  1. It's funny that Chuck Taylor now carries a 9MM Glock. I guess he figures now that it's the gun you have on you and the one that fires every time you pull the trigger that is the "best defensive caliber". There is something to be said for that. There is of course no substitute for good training and regular practice when the shit hits the fan and your scared witless and shitless and you are the only one who can fix it.
  2. LOL, you can always count on GI's to entertain themselves during lulls in the action. No bad guys? No problem, we'll just shoot each other! I still get a kick out of the Hollywood stuff, even though I know a lot of it is not only unrealistic but defiant of the laws of physics. Double LOL, .45cal Death Ray. You know a guy is full of shit when he proudly declares the his .45 will " knock a man off his feet with one shot every time" As I've said before, one of the big reasons I carry a .45 is the other guy's perception of it's power. If that big ole hole in the business end changes an evildoers mind before I have to perforate him, then it's win-win. I consider no shots fired, no casualties the best outcome of any armed confrontation I might get into. If on the other hand he feels the need to get perforated, then I want the biggest perforation possible! Of course, the fact that my man Chuck Taylor recommends it helps too.
  3. I thought that this might be a good place to post a little something for those of us who are into chicks with guns,
  4. While I understand and support the Geneva convention I always thought it was kinda silly to make believe warfare is in any way civilized. But that's just me.
  5. LOL, I was wondering what happened to everyone. You really must stop abusing that mouse or you'll have PETA at the door.
  6. Nice work! Keep it up mate. The skills learned building models have served me well throughout my life.
  7. While I'm no expert, I have studied terminal ballistics quite extensively, so I'll try to offer a preliminary explanation. Unfortunately, the answer defies explanation. One man will fall on the ground and cry for mama with a minor flesh wound (some even die), another will fight on for 10 or 15 minutes with a fatal wound. Case in point: the "Miami incident" where a man (An army trained street hardened criminal) killed 4 FBI agents and wounded several more after receiving an unsurvivable wound. In general though, a person fighting for their life will be hopped up on endorphins and adrenaline and is capable of absolutely amazing things, including fighting on with fatal wounds, walking on broken legs, and seemingly rising from the dead This is why the "pros" insist on reliable, powerful ordinance to get the job done. It is quite easy to kill a human being, it is somewhat more problematic to prevent him from killing you back.
  8. In the land of the free and the home of the brave, even stupid people are allowed to carry guns. I could almost get behind a minimum IQ requirement for Firearm ownership.
  9. Back to the original post, I love how they include the guy who had to cut his own hand off. Now that's a man. He gets to drink what ever he bloody well pleases.
  10. LOL Andy, you'll fit in just fine around here. Trib, I agree that one has to forgive the college aged for just about anything (even drinking violations) so we'll let you slide on the tomato juice thing (but, just for the record....EEEEEWWWWW) As for the rye and scotch, I consider that a personal preference, not a violation. Whiskey is after all, whiskey.
  11. LOL. Different kind of flame war. I have heard of a lot of spec ops guy's preferring the Ak47 for "behind the lines" work because of the simple fact that it's much easier to "borrow" ammo from your opponents when you use the same weapon, and well, most of our opponents use the Ak. It's also not
  12. Men drink bourbon. The rest of you sissies can make all the rules you want. Men still drink bourbon.
  13. Nice detail work. Makes me want to break out the Dora I have in storage.
  14. I'll have to do some research on those full auto P-35's, I've just never heard of them. Full auto pistols are definitely a niche weapon, but can be useful in well trained hands and are especially popular with protective details where sub guns might be obtrusive (you can read politically incorrect here). As for the regular P-35's, I agree that they are magnificent weapons, and from my experience most are quite good. I am just more comfortable with a 1911 in my hand, and enjoy a more serious caliber. If a 9mm is required I just love my Sig 228, as I never have had the opportunity to practice my malfunction clearance skills with it (at least not without staging them).
  15. LOL, you got me. I do maintain my position though, that to the best of my knowledge this is not a factory option (though several makers do make full auto pistols) I am curious if this is a modification or a malfunction, the Hi-Power is made in several countries and many of them are just crap, so my vote is for malfunction.
  16. First off Arthur, I would like to point out that the Browning Hi-Power (or P-35) is not "fully automatic" but is a self or auto loading pistol, and as such is capable only of firing one round per trigger pull. Second, I am of a mind that Mr. Browning got it right the first time
  17. Wow, beautiful vacation. And yes that is the flattest flattop in history! I've forwarded the photo to the Guinness people.
  18. I would also point out that the VAST majority of gun use in the united states consists of making holes in pieces of paper. This pastime is not in any way any more violent than playing a video game that includes guns. This is the point that Toad was making. I can't make sense of any other interpretation. As for myself, I determined long ago that if I had a skill that could prevent my self or my family from being murdered for some scumbags pleasure, then I was derelict in my duties to them and the community that I serve (as a citizen of a country where I am a citizen and not a subject). All of the people that I make contact with on any given day will never be any safer. Ever. I don't really care if anyone else believes it. It is none the less a fact. P.S. I don't believe that the second amendment only speaks of the right to bear arms against the Government (although that is a big part). There must be an element of bearing arms in SUPPORT of ones country in time of war and in support of ones community in times of unrest. The right to self defense would have never been questioned by the founding fathers.
  19. The thing that really gets me is the sort of magical power so many people give to firearms. A firearm is a remote control drill, nothing more, nothing less, it has no power whatsoever to cause violence, or any other sort of crime. I have legally carried a pistol most days for more than 15 years, and I have never even CONSIDERED shooting anyone out of anger, even though I get just as pissed off at stupidity as the next guy. The reason for this? I'm a peaceful, law abiding citizen! Can you believe that? In my state a concealed carry permit is required to transport a pistol in any manner. There are a couple of hundred thousand people in this state, who have said permits. To the best of my knowledge, no one with one of these has ever used their pistol to commit a crime. (now some have had their permits pulled for being stupid, but that's different from knocking off a liquor store or shooting someone for looking at your girlfriend). How does a rational thinking person not get that a criminal is a criminal, and an asshole is an asshole and having access to a firearm is not even relevant to the argument. If the criminal does not have access to a firearm he will use another weapon, or get a friend or two. Why? Because he is a freaking criminal, that's why! While I think Ted is a little cowboy for my taste, I don't think he at any point intended to support Vigilante justice (though he kinda came off that way). The fact of the matter is that very few law abiding gun owners have that kind of attitude and next to none would engage in it. Why? Because their peaceful law abiding citizens! Having the desire to be able to defend yourself efficiently does not make a person a vigilante any more than hanging around in a garage makes you a car. Gec, just for the record, the barrel on my favorite carry gun is 3 inches. I assure you my dick is much bigger.
  20. I love the Danger Dogz! Where else could I learn such things? Where else?
  21. Glad you were able to get 'em gone. You are always welcome back if you can get back into flying or just to chat.
