Today is the 70th anniversary of the death of the greatest female fighter ace of all time. An inspiring and tragic personality, Lydia downed at least 12 aircraft with her Yak 1 before she went missing in combat after her group was ambushed by 109's. She was only 21. It would take another 47 years until she would be recognised and posthumously awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lydia_Litvyak

Sweet Jesus if only I could eat these pictures. Most excellent folks, seems like you had an awesome time!

Really excellent, even if critically lacking in pink.

Weekday Clod Night

I'm good with either so wed is ok. -
You can't do anything to a guy hiding behind a tower shield with bows and crossbows. But in order to attack he can't hold the shield up at the same time and has to expose himself for a split-second. By far the best/luckiest kill I had yet - usually being this close to someone with a melee weapon while holding a ranged weapon is suicide.

Been playing it for two days now, I find the game excellent! Team objective gameplay centers around breaching castles to kill the king and similar objectives, team deathmatch is a simple team extermination match with the surviving team being the winner, and duel is a 1 on 1 game mode that is excellent for getting used to the dozens of different weapons and to perfect your skills. there are some other game modes as well. The combat mechanic is what makes this game incredible - it's really like playing chess on speed. You have a lot of combat moves and they can be combined in combos, parries, and you can even feint a move and then strike from the other direction while your target blocks in the direction of the feint. There are many combinations and all the weapons have their pros and cons. The weapons are very realistic, for example if an enemy blocks you weapon has to actually hit his blocking weapon/shield in order for the blow to be blocked. That means you can hit people in the head with overhead blows over their shield if they are not blocking high, you can swing a flail around a shield and hit them etc. Also, when swinging weapons, the tip of the weapon hitting does most damage as it moves the fastest, thus if you swing a long war hammer while very close to an enemy, you will hit them with the pole rather than the hammer head on the end itself, doing much less damage. It's all very realistic, variable and you really have to think and contemplate every move you make in fractions of a second, if you just swing madly you will die pretty soon. Note there is also a stamina bar so after several swings it will get depleted and you will be much less effective, tough it regenerates quite fast. I fell in love with the thrusting spear, nothing better than to stab someone in the belly before they can even reach me with their sword, but if they get close you're screwed. And the game is gory as hell, which is appropriate for a medieval combat game. There are also bows, crossbows, and even a sling with which you can use rocks (unlimited ammo) or more destructive lead balls which are limited. Obviously the rocks would need about 4 hits to kill an armored foe if not more, but it's great for finishing off enemies wounded by someone else. It's damn awesome to have three of your guys corner an enemy knight and bash him a bit, and then you appear 10 meters away and kill him with a rock Much to the dismay of your team mates probably.

This looks like a pretty awesome multiplayer game, medieval style battles with lots of slashing and bashing, as well as bows and crossbows, siege weapons etc. I'm considering buying it, has anyone already tried it?
-
Ah so it will be upside down.

This is really excellent, Fruitbat you better take some pictures when they reel it in if you're there.

This huge hotel in my town has been abandoned and decaying since the war. It was finally demolished a few months ago. And this is the large communist monument and museum on Petrova Gora, the site of a major field hospital of the WW2 Partisan resistance: There are big scary microwave antennas on top

The actual airbase, all destroyed and burned from the inside though.

Clod Not Dead Yet.....

I find it much more usable on fine pitch though, just with lower boost, it can maintain 2800 revs only it requires constant throttle control. If it jumps over 3000 for a few seconds by accident you can pull it back down with no apparent damage. -

It's supposed to be the Pause/Break key from what I've read, and while there is a very slight difference it isn't much compared to before when it worked... I jumped into a Spit 1 by accident and decided to fly it through, man this plane is a pain to fly. The coarse pitch is useless for anything but diving, the fine pitch requires lots of work on the throttle, flight with rather low boost settings and a third eye just to look at the RPM gauge constantly. After flying around for some half an hour and shooting at a few far 109's but not hitting anything, I noticed that my oil temp was not nearly as high as it usually is in the Spit 2a, so I thought this one may handle more RPM's so I pushed it to +3200 and after about 4 seconds the engine died It then dawned on my that, correct me if I'm wrong, an engine can sustain damage by simply spinning too fast regardless of temperature. So I went for another field trip in the beautiful Kent countryside. -

Yeah I use SMAA but it's not working since I fiddled with nVidia global settings. I reverted all the changes but it still doesn't work. Lol, DD_Rox was vulched by a steam engine. -

Escorted a flight of Wellingtons over France, shot up some attacking 109's, and while returning shot up at least 3 Ju-88 of which I got a claim for at least one, at the expense of my aileron controls. Despite this I still managed to shoot at one for a while, and just as I was expending my last bullets (only MG's on one side were still shooting) a 109 bounced me and hit my oil radiator. I went into a vertical dive to escape and luckily wasn't followed as my engine quit when I pulled out of the dive. I was now in the middle of the channel at some 8000ft perhaps and barely glided over the cliffs of Dover to crash land into a small field inland, my flaps and gear also failing to deploy from the damage. Just after making sure there are no building s in front of me as I landed I noticed a small wall that gave me a heart attack, but I think collision isn't modeled for it, or I just narrowly missed it. -

Does anyone have an idea why my anti aliasing fix is not working anymore? I fiddled with nVidia control panel global settings but now I switched everything back to application-controlled yet still my AA fix is not working? I tried coppying the files into the clod folder again but to no avail. :/ Those sharp jagged edges really hurt. -

Do the stats on ATAG take a while to update? My yesterday's kills are not counted in. It is a very serious obstacle to enjoying the game for me since it's not about flying or having fun at all but about point whoring... -

They often hold their head, if not all the time actually. Or maybe only in combat, as in "my hands will protect my head from bullets". -

They tend to lose this part often lol. Hans, fliegen sie die konvertibil Junkers variant? Hit the squishy parts. A slight tactical error on my part. Funny thing is after I lost the engine the Hurricane just started falling straight down vertically while the fuselage being aligned horizontally, had half of one wing and the entire other but it just kept falling straight and even any elevator or rudder input didn't change it, some kind of bug. Another bug I noticed is that suddenly my game stopped showing any bullet holes from hits on planes (it only showed the larger structural damage textures after many sustained hits on the same parts). The second picture is an example, I riddled that 110 with almost all the Hurricane's ammo but no bullet holes show even though the damage is there. Game restart fixed that. -

I was never shot down on this server that I know of, I mean I was damaged once and wounded but I made a semi-landing back on the airfield (one gear collapsed). Yesterday I got a 4-second burst on an 88 that I think went plummeting after that and a one second burst all over a 109, I'm hoping those died, and I also got some hits on another 109 that attacked Fen and me who ran away after that. There is some memory of colliding with a bomber during shooting but I can't make out if that was in IL-2 or Clod. Happens a lot to me lol. And the third party AA fix is marvelous. Hopefully my slight graphics card issues won't prevent me from enjoying this game further, I've had some driver/hardware related crashes that I've experienced with Skyrim and Clod for a long time now that I'm unable to diagnose despite googling it countless times. -

Really? Oh dear. I'd suggest a quick break for the intake of a moderate amount of alcohol and some very loud dance music in the company of a willing young lady. You are quite right about the things you mention Rox and Fruitbat's advice is completely sound. Lots and lots of bugs remain from when the developers abandoned this game. Nevertheless, a small group of unpaid enthusiasts seem to be making astounding progress fixing or improving many of the problems this game was left with and after flying their patch with some of the guys here I think they deserve all our support and encouragment. Yeah, I was just expecting too much at first and it seemed to me when I fired up the new game that it was the same things as a year and a half ago with the same pet peeves so I cringed a bit. Regardless, I flew with Fenrir tonight and I must say the game is growing on me significantly with each new play. Not only the superbly detailed aircraft and damage models but also the entire sky and space itself as a physical dimension just feel a lot bigger, wider, and deeper.I just need to sit down for half an hour one day and sort out my controls and graphics so I get a smooth ride, and I might be glued to clod regularly. I'll also look into the AA fix that Kev mentioned. -
That Glacier Girl photo has long been my favorite photo of any airplane ever.
