  1. HI,

It really is a weard feeling for me.... CLOD is finally available in NA and I'm downloading it from Ubisoft at the moment and yet I don't know if I should be happy and at the same time I'm afraid to be disappointed. Right now I'm letting its download manager do its job and I will be trying it out today or tomorrow for sure. I have ordered the software on 7 Feb 11 and finally its here :) :-/

yep...just got home and noticed it had finished d/l'ing from steam. it started, so we are definitely heading in the right direction...now to read. :icon_study:

  2. OK, all sorts of goodies arrived in the post this morning, so I'm going to take a few days to read up on the source material before deciding on paint, particularly for the interior.

Here's a quick question though, the model comes with optional underwing wockets/wails as well as a belly drop tank - do I fit these or not?

    Jabo

Typically the instructions will tell you about the mix that can be underslung...for instance, I am working on a P47 that could be built as two different a/c and each variant has different underwing stores depending on the role it would fulfill (ground atk/escort/etc) I opted to go with a bomber escort version eliminating all except for the belly tank.

  3. So cyano works over paint eh? Interesting.

Thanks for answering an unasked question about how you glue photoetch parts to the model.

I've ordered the kit from Hannants - airfix 1:48 seafire. Cheap n' cheerful plus big enough not to be too fiddly. Researching colour schemes now.

Got a load of other goodies on order too. Quite exciting really.

Also bought a big pack of blu-tack and several dozen cocktail sticks.

    Jabo

Yep....I use it for all sorts of PE; ship railings and decks are normally prepainted before marrying, and I just run a line of cyano at the joint. Havent had a problem. For larger items, I use tenax 7r which is the same as micro-weld; the paint definitley needs to be cleared away before mating the surfaces together.

Oh and make sure you get some super glue with different curing times, some things you want a little more time to work with. Once your satisfied, just spray a little zip kicker in the area and the glue cures instantly.

  4. pantyhose and a vacuum cleaner to defeat the rug monster and recover small fiddley bits that tend to fly off, defy the laws of physics, and never land where you expect. :thumbsu:

I don't see how hoovering whilst wearing pantyhose will help

    Jabo

Its all about support...wouldnt want to throw a clot while vacuuming. :bg:

Seriously...What toad said, if you were serious; which I hope you weren't THAT serious, but if you were...then yeah, what he said. ;)

  5. Maybe I should have wet down the spots where I was applying and also tried to wet my fingers or a sponge to wipe it down before it set. I have looked at tons of videos on Youtube on different techniques, but have not see a good one on using putting! I need to practice this. I also purchased a new airbrush just at the end of winter, but spring and summer came and I have not used it yet. Hopefully next winter I'll get back into modeling again.. Cheers.

Snacko...you can also use squadron white or green putty, which is what i use. I mix it with nail polish remover to get the consistency i need then brush or use a putty knife to apply.

Nice work on the 262 so far. I am trying to come to completion on a 47 I have been goofing with for a couple of months. I dont build very fast or frequently. :D

  6. Oh that is cool! Thanks for posting MT!

HI David, yes it is cool for sure :) I just tried it and it is a lot o fun. I find it hard to give the right corrections to adjust the artillery fire cause they are so bold and sometimes you just cant get it to fall where it should. The fall of shots covers a lot of ground. I love this Arty Observer Stuff :)

    MT

Yeah...it looks like it will be impossible to do any corrections less than 1000 meters in any direction. hopefully there arent too many targets that fall 500 m from spotting rounds...that could make for some very long missions as you wait for that one gun to fall out of alignment and launch an errant round. :laughing7:

  7. Greets,

I had talked to Prop and Gus about joining your squadron. After searching for some type of "New Member Form", Prop directed me to B16Enk who subsequently directed me to the general area of the forums. I am Wolfp and am looking for a home (go ahead and get the urination jokes out of the way...they dont hurt so much anymore). I recently left the Warhawks after about a year. No hard feelings, it was just time for me to go. A little about me:

    Age: 43

Occupation: Retired military but now in Government Service (yes, one of those evil doers that Fox News keeps harping about)

Location: Eastern Standard (North By Gawd Carolina to be exact)

Family: yes, but both kids have been booted from the compound; CINCHOUSE tolerates this hobby, it keeps me out of the bars

Sims: Played multiple but have more or less settled on IL2 and ROF, but am waiting...patiently...for CoD to be released

I've had the opportunity to fly with a few of your pilots, BadAim, Gustang, Propnut, Jedi, Jack, AP, etc., and have found them to be a good group (well...maybe not Prop; he kinda falls into the mediocre column) and would like to think I would be a good fit. Here's to hoping you look upon this plea favorably, and if my association with Prop has any impact, I really hardly know him at all. Look forward to hearing from you.

    Cheers!

    R/JB (aka Wolfp)
