  1. Hi guys,

currently away on holiday in turkey, im back next weekend but i have just started to get back into IL2 again, bit of multiplayer online, wouldn't mind jumping in on a couple of your nights again if you'll have me. I need to re aquire the password for teamspeak and channel again if you don't mind. Shift work as always isnt great but would be good to catch up, im trying to relearn everything all over again and it is fun. (That and i have managed to hold my own occasionally online)

also, if anyone fancies flying on the finnish server at all as a wingman occassionally, that would be cool. I know this group isnt a multiplayer group, but if anyone is interested id be keen 🤘

    Cheers

  2. Hey guys,

Firstly i wanted to apologise for not being around for such a long time. I had to take a break for a while. I had so much going on and the PC took the back seat. I havent even logged onto iL2 since the new Normandy came out. I was wondering how it is?…. I waited and waited for the Mossie to make an appearance and i haven't even flown it!

i dont know what it is but i seem to have just lost a bit of love with combat flight sims at the moment. I just dont have the urge to blow stuff up!

I have been flying alot of Flight Sim over the past month but kept thinking about you guys so thought id pop on and say hello to say i am still here, im just taking a breather from the gunning down at the moment.

I even started making a couple of videos on MSFS so if you would like to view them Search RoyalFosse on youtube. I have done a few integrating NeoFly and Vatsim (live ATC).

I'm sure i will be back in a tiffy sometime but didnt want to just stay mute! Hope the campaign is going well! I check in from time to time but for the mean time ill lob a few pages on the MSFS area for those who are interested. (Feel free to move this but i know you would read this here)

  3. Cheers for this guys,

just one quick glance and question,

below 8,000ft, is it better to just link the throttles like you said, if im then dogfighting, is there occasions below this i can maximise without linking as i know below these altitudes its pretty much outmatched on one on without, putting the big guns aside.

much appreciated ill give this a go when i get back im i ln the BAHAMAS 😁 …. Back middle of may to make you all jealous.

Hello Fosse:salute: My sincere apologies for replying so late - was on hols 'til late last week - but the short answer is no, it's not complicated.  At least not the ones that I make.:D

I use something called ShadowPlay and it comes with Geforce Experience - as long as you have an Nvidia graphics card.  It's very simple to set up,  has very little impact on frame rates whilst it's running and produces a nice video that is easily uploaded to YouTube without any loss of quality.  Since I'm running a 1080p screen I can't really afford much of a loss in quality so this is important.

ShadowPlay basically records whatever is on the screen at the screen resolution.  There are lots of other programmes around to record stuff but in my experience they all have a bigger systems footprint which has a negative impact on fps.  i should add that FruitBat makes some very splendid videos of DCS on his lovely big 4k screen using something that comes with Windows.

The other thing about the stuff I make is that it's all one take; all I'm doing is pressing the record button and then changing views in the sim from cockpit to external, etc.  To cut between scenes properly you need to use an external video editing tool to edit and join different sections together.  This obviously gives the chance to make some really beautiful, epic stuff if your so inclined but takes a great deal of time to do it properly and when it comes to MSFS2020 there is one major problem with this:  Unlike IL2 or DCS,  at present the sim does not have a decent, built in track recorder.

It does have a bit of an under-developed, crappy one and third party apps are also available too but at present they have quite a lot of limitations and for one reason or another are not quite up to snuff yet in my opinion. Here's a link to the best one available on Flightsim to.

    https://flightsim.to/file/8163/flight-recorder

Also, I've seen some of Blubear's vids of IL2 and he's really rather good I think so I'd like to know what he uses for editing.

Anyway, despite the limitations, I have a few handy things I can use to try and make things interesting. I use TrackIr which allows me to not only look around the cockpit but also 'extend' my view when I'm recording externally.  Also, I have a wireless XBox controller that I use for external views and panning around which is very handy.

    One thing that MSFS does have that the others don't is a drone cam option and it's here that my XBox controller comes into it's own.  With it you can;

This means you can do some pretty stuff with careful use of the sun, the scenery, the weather and the auto pilot!

Autopilot in MSFS becomes pretty important when all the recordings you make are one-take and you're juggling joystick and XBox. Infact I've discovered that the autopilot in my lovely little Kodiak is good enough to navigate the Mach Loop!:roflmao:

Perhaps I'll try and make a movie of that soon.  Hope this helps. S!

    Arthur,

thank you ever so much, i will ponder over this properly when i return from my holidays too!

  5. Hi chaps,

I really want to have a go at flying the P47 but must admit get put off with the supercharger throttle etc etc and what to do with it. Could anyone give me some info on how to go about flying it, and what setting etc i need for take off, landing, normal cruise, then what I can turn it to for fighting.

Have tried to watch requiems videos etc but he normally has set ups for take off and landings, but doesn't go into what I should be watching for combat.

I fancied a go at one of the campaigns with the P-47's to get used to it.

I'm away on holiday till the 15th so will catch you when I'm back!.

  6. hey chaps, just caught up with all this,

i unfortuntly went for the store download, only because i currently have an xbox which i pay gamepass for, that means that i technically get microsoft flight sim for free, well £10 but its a subscription to any other games that they have, and for me its worth it.

I haven't put many add on on, apart from the paid jersey airfield and also buying the BN2 islander, the freeware stuff I have done is mainly for the Garmin nav systems, because they are clunky. That and the uprated Xcub. Mt theory is trying to keep it as plain as i can till the bugs and upgrades slow down a tad. Too many overides and re installing is happening after every world update.

Again I cant praise NEOFLY enough, it has literally opened the game up to me. Making a career of flying, and giving you meaning. Although its not nice when those whiskey bottles in the back break and you have just spent £100,000 on them to sell.

  7. chaps can i just add,

if you want to take MSFS to a completely different level, download "neofly", basically its a career add on for MSFS. It seems quite daunting at first to set up, but its bloody amazing, it just adds a bit more than "bimbling" although I do just love doing that....but....why not bimble to an airport and drop off some cargo....bottles....which break if you have a hard landing.......take that doctor to a nearby field where a B737 has crashed, land in the field and let her out of a cub....watch those trees though!...it simply is amazing....I have currently worked myself up from 0$, to have 2 people flying for me, 3 different aircraft...im currently flying an islander because its short take off but has a decent fuel/cargo load......oh and just when you think your all set up....a random event of an engine failure and you have to put it down...

The best thing about all this is sound effects of cargo loading, bird strike etc, its quite immersive...i think the end idea is to have animations etc (there are some such as aircraft crash and smoke on a motorway you have to land on etc )

please take a look. if anyone's keen I can always jump onto TS and show you the ropes......you can also get extra money for multiplayer flights.....!!!

Nice to meet you last week mate. It's bloomin good fun once you get your eye in. I much prefer to multi crew as it feels more immersive and allows for the full capacity of the tank skill set. Happy to multi crew anytime.

Thanks parts! hopefully this week if my shifts allow! I do enjoy the tanks 😊
