  1. GPT can be a PITA as I found out, but only because I went from a UEFI to non UEFI board, and back to UEFI. This necessitated completely reinstalling Windows each time. Swapping UEFI capable boards should not present the same issue, and resilience is a big selling point along with > 2TB drive support for using GPT.
  2. I phoned Microsoft, well they phoned me after I went through their web support options. Nice chap from India entered a new key, Windows 10 Pro now activated. Cost? Zero apart from 15 minutes or so watching him use logme in
  3. Result is in, Windows needs reactivating and a new key. Only $200 for the pleasure, so Win 7 or 8 install and upgrade it is then.
  4. There is a difference between OEM and retail versions of Win 7 and upgrade ability post 10, OEM is tied to the hardware, retail is not. About to find out for myself today, replacing son's mobo and will have fingers crossed. Will report back (my win7 keys are all technet so *should* be retail equivalents... ho hum).
  5. Damn he must be using TOR to get access, need to work harder on preventing his radical message broadcasts... Good to see you again Kelly!

    3D Modeling

Plasticine.. Used to spend an age constructing intricate 'spaceships' including the control panels and occupants then 'crashing' them and doing an autopsy of sorts. I should have had a therapist, probably still need one now...
  7. Did Nick leave anything? Or will he be selling something soon
  8. As has been suggested neither install has a reliance or is linked in any way with the other. Input configs would need to be saved, as has also been suggested. Question is though, why? Is your disk that full?
  9. 7 MBs is not the same as 7mbps http://web.forret.com/tools/bandwidth.asp?speed=7&unit=MB%2Fs Many people confuse the terms and quote MB when they mean mbp (I know you know this Nick just providing the info for others)
  10. Impressive demo of it there Fen! I need to reinstall DCS and grab the beta too.
  11. I got it free too

    3D Modeling

You can do incredible stuff with Blender Snacko, and that is free https://www.blender.org/features/ Very nice work there Rox, my son has been modelling swords and stuff in Blender so I know the skills at play here!
  13. So why was the handler telling us to F Off at the end?

    Ssd Problems

Perplexing indeed. Have you tried a CMOS factory reset? The delights of RAID 0 where no parity exists, and either drive having issues will result in meltdown. http://knoppix.net/ has a disk test utility too, and is frequently updated. Have turned on SMART reporting in BIOS too?
  15. Nice! Loved this extra I saw on the page: So Adele is a slapper eh?! No wonder her songs are so depressing
  16. Happy Birthday Nick
  17. Salute BG, sadly missed.
  18. That is excellent!
  19. Signed Not that I have seen an issue personally, but then I have not used the programming part yet
  20. Some of those pigeons are worth a lot of money I recall!
  21. Tap F8 and try chkdsk c: /F as well. Rarely hurts Badgers and pigeons huh? We have a stray pussy. Do I win? Joking aside - the cat is emaciated, the sister of the owner is about to drop her first child (Wednesday) and the poor cat is nearly always out 24/7 fending off bobcats and other critters. She is so loved her name is 'Kitty' seriously...
  22. You have to actually use the PM within the forum software. Replying, as some do, to an email notifying you of a PM goes to the admin email account, which is a non existent account (it got too much spam and had little benefit). You can PM by clicking on the envelope icon top right, or by hovering over a users name in a post and clicking the pencil like icon too.
  23. Fixed the group membership thing

    #proud Dad

Congratulations Heather and Jessica! That time of year rolled around fast, and upwards and onwards for them both My youngest, Alix, had her first day ever in a US school yesterday, having been home schooled for a year. Despite the stress she summoned up the courage and walked through the door and started her day. Made some friends already, having a Brit accent helps - seems like most of the 1300 pupils at the school know of her already! Honors classes too for her - #ProudDad#2
  25. Got one system her not liking the upgrade, youngest daughters AMD FX60 equipped system (yes it really is that old yet Skyrim and Fallout 3 play perfectly on it ). Goes through the motions, on one of the reboots it gets stuck. Overnight even it still has that maddening whirly circle thing. Time to roll up my sleeves I guess!
