  3. Heads up boys. I asked about settings on their server and this is what Bishop sent: "The settings we would prefer to keep the action fast and fun would be - Fog Of War- on HUD Icons- on Cockpit Always On- on (no wonder woman view) No Player's Own View - on (can't look outside your own plane except when on the ground) --------------------------------------------- Padlocks are completely up to you guys Same with bomb fuses I personally would prefer fragile torpedoes but we'll leave that up to you as well -------------------------------------------- Realistic Gunnery Realistic Engine Management Misc Options full switch We normally turn on friendly views just so eliminated players who can no longer spawn can watch the action, but this is not necessary. With a few exceptions, fun takes precedence over realism so we're pretty open to whatever achieves that. If you don't want to mess with bomb fuses, then no fuses, if you prefer to padlock on to target, cool (just examples). We prefer HUD icons and speed bar, cockpit lock and no personal externals." We will be using vanilla 4.12.2 and our TS. Fun starts at 22:00 GMT but expect our guests to arrive earlier in order to set things up. I'll pass on our TS details and get their server address. I have a map and will put it in the vault. Link here http://dangerdogz.com/forums/files/file/771-base-raid-spartan/ It's a standard small online islands dogfight map with only 2 of the 4 available airfields in use, in a corner diagonally opposite eachother. There are ships as spotters and flak that opens up on you when you have flown half way across the map. It is thick and reasonably accurate. Perhaps we could have a go on it Sunday night before the match? Cheerzen
  4. Re. Scrimmage. Plan is to meet this Sunday 31 May. Base Raid on Spartan server with 4.12.2 vanilla and using our Teamspeak, meeting in the lobby and then using separate rooms for the flying, meeting back in the lobby afterwards. Just need to sort a time as they are 4 hours behind us so could mean a 22:00 GMT start for us. Watcha think?
  5. I've been in touch with Spartans re. the scrimmage, they are asking if our first encounter could be vanilla 4.12.2 as they are sorting out HSFX. Sunday may still be on. I've said we will be using TS.
  6. I'm up for 31st. I'll be the point of contact if you like, I'll apply and see if they'll have me on their forums.....
  7. Hi Bishop, nice to hear from you Great offer, and it's the sort of thing we like. I imagine there will be interest and enough Dogz straining at their leashes wanting to get involved....me for one. Cheerzen Sid
  8. Happy Birthday Gents Hope it's a good 'un!
  9. Cheers Gec, much appreciated
  10. ~S~ chaps Do we have a map running on the Dangerdogz server? There are times when we are short of hosts on a Sunday and would like to fly around.....I know there is an answer, get hosting yourself but not always possible. Any maintenance required?

    A320 Crash

The advert was on the London Underground and was taken down the same day, hopefully before too much upset.
  12. As you have done AP, starting point is 4.12.2, however you get to it. Then apply Modact 5.3 only. Then it has to be module 1, which is the maps that all the other 3 flight eras use. Then module 2, module 3 and module 4. It doesn't matter which of the flight era modules goes first, they are all optional and totally separate from eachother. Just make sure the separate module parts go in order and yes, you overwrite any files that the installation asks to be overwritten.

  14. It's my other IL2 install Intended for single player use, it's the product of months and months of trial and error, install and testing to give the most stable and interesting mod pack out there. Three scenarios are covered...WW1 (with Gothas and Zeppelins) 30's to WW2 and after including Korea, Vietnam, F4 Phantoms, Tu Bears and F18s. Still moddable, enables me to fly stuff we Dogz don't

    Lancaster Movie

Could be Pook, I guess it adds to the story by giving it an uncertain end, just like it was on ops.
  17. Well worth a look http://the-man-shed.com/lancaster-movie-review/ A tribute to bomber crews everywhere, but thinking of my Uncle Phil, lost over Germany in a Stirling, April 1942. Salute to them all.
  18. Good luck, and thanks for what you do at M4T
  19. very good
  20. Practice is one of the keys, checking height the target is above sea level and deducting that from altimeter height and airspeed. There are tables for true airspeed around that are useful but I found the most important physical motion thing to check is maintaining a constant airspeed that keeps the crosshairs on the target. Many other things too I'm sure but it is good fun to do.

  22. Thanks Arthur, fantastic link. They make great desktops too A great study of aircraft in the hellcat/sbd/flightdeck piccie....shows how much variation in the finish there is and how different the camo lines are demarcated...just right for model painters. Until you see these raw piccies you don't realise, especially as an awe struck kiddie, just how uniformity went overboard and randomness was acceptable in times of strife. Contrast that with the gleaming dig out tools on the gun carrier Monty and Ike were in...bull was still necessary when they dropped in. Are those shovels painted? Ever tried to use a painted shovel....waste of time. Natural, washed off and lightly oiled gives the best finish and performance for shovels....same goes for a woman too apparently
  23. Various forums on the interweb come up with variations in advice so I would say that there is no hard and fast rule. For example, the official nvidia site http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/IO_13955.html says to uninstall first before upgrading the card and then reinstall new drivers (even though they could be the same ones). Doesn't give a reason why. A forum on the 'Geforce' site https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/687029/video-card-upgrade-driver-question/ says a little bit more but says both ways is ok. Tom'sHardware http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/315235-33-installing-graphics-card-steps says it isn't necessary but the comments on forums are a personal view from a non-tech person perhaps. As it is so easy to do I use the update system for drivers on my nvidia and don't remove when going from one driver version to another. However when replacing a card I always uninstall the current drivers, put in the new card and reinstall new ones. I feel that as it is new hardware I am allowing the card to be properly configured instead of using computer settings (not graphics card settings) that were configured by different hardware. Just me but this gives me peace of mind instead of wondering if it's properly configured and if I'm getting the most from the expensive picture-producing-electrical-thing I've invested in. Cheerzen
  24. What a bummer....I'll keep mine as is for the time being methinks. Cheerzen ODH
