  1. The producers of this beer commercial borrowed a small 150 seat cinema playing a popular film, and filled 148 of its seats with rough-looking, tattooed bikers, leaving only two free seats in the middle of the theater. They then allowed theater management to sell tickets for the last pair of tickets to several young couples.

    What would you do?

    Watch till the end .....

  2. Mayhem & Arthur

Sorry for taking so long to reply guys.....

Firstly thank you for all the advice. I have tweaked my settings (Mirror off, grass ect) PS Mayhem, I don't have TRACKIT...l... yet

So the result is that the lagging has now completely disappeared. I have flown online for up to 90 planes and no problem..

I have to admit, i am getting addicted to COD.. It is such a beautiful simulator and feels so realistic! I keep on thinking back to late 1939 through to late 1940 that this is what it must have felt max climbing to altitude over the channel to intercepting some bandits... This simulation is becoming fast everything I hoped it to be... I love the realistic modeling and complex engine management..

So my closing thoughts, if this is the start of what is to come for COD.... then imagine what it will be like in 5 years time (When compared to the development and community following of IL2 1946)

Surely the start of something quite spectacular.........

  3. Ok so here are my first thoughts... I have updated COD through Steam and assume that it is fully up to date.I have maxed out the settings on my system

    System Spec

    INTEL Core i5 2500K Quad Core (3.3Ghz)

    CORSAIR 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM

    ATI HD 6950 2048MB

I started out on a free flight over the ocean. The scenery is beautiful (Love that ocean). I immediately felt at home in the cockpit of my Spitfire and could imagine what it must have been like flying up and down the coast of England in the Summer of 1940.... Finally a simulation that is starting to deliver the reality what I have always searched for...

So I though time to head back towards Dover. I quickly put the spit on her left wing and headed towards the coast. En route I mapped some controls to my X45 and did some aerobatics... I now really am enjoying this simulation laughing7.gif..

I then start seeing the faint outline of the British coast and trim the spit out to fly straight and level and leave her to head for home... This is where the fun started... icon_cry.gif

I started noticing what I can only describe as lagging the closer I got to land, it was more annoying than anything and all of a sudden all the bad things I have read about COD started to hit home.. I so badly want this simulation to be what I hoped...

At this point I shut the game down to join Sweper on some coops on IL2...

Today I am going to start playing around with my settings to hopefully get this problem sorted.

As always not to reinvent the wheel does anybody have some advise on what to do first? Any tweaks I need to consider??

How to I record frame rates in COD? I think I need to set a bench mark before I start tweaking the simulator...

    Looking forward to any advice!

  4. I had the pleasure of going for a pint with Jabo last night, a true gent and passionate person when it comes to warbirds, beer & strapping on a vintage plane and raising hell in the skies!!

I really enjoyed listening to all the stories of "Flying Legends" and what the dogs got up to after a "couple" of pints of Spitfire... Chaps, you all rock! I will most definitively be joining Legends 2012....thumbsu.gif

Cheers Nick for a thoroughly enjoyable evening! We must make a habit of it!!

If any other Dogz in the Coventry / Northampton area wants to meet up one evening, lets make a plan!!! I promise..... no talk of shaun_v2.pngevil.gif

  5. Cheers MT thumbsu.gif Ill give it a whirl tonight and test it online :) Appreciate the help!

So the last few days has been a steep learning curve, but hell, I enjoyed every second so far!!

So to date I have installed IL2 and all the updates and started tinkering with my x45....

I was not happy with the curve settings of my joystick, but then again also did not understand how different curve settings affect the joystick, well after a lot of reading and tinkering (Im using Joy control) finally have the aircraft responding to my inputs aggressively, but not immediately going into a high speed stall or spin... (Ill need to do some flying online, to see if I can push the envelope more.. time will tell)

So I now have a basic platform to start working from... Next is mapping the joystick, so one again looking online for x45 profiles and some more reading it has become clear that there is not a standard set of controls to map, every body is different and wants different levels of reality, but as I am going to fly with the DD it makes sense to see what standard set of controls I need to map on my X45 so that I can fly online without shame (My first attempt at online flying ended up with me sitting on the runway unable to start the engines of my P-38 blink.gif, by the time I (with help) figured it out, I was alone on the runway lol!!)

What I have mapped so far is..

    Flaps (Up / Down)

    Gear (Up Down)

    Cowl Flaps / Radiator

    Emergency Power (WEP)

    Select Left Engine

    Select Right Engine

    Gunsight

    Brake

Ok so this is my baseline... What other controls do I need to map??

    HI Flyboy,

SVMapper is a (Free) PC controller utility to assign commands to controller inputs. It can handle inputs from multiple controllers. I use it and it works really well. There is a download link here: http://thommos.com/m..._op=MostPopular

Give it a try. Its also pretty simple to setup.

    MT

laughing7.gif Yup, I know the feeling.. Ctr-E it is then!!

Don't forget to map the eject button someplace handy. I find it exciting to always try to survive. Even after a Dog has removed my left wing and bloodied my nose.

    Cheers Pooka thumbsu.gif

I will be mapping this afternoon and then online tonight!

    Here are a few others:

The bombing keys above from another poster are the same I use. Get to work, call if you need help.

  6. Fireman,

i have to confess.. After watching the videos on programming the SST software, I realized that I have not been activating the profile.. blink.gif

    Idiot = me!!

make sure when u program the controls into the stick (i am assuming an x45 or52) that u enable the profile u created before u start up the sim.

  7. Cheers for uploading the videos Crash.. I tried registering on the forum, but the forum is closed to new registrations.. ?? Bloody typical!! I have send an email off to Saitek in disgust, but now dont mind :) The videos are available!! thumbsu.gif

    Thanks mutt :)

I downloaded the configuration software for Saitek but I must be doing something wrong as I have configured lots of buttins using the different modes, but when I start up IL2, none of them are recognized in the game.. So I opted to configure the buttons using the IL2 in game configuration, but this does not recognize the different modes so limits the amount of buttons I can use :(

    Any Ideas?

    Try watching these videos :thumbsu:

Hey Pooka, that would be much appreciated!!! thumbsu.gif All the help I can get would help.. no point in re-inventing the wheel now is there :)

Those are the controls on my keyboard, I have a MSFFB2 joystick, it also has about nine controls, (brake, guns and next enemy/friendly views). I also use a CH Throttle and there are a couple dozen on it, some duplicates of the keyboard. I can send them if your interested.

    Good luck

  8. Thanks mutt :)

    Hi, quick list

    Select all engines

    toggle wing fold

    toggle arrester hook

    dive brakes

    center track IR :)

    nav lights

    supercharger up

    supercharger down

padlock enemy ground (very handy if your eyesight isnt as good as it should be)

    drop tanks

I am sure that there are some more :laughing7:

it might be worth getting a Saitek Pro gamer control pad it gives another 20 buttons more if you use the modes.

Place them where it suits you, but it can be hard to remember which button does what ;)
