I just saw it, and it was a fairly middling war movie. Fraught with war film clichés, with verything from the brawling enlisted man who repents and attempts becomes a better man, the self-sacrificing officer, and the screaming sergeant (quite possibly the only character in the film with any form of character), and a sadistic SS guy. They even did the "it has been a privilege" line.

A few sub-plots run throughout the film, such as the Norwegian-american officer, most of which remain largely unexplored. Sean Bean plays essentially a 1940's Sharpe (albeit with a better haircut), and the main protagonist is lacking in depth and complexity. A few action scenes strung loosely together with a few character moments does not really give the audience much to engage with.

The film was apparently on a very small budget, and it shows in a number of places, with poor cinematography and special effects that belong in a 60's film. At the least it is not a another Michael Bay or Bruckheimer film.

To summise, an attempt at making a modern Where Eagles Dare simply yields a film with spotty acting and poor pacing.
