 'new, exciting addition' to the TFC fleet - I wonder...
That's about it for now - only 246 days to go!
Just in case you were forgetting!

You know Jabo, putting it in a smaller font doesn't make you any sneakier.....
Really? Damn...
The way I grabbed them TOAD was to have the realplayer IE plugin installed which gives you the option to download streaming media. It doesn't work on every site (BBC iPlayer for example), but seems to here...The other alternative would be to use a suitable Firefox addin (there is one, I just can't remember the name right now)
Hope this helps...

I've just switched my machine over to three 500Gb SATA HDDs. One for my OS/Progs/Games which is Ghosted onto 10 DL DVDs (I really should have a clean out at some point). The other two are in a Mirrored RAID configuration and that's where I store my docs/work/photos etc etc. The RAID is backed up weekly to another external 500Gb drive via the Firewire port. It's overkill, but I won't run out of diskspace during this (or any other) millenium. In addition, having three backups of my photos means that even a dunderhead like myself would find it difficult to lose all of them simultaneously

You should be able to grab it using a Firefox add-on. If I get the chance I'll try to sort it for you.

I have a similar problem with a client's machine at the moment, damn thing won't POST at all, swapped out gfx cards, psu and memory. Left with processor and mobo (which I don't have spares for) - looks like they're going to need new innards for this one. FWIW a mainboard/processor kit can usually be picked up from most computer retailers at a reasonable price - I'm on the wrong side of the herring pond to advise on who you should look at, but that'd be where I'd be going now.

oops, my mistake - 10000lbs would be about right - at least I was on the money with the Mosquito

Indeed, and I have replied to it

Overkill? Why yes my dear Merdog, of course it is - but when SOW comes out...
BWAAAAAHAHAHAHA!
Basically I'm looking to future proof this thing a bit, 'cos it's going to be a bit difficult for Mike to drop his machine round to me when it breaks or he wants something added in (right m8?

I wonder if he meant a Spitfire or Tempest/Typhoon - the Mossie is 2000 kg heavier than a P-47...
Not so sure about this m8, AFAIK the unladen weight for the tbolt was 9000kg and the mossie was 6800kg
It's always nice to meet the old guys though. I've always made time to talk to them, and the one thing that nearly all of them say is that you can forget the medals and the rest of that stuff, they just want people to remember them for what they did and why. Amen to that...

Thanks Shadow - I'll need to look into the 200 series cards - we're not stocking them at present so I won't get any discount
The only reason for going for 4 GB, was to allow the machine to dual-channel the memory to the maximum the OS can handle (3GB?). Incidentally, as I understand it it's only the 64 bit versions of Vista that remove the memory cap, the 32 bit versions have the same limitation as XP.

Thanks Jediteo. This idea has saved me a bunch of cash and I can now get my X52 instead! In the words of Krusty - I heartily endorse this event or product. Incidentally, I modified the basic model to power from a USB port so I don't need a battery - of course, it does mean another cable attaching me to the 'puter.

P.S. I have to build another one, so I'll take some pictures of the build to give people an idea of what's involved.

Hi chaps,
Mike and I have been kicking around an idea for his new PC - here's what I've come up with - see what you think - any ideas appreciated.
Consider that we're keeping his original case, HDD and optical drives but anything else is fair game. Oh, and I want to keep the price below £600
XFX nForce 680i mainboard
Intel Quad Core Q9300
4Gb Corsair RAM (4x 1Gb sticks)
XFX Geforce 9800GT (x2 natch)
I also need to get him a new PSU (800 - 1000W I think?) and some serious cooling
Over to you...

Ah yes, that'll be the Adnams Broadside then - a proper ale. Slips down a treat...
Nice to see the possibility of some new faces as well as some old ones...That's old as in familiar, not...oh never mind - I think this hole's quite deep enough.
