1. :thumbsu: Thanks to all the guys that tested my tweeked missions for 4.101. I have sent these out to whoever asked for them but they are all in the vault as Dino 4.101 coops and Dino 4.101 MDS dogfights. ( Also Attached if that works ) As you probably know its a good idea to read the briefs as I add lots of targets etc....Feel free to alter them anyway you wish, I do not worry about stuff like that. I am now looking to the future so if you like testing new stuff I am looking for some partners to test and collaberate using the latest abilities of the game. It really does not matter how experienced you are as this will be a learning experience for everyone and a chance to share skills.See the new post.

Enjoy, Dino.

2. Hey guys, it is good to be able to spend some time back in the game after such a crappy 9 months. I really missed my fun nights and of course mission building. Hopefully slowly I can get back into being a more regular target. Of course since my absence the game progressed through 4.0, 4.101 and now we have the RC0,RC2 and RC3. Being always involved in the mission building side I have been very interested in these new developements. Knowing how these things worked in the past I always keep a patched version of every stage. I know it takes up space but I have always found I needed them in the past. Ok so now we are flying coops on 4.101 clean. I thought I would start this thread to open up the whole debate on game versions, missions and where we all think the game is heading. I did not start the thread to cause arguments so please be nice. I am really interested in all you guys views and as alot of you are far more experienced than me its helpful. I keep looking but I cannot see a plus for this version against 2.01? I see lots of minuses, less planes and the need to alter the already built missions, perhaps someone can enlighten me. I hear that we are not running the RC3.3 because it has too many bugs. I have patched to this version and I have very minor issues. I hear things like problems joining planes etc... personally I think these things are extras and not as important as the things that do work. Someone said that the game seemed to be moving away from COOPS, I have a hard time knowing what we think COOPS are? The main disadvantages of flying COOPS are, people cannot join after the start, crashes on takeoff and known opposition. Add this to flying on the same radio frequency and splitting the group to me moves away from COOP and into dogfight. Coops for me is a squad working together as a team on a mission with set objectives. You can load the dogfight maps and fly it as a coop and cut those disadvantages out. If you do not want people to have more than one life tell them or alter the preferences in spawning? Having said that I would just like to offer my personal thoughts on why RC3 can be useful.

I have this idea for some missions that might be really interesting using RC3. ( This is just for those guys who do not build missions, not preaching to the experienced LOL ) We can now build maps and missions where bases can be captured and recaptured and resupplied. We can now put home bases and spawn points wherever we like. We can cut and paste whole areas onto new maps, limit lives and almost every other value can be adjusted. In the past it was really hard work to make "dynamic" missions but now it is relatively easy.

How about something like this: a mission built around the capturing of japanese held Pacific Islands. ( Once these maps are populated they can be saved as templates for the future in a template library ) The "Dogs" fly Allied , their mission is to simply capture, occupy and work out of these bases backed up by the task group(s). I can build this with lots of new features using RC3. I can put in advancing troops which will try to recapture bases that are overun. Resupply convoys that will replace destroyed supplies. Ground forces and Artillery, enemy shipping and recon, radar ETC We can alter bases so its possible to stop the RRR by destroying certain objects, produce arial maps showing where these objects are. The game is now only limited by our imagination and effort......Once built these could run for whatever time limit you like and of course can be reversed so we fly Japanes. Along with this we can split or play against other squads. I only see this type of thing running a few times a year but I think it could be fun. What would make it really nice is if we had a server like Toads and could run it for just this one mission. At the end it would give everyone a fantastic spreadsheet of info. Like I said this is not to start arguments about Coops, Dogfights or game versions. I would just like to hear what you guys think and as I love building things any ideas you might have or missions you like to fly. I have built a folder of COOP and MDS missions for 4.101 and they are available for anyone who wants them As usual alter them as you feel fit I do not get upset about that sort of stuff as you know. :thumbsu:

3. I have not messed with mission building since 4.10 came out. Now I am trying to fix my Midway MDS mission to work with 4.10 and I have noticed a few strange things...

1. My Homebases don't 'snap' onto a carrier anymore. Is that the new normal for Homebases, of should they still be snapping onto a runway object?
2. I noticed that all of my airbases were AirStarts now. And finally I found a checkbox that was checked that says 'Always Airstart'. That was not setup that way when I built the mission. Is that another new default? Hmm...
3. How do you get RRR to work in 4.10? Or maybe it does not exist? I cannot find it in the options. But I see Friction is till there. Friction used to be the box you had to check to turn on RRR before. Has that changed because I have it checked and the value is 3.0 and I still get no RRR menu item in the game..

Thx,

Snack

Hi Snacko.I have been absent for months now and used to love building missions. Since returning I have patched upto 3.03 and kept every version seperate so I can go back if necessary. As the dogs are using 4.101 I have worked on altering my old 2.01 missions I ran with Zuti1.3 so they will run on the version Dogs use on coops. Yes there are lots of differences I think. I had to form new folders and tweak lots of things to get the missions to work. Thankfully through luck and a bit of thinking mine work now. There is no rrr in this version as it works on zuti1.2 . Friction is there but thats because friction is used other than rrr. Although we do not use the RC3 version as a squad but my version works fine I am also building on that. Or at least slowly figuring out all the fantastic things that can be done and practicing them. I think once rc3 is less glitch free and it is more useable it would be a crime not to use it. I am only a dork but if I can help you just give me a poke. Dino..

4. Ditto m8, I haven't got the legs for the mankini though.

Jabo

Thanks mate, if you see me in private at any time on teamspeak and want to fly a few just drop down. I just want to make sure they have no issues and take onboard any suggestions before sending them to any of the dogs that host missions for the guys. And apparently according to other dogs your legs are your best feature...?pink or blue mankini?? :thumbsd:

5. Hi Guys, Its been along time but I do see a light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully I will be able to fly again and get my arse shot off by you all as usual. Whilst I have been away I have had time to come up with another cunning business plan. I could use some help promoting my latest invention the "MANKINI". Unlike my other failures the chocolate teapot, the silent alarm clock and my cooking book "Garlic and where you can stick it" This one is sure to be a success. Take a look at my advert here and if you would be interested in wearing one at Duxford let me know and I will run you up a sample. I will of course choose the more "suitable" applicants (Jedi of course is a gimme) The posing pouch comes in 3 sizes, pea, normal, Hernia and Jamaican. Be sure to specify your size. Only colour available at the moment is puke pink so if you really want to be noticed guys act fast.I personally am looking forweard to wearing it on coop nights as it is so comfortable. Dino.

6. Hi Jim,

I will try to get over to Manston at some point, make sure they don't forget about me, i will have to get into a c152 to do my 3 take offs and landings before I can fly the Stearman again, how is Sue doing after the accident? heard she got pretty smashed up.

Hi Mate yes she is fine. I think Natasha is more worrying right now and has had some bad luck. I think you will love flying with these guys. They are very flexible and helpful and there is always something to do. Although there are regular nights anyone can join in there is normally guys flying every night. We also fly campaigns and have loads of guys who build maps, missions, skins etc. See you online soon mate.

7. Hey guys, Thank goodness I think at last the last 6 months are behind me. I had so much going on I found it impossible to do much. I hope over the next few weeks I will be flying again and can join you all. I really missed the banter and friendship...oh and Todd :ass: . See you all soon and for those that kept in touch and wished me well, thank you. Jimbo. (Dino)

8. Hey guys I just discovered this nice ride and some great skins. I have been messing with codecs and card settings to see if I can improve on my captures. I put some screenies in and as I also found this nice track i made a video.

9. :roflmao:

Hey guys, I have uploaded the Dogsford video I just finished into the vault. To make it easier it is broken down into 13 seperate performances. These can be watched as individual clips or you can download them and join them into one film using Windows Movie Maker. I found it best to watch them through a DIVX player, for those not familiar with this you can download the player from here: http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus/codec-pack

Just follow the instructions then watch the videos through it after downloading them. Contact me if you need any help. Ok, first the track had warping in places due to connection speeds, smoke, map and amount of users so please excuse the editing. I had to dub the videos manually so I used poetic license for who said what when for effect, sorry again. I wanted to get this out reasonably quickly so it isn’t the quality I would have liked but hey, I tried . I sneaked a clip in with a Spit flight I did to test the map and sounds some time ago...hope that doesn’t offend anyone. Thanks again to all you guys who worked so hard to put this show together, Friar obviously for hosting the event , you guys that took the trouble to attend and support and of course all our leaders and admin. :goodjob: Its nice to be a part of the squad and I look forward to flying (Crashing, burning) with you soon.

Dino.

10. So after all that I was on TS3 with fastdad, knowing he could not hear me I hit transmit and.......he can hear me. The way I test my conection is to go to settings and test the mic. Before this update I could see the power line move when I talked and hear my voice. Now...nothing but apparently I can transmit. Matbe the next update will put it all back. LOL.

11. I have noticed lots of peolpe being kicked lately. To date I have spent 6 hours trying to correct this without luck. I have uninstalled both teamspeak and the drivers for my 2 headsets. I have tried every combination of re install. I get the same result every time. I can get my headsets to work 100% with any application but TS3. I can hear perfectly on TS3 but cannot get the mic to work. Before today I could get it to work on TS3 on everybody elses server except DD now they are all the same after I installed this latest update today. Maybe its my computor although as it works with everything else...I dont think so. Wits end.

12. Have we uploaded a newer beta server version of Teamspeak 3? This programme has given me so much trouble over the last few months it makes me wonder if we as a squad should consider a dedicated voice programme. Recently every programme that I needed a mic or headphones for worked perfectly except teamspeak. Even more frustrating is that I can use teamspeak for every group except Danger dogs? This morning I logged on and saw there was an upgrade so upgraded. Now if I use the old version I get my mic and headphones working but cannot join Dangerdogs as it now uses a newer version. If I upgrade I can join the server but get no mic??? I have a usb headset and a jackplug headset combo...both give me the same messages and throughout all this I can use them both perfectly on msn, skype etc... I will continue to work on it today...anyone else got the same problem? Of course I have checked all the settings necessary and its not muted, yes its my default etc.... IT WORKS PERFECTLY WITH EVERYTHING EXCEPT DANGERDOGS SERVER, frustrating right LOL :icon_cry:

13. Thanks Mate, yes from my studies it does appear carrier takeoff,s were restricted. I have read about boosted catapults being used and 5000LB loadouts off carriers, in any case even with these loadouts this is one bad aircraft LOL. :goodjob:

14. Hey Guys,

It apparently has been out some time but thanks to Jedi I have discovered the Skyraider. It came in a download of a few new aircraft and other things that instal as a package. This aircraft for me is awesome. It carried more loadout than a flying Fortress and has some nice weapons. Some are new so I have described below as close as I can the weapons it carries. Of course they will not work exactly as in real life but hey....its a game....right? I love this plane so much I have built a coop mission and an MDS mission based loosely on the first attacks using this aircraft in KOREA. I am going to build a few more but if you download and instal the addon then you can fly this when I host these missions.

The single engine Skyraider had a heavier maximum external store capacity (7,500 lbs.) than the four engine B-17 Flying Fortress (4,800 lbs.)

The Skyraider had four M-3 20mm cannons, two in each wing. Each cannon held 180 rounds. The rate of fire was a nominal 700 rounds per minute (12 rounds per second) per cannon. The cannons could be fired in pairs (inboard or outboard pairs) or all four at once.

The 20mm ammo was percussion primed similar to a conventional small calibre weapon. A firing pin struck the primer with sufficient force to discharge the round. This in contrast to more modern electric primed ammo which allowed higher rates of fire. The M-61 20mm cannon used in more modern aircraft had a rate of fire approaching 6,000 rounds per minute (100 rounds per second).

Percussion primed ammo caused misfeed and jam problems both due to its reliability (old Korean was vintage ammo) and probably old equipment. It was a relatively rare occurrence to return from a mission without at least one jammed gun.

15. Sorry Todd, the only pic I got was spoilt by the light reflection. If they come back I will try to get Fruitbat here as well and we will have more time to take pics I hope. I am not sure what that aircraft is as its privately owned but I think Mark said its one of the most expensive there. I am trying to persude him to let me get rid of that old Delfin that has grass growing around it. Fat chance HUH....Lol.

16. Hey guys, For those that dont know I live near to Manston airfield and my neighbour owns the flying school. As his father was in the Red Arrows the RAF use his hanger to make running repairs, refuel and overnight aircraft including the Battle of Britain flight. A Hurricane had to land unexpectedly and so he called and asked me to get out there quick to see it. I have put an album on the site with some pics.As he has some interesting aircraft I will spend a bit of time on describing their history. First the Hurricane. It arrived with a Chipmonk escort and ground staff for a radiator repair. There are several photos in the album and a pic of me ith both pilots who were great guys. Apparently it is really a 2c but painted to mock the earlier version. There are several pictures of Marks planes one is a Delfin. The Delfin was owned and flown by his father who was a Red Arrow pilot. He suffered a bad crash and never flew again so it sits there. The Delfin wreck outside landed and the owner was never seen again.??? The Erco is owned by a couple in there 70,s who fly it regularly. The Stearman is his pride and joy but as he has recently been banned on medical grounds he doesnt fly it. His school runs lessons, daytrips, etc.... Fruitbat lives close so if they schedule to come back to Manston I promised to call him ASAP... really nice to get so close. :thumbsu:
