Dino
Hey guys, For those that dont know I live near to Manston airfield and my neighbour owns the flying school. As his father was in the Red Arrows the RAF use his hanger to make running repairs, refuel and overnight aircraft including the Battle of Britain flight. A Hurricane had to land unexpectedly and so he called and asked me to get out there quick to see it. I have put an album on the site with some pics.As he has some interesting aircraft I will spend a bit of time on describing their history. First the Hurricane. It arrived with a Chipmonk escort and ground staff for a radiator repair. There are several photos in the album and a pic of me ith both pilots who were great guys. Apparently it is really a 2c but painted to mock the earlier version. There are several pictures of Marks planes one is a Delfin. The Delfin was owned and flown by his father who was a Red Arrow pilot. He suffered a bad crash and never flew again so it sits there. The Delfin wreck outside landed and the owner was never seen again.??? The Erco is owned by a couple in there 70,s who fly it regularly. The Stearman is his pride and joy but as he has recently been banned on medical grounds he doesnt fly it. His school runs lessons, daytrips, etc.... Fruitbat lives close so if they schedule to come back to Manston I promised to call him ASAP... really nice to get so close.

BadAim
What's that bird in the second photo with the G-HELO markings? It looks like a very serious aircraft for civil duties!
Dino
Sorry Todd, the only pic I got was spoilt by the light reflection. If they come back I will try to get Fruitbat here as well and we will have more time to take pics I hope. I am not sure what that aircraft is as its privately owned but I think Mark said its one of the most expensive there. I am trying to persude him to let me get rid of that old Delfin that has grass growing around it. Fat chance HUH....Lol.
