Old but good. Question: Who was the first operator of the F-4G? Answer, the United States Navy. https://theaviationgeekclub.com/remembering-u-s-navy-f-4g-phantom-perform-automatic-carrier-landings/?fbclid=IwAR2bvnltul6lEt1OeGgvptGQ7_UukeT_F3PVvqrgchd9AQZvkMRuTQ81AIg

    Alex Trebek

The well known host of the U.S. game show "Jeopardy!" has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. This is an extremely aggressive cancer, remaining life usually measured in months, if not weeks. https://www.etonline.com/alex-trebek-reveals-hes-been-diagnosed-with-stage-4-pancreatic-cancer-121027?fbclid=IwAR2yYNSHNZlzOfxysd7tDdSCC8fmFsizEimRZGrYnQFndgmAFXs1CNGFOhc
  3. Kinda behind the ball on this one, but here's DCS's manual for the F-14B: http://www.heatblur.se/F-14Manual/index.html
  4. Arthur, that's a big "maybe". Generally, the Beta becomes the Stable number at some point, at which the old Beta number becomes the Stable number and a new number becomes the Beta. It's a vicious repeating cycle. The only real reason for installing Beta is for early access to new features. Give it about two weeks (or so, depending), and it should update.
  5. Got kicked out of the bar after my 5th attempt at singing 'Danger Zone'. Apparently I'd exceeded my allotted number of Loggins attempts.
  6. So yes, Crash, you (and the rest of us) will need DCS Open Beta version of the game to run the F-14, until DCS okays it for stable version.
  7. Of note, the white writing panel behind the UHF radio (left side, behind the throttles) is dynamic, meaning you can set the frequencies written on it in the Mission Editor.
  8. Looks like Fen is correct. First response: "Almost all new aircraft are pushed to the open beta branch first, and then to the stable branch the following week. It's a safe bet that the 'cat will be the same. " But it's not a DCS moderator, so it's still possibly up in the air. The good news is that that situation shouldn't last more than a week or so, before the aircraft is moved to stable DCS. Here we go, straight from Heatblur: "Our F-14B will release first to the open beta branch and then when ED feels that open beta version is ready it will then transition to stable. This is how things are usually handled in DCS afaik."
  9. We should know shortly, as I just posted the question on the DCS F-14 forum.
  10. Crash, the answer should be "NO, you do NOT need DCS Beta installed. The STABLE version should be fine. It's the module itself, the F-14B, that is in Beta form." I think. Can't guarantee it, but I'm 95% sure this will be the case. Translation: We should all be flying our Beta version of the F-14Bs on the newly installed Dogz DCS Stable server on day one of release: March 13th/14th.
  11. ED has posted a "Trap Sheet", which is a kneeboard visualization of your last carrier approach, giving you indicators as to how close you were to where you are ideally supposed to be. There are a few other new and interesting odds and ends mentioned in this post as well. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=231374
  12. Arthur, there are two versions of DCS available. The 'stable' version is currently 2.5.4.27430, which was the previous Beta version number. The current Beta number is 2.5.4.28090. Version number is displayed on the main screen in the lower right corner. If you run both, you'll need two totally separate installs of DCS on your machine, and two execute files, of course. I have both installed on my storage drive, one under 'E\DCS World' (the Beta) and one under 'E\DCS 2.5 STABLE' (the stable version). Both have their own individual .exe files inside their separate game folders. The beta is the "development" version, implementing new things for testing by the community to look for faults. It's also a nice way to get a head start on new features, but most of us, including myself, run the stable version almost exclusively. Here's the link to the download page. Note the three different versions. 2.5 Stable. 2.5 Beta. 1.5 ("Legacy"). The top one, 2.5 Stable, is the one being currently run on the Dogz server. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/
  13. Very nice FT. Thank you kindly. I will watch the fireworks that were previously A-4s. Who's bringing the marshmallows?
  14. Not quite that bad, but I did do the whole 'bicycle helmet' etc. thing for "increased realism". Man, that Jetfighter II was THE thing back in the day. Many hours spent in that F-14 with my friends. Here's a DOS emulator that runs it right on the web page: https://classicreload.com/jetfighter-ii-advanced-tactical-fighter.html
