If I could make a suggestion Mick, you might be better off looking for a core 2 quadcore CPU. IIRC they have the same pinout as the core2 duo +++EDIT+++ Just checked and the core2 quads use the LGA775 connection which is the same as the core2 duo and therefore should be cross-compatible (it worked for me on my rig anyway) Look for a Q9650 or Q9660 as they were the last and fastest of the CPUs in that range. Sadly I sold mine when I bought the i5 otherwise you could have had it gratis but hopefully someone here might have a spare.
