T_O_A_D Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I had a Creative 5.1 set and the mainboard and the woofer has died. The speakers are all fine, and the power supply. But without the mainboard, it's all worthless. So I'm looking to get new possibly, I enjoy the speakers when I fly in the afternoons, and no one is home. And only wear the headset at night. any suggestions on a new set, or thoughts on giving up surround sound, and get a quality set with a woofer? Quote
Snacko Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I have these: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-THX-Certified-505-Watt-Digital-Surround/dp/B0002WPSBC And they sound awesome! Quote
T_O_A_D Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Yeh I eyeballed those, the other day, But no more than I get to use them the cost isn't warranted. If I was hooked up as a personal theater I think it would be worth it, but I only use this PC for occasional movie watching. Quote
Snacko Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 One thing that I learned after buying/building a few computers is that you rarely need to upgrade your speakers, monitor, mouse and keyboard. Quote
T_O_A_D Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Yeh, these I had lasted 7 years, but and they were $120 or so new. I'm going to try and look around awhile, for something used first before I break down and spend a large sum. And even then, it will be awhile before i can collect that kind of extra money. I see two dark spots on this mainboard, under a couple of diodes, (I think diodes) I'm thinking about getting some new ones and solder them in and see if I get lucky. Any one familiar with this? http://cgi.ebay.com/3000-Watt-Surround-Sound-Computer-PC-Laptop-Speakers-NB_W0QQitemZ400101467771QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Speakers?hash=item5d27e7e67b http://cgi.ebay.com/Frisby-5-1-Surround-Sound-Computer-PC-Laptop-Speakers_W0QQitemZ400102232356QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Speakers?hash=item5d27f39124 So far I haven't found to many revues, probably cheap.
