  1. True, not a Cobra, but the kind of move that a Cobra capable aircraft would be able to pull off is where I was going with that.

    And yes, that could possibly have been staged but we would only guessing at that.

  2. For ninety bucks you get early, limited access to thirty per cent of the game - probably next week - a couple of unique skins and you'll save yourself about ten dollars in the long run.

    This early access will be a test map of 50 x 50km and the LaGG3 with no guns on a seventy-two hours a week basis for a couple of months.  Initial access to the game will be Tuesday to Thursday only.

    I put my cash down early as I wanted to help them get it all up and running rather than have early access so I'm not too bothered but I wonder if the fifty deal would not suit some better.  You'll get access probably after Christmas by which time there should be some gun play involving the '109..........hopefully and the map should be more developed............hopefully.

    Am I understanding this right, you will only be able to fy on Tuesday to Thursday each week?:huh:

  3. a post from over at Joint Ops

    "It is tempting. I have been flying the DCS P51 for about a month now and love the flight model but am getting frustrated with not being able to shoot down the FW190. I can see the hits but I never seem to make any critical ones. I assumed it was lack of skill on my part until the day I shot off the tail and a new one grew back shocked.gif (I have the track); so, I am a little skeptical about the damage model and not sure I want to invest. But thanks for posting the links."

  4. $1,000,000

    • Everything at the previous level, plus:
    • A flyable Boeing B-17
    • A flyable Luftwaffe plane (Me 410 A or Ju 88, as voted for by the backers)
    • Romania, new large gameplay map
    • 4 new single-player campaigns for the new aircraft and theaters

     Can you imagine many going for this level of expense for a sim.

  5. Hi
    Where do I find [DGen] in the Conf.ini?
    I have instructions on setup for a campaign that reads:
    ____________________________________________________________
    IMPORTANT: Recommended settings for the [DGEN] section of the CONF.INI:

    My settings are these

    [DGen]
    RandomFlights=3
    ;UseParkedPlanes=0
    HistoricalRanks=1
    NoAirfieldHighlight=1
    MaxFLAK=40
    MissionDistance=75
    MaxBomberSkill=0

    Very important is

    MaxFlak:

    I inserted a lot of anti aircraft guns in the Berlin map, make sure that MaxFlak is NOT more than 40 or you will have a flak hell over Berlin. With 40 you will have a lot of flak, adding immersion. If you don´t like it, experiment with less than 40.

    MaxBomberSkill:

    Set it to "0" or the sniper gunners of the Fortresses will shoot you to pieces from huge distances.

    DISABLE "UseParkedPlanes"

    or the campaign will crash when changing to the NWE and Ardennes maps.

    I just don’t see [DGen] in my Conf.ini

    Do I just add this to my Conf.ini?

  6. Humm, I am no expert but I had no problem.  I set up a left hand pattern to drop altitude and speed.  I like to be on final at 200kmh, prop pitch at 100 (fine) if you need the power you want it now, not wait for it to slowly pick up speed. I keep all 3 engines running during the landing.  I have it to takeoff flaps on final, as I actually approach the beginning of the runway I hit landing flaps, going about 150kmh now.  I watch airspeed, chop throttle and flare just above ground.  If tail does not drop for some reason I raise flaps to get it down, but that does not seem to be a problem.

    Found this site for an explanation on what the gauges are, as I fly with the inflight gauge info in the lower left corner of the screen turned off and you have to be able to find the gauges to fly.

    http://www.ju52-3m.ch/diverse/Ju52_v60_ref.htm

    At the bottom of the page is a link to the aircraft’s checklists.  Nice page.

    I also found the rather opposite engine / turning plane response as well when on the ground. If you know the peculiarities of the engines on the ground (seems to work opposite to logic) you can turn “control all engines off” and select the engines individually to really get you turning around on the ground pronto.

    Still have to fiddle with the engine mixture settings as of right now, as I don’t have the drill down yet.

  7. Been trying my hand at flying on the JU52, just to add some variety.  Nice bird, very short takoff.

    How do I get to sit in the co-pilot seat?  My “C” command only will get me to the gunner position, which I can’t seem to control either; (move gun and fire) I will have to figure that out as well.  I could do that at one time, I must have changed something along the way.

    At what alt. do I drop the mixture at?  Seems like somewhere just above 1000m it should drop from 100 to 80.  What alts. after that?

    The radio beacon compass is a nice feature, too bad no radio transmitter towers in current SEOW.

  8. What link to utube did you look at, must have been some past open house, this year's might be totally different.  I will try to make time tomorrow to call the base and see if I can get info on what they have planned for this year.

    I fly with some pals (IL2) on Saturday afternoons, so if I am going to go I would have to be back in B'ville before 3.  With that in mind I would be inclined to go on a morning / early afternoon trip.  I doubt that they will put on much of a demonstration if is similar to one I have seen in the past, pretty tame.  Now if they had some WW2 warbirds on display and in action, that would be a different matter entirely.

    I don't blame you for going no matter what, like you are in Elk Point, and what goes on there, not too much.

    So what work are you doing in Elk Point?

  9. Amazing work.  It goes to show what a person can accomplish with a little imagination and know how.

    Also interesting to see how people fly in the sense of the buttons they use.  I have a CH set up, with both the regular throttle and the throttle quadrant for things like elevator trim, flaps, rad settings etc.  I find I have extra buttons that are not mapped to do anything.  If I had all my buttons mapped I probably would not remember the ones I don’t use every day.
