  1. Great pics Squawk. Thunderstorm in the mountains can sometimes be pretty scary when it rumbling and echoes between the hills. Specially when you are in the middle of it, you think the lightning hit closer then it really does. I have been a bit to close a couple of times. Two times on the golf course the lightning struck only 100m away. I heard the sparkling noice from the lightning before it hit the ground. Another time on the sea where the lightning struck the cliffs also only a few meters away. Changed my pants after...
  2. Thanks again mates. I am fascinated of thunderstorms as well. Use to watch Storm Chasers in where you follow different teams chasing tornados. With the tornados comes also really heavy thunderstorms. I think it is from Texas, Oklahoma and upwards. There is also a guy who is taking photos on thunderstorms for living. Dont remember his name, but they showed an hour on tv and he took som really stunning pics. Would like to do something like that myself. ~S~
  3. Thanks mates. I contacted three local newspapers and mailed them a pic. But from my earlier exprerience, they have newer published anything from me. Morons! Edit: Sorry I lied, I have been published, a couple of times actually. Sorry HN if you read this. My bad..
  4. For some reason thunderstorms use to pass over my place. Maby because the river Atran is only 1km away. Rigged my camera on a tripod and after the 20th shot or so, I framed the flash. Pure luck when a flash last for milliseconds and it was way to bright outside. Best for flash shots is when it is dark and you can open the shutter and just sit and wait for the flash to be captured. Note the red car on the left, an 1965 Volvo PV 544 (the 444 had a split rear window).
  5. ~S~ Rattler. If I had looked more carfully, there was an explanation in the Nvidia control panel where I changed the settings. Sometimes I dont
  6. Forced the v-sync off. Now I got 57 avrage and 99 high. 26 lowest was same as before. Great improvment I will say. What does v-sync?
  7. Thanks for the info Jabo. What is strange, like I wrote above, is that I downloaded Nvidias newest firmvare, dated may this year, which they wrote should make almost every game **% faster. Not mine. I did som testing and in the Fraps-log below you could see the difference in avrage FPS. Dont know what changed. Fraps: 2009-05-15 20:43:50 - il2fb Frames: 7348 - Time: 145100ms - Avg: 50.641 - Min: 28 - Max: 62 2009-05-15 20:48:50 - il2fb Frames: 7345 - Time: 144564ms - Avg: 50.808 - Min: 29 - Max: 62 2009-05-15 20:52:41 - il2fb Frames: 7306 - Time: 144698ms - Avg: 50.491 - Min: 29 - Max: 62 2009-05-25 14:46:53 - il2fb Frames: 7205 - Time: 145166ms - Avg: 49.633 - Min: 29 - Max: 62 2009-05-25 14:50:45 - il2fb Frames: 7208 - Time: 144583ms - Avg: 49.854 - Min: 29 - Max: 62 2009-05-25 14:57:41 - il2fb Frames: 6468 - Time: 144316ms - Avg: 44.818 - Min: 27 - Max: 62 2009-05-25 15:01:38 - il2fb Frames: 6487 - Time: 144619ms - Avg: 44.856 - Min: 26 - Max: 62 2009-05-25 15:05:12 - il2fb Frames: 6136 - Time: 144650ms - Avg: 42.420 - Min: 26 - Max: 62 2009-05-25 15:13:46 - il2fb Frames: 6220 - Time: 144483ms - Avg: 43.050 - Min: 27 - Max: 62 2009-05-25 15:26:00 - il2fb Frames: 6233 - Time: 144180ms - Avg: 43.231 - Min: 27 - Max: 62
  8. Just downloaded new Nvidia drivers for my Gforce 8600 GT. When runned the Blackdeath nrtk it seemes that I get lower FPS then before! But it could be a coincidence, maby. A little strange thogh... Has anybody tried to overclock a videocard? I googled and found an intresting site that explains two ways of doing it. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1803&page=1 Either with a program named: Coolbits or a program named: Rivaturner. Using Coolbits you first have to do a minor change in the Register. Rivaturner seems a bit easier. Anyone tried this?
  9. ~S~ Thanks for showing pics Jack. Very impressing!
  10. ...who used to build plastic models like these: I did, many. Most of them were scale 1:72, but some scale 1:32 but they were much more expensive. I think I had almost every ww2 fighter and some light bombers as well. Revell was number #1! Most detailed and the plastic parts always fitted together. For painting the number #1 was Humbrol. The smallest tin cans and they werent cheap. It took maby a day to complete an aircraft, with gluing and painting all the details and put on the decals. When I grew older(?) and got tired of all the planes collecting dustbunnies in the wardrobe, a hang them up in a tree and used them as target practice with my airgun. Put some on fire so it looked more realistic. A couple of years ago I found a "Lindberg Line" kit of a ME-262 in a box in the basement. The box have not been opened yet.

  13. 974 point something. Went to my local pc-store and boght two more 1gb mem sticks, defraged pc, runned another test, but same result. The pc-store-guy said a better harddrive may make a better performance. I now own a 7,200 revs and he recommended a new 10,000 revs. Well, I´m happy anyway
  14. Thanks mates. Jedi, yes one area of the hangar looks like a aviation junkyard. They sure have a lot of work to be done and I really hope they will do it. There are great stuff to be renovated. I started with walking through the car section, and I was overhelmed by the amount of cars in such small area, squeezed together like sardines. Not much better in the hangar. But I think it is worth a visit.
  15. Couple of days ago I visited a nearby Aviation and car museum and took some pictures. Made a slideshow for easier viewing. Please read more here for additional
  16. Nice pics HH. I must visit an airshow soon. Last, and only,
  17. Thanks Trout. I did not mean to brag about it, was just so happy to take down the plane in a "controlled crash". I proparly had my 5% luck already. I thank Boomer and Painless for their landing and take off training lessons , without that I had proparly not made it at all. That explains why I passed Squawk without hitting him. Is there any way to spot a plane already has the chocks in place? Or is radiocontact the only way to find out?
  18. A picture from Sunday´s coop hosted by BG. Sweper managed to bring down his Corsair saftly on a carrier on his first attempt ever. Squwak had already parked his plane safe on deck which made it even sweatier avoiding a total disaster.
  19. Ok that make sense. For some reason I had the "Select/Unselect" set to start my engines. That forced me to unselect one of the engines before started up the other, if not, the first one stopped! Thanks mates. I learn something new every day
  20. When flying a multi engine aeroplane, is there an easier way to start the engines? Now I have to select engine #1- start it up - deselect engine #1 - select engine #2 - start it up - select engine #1 - trottle up and take off. For a newbie like me, it is kind of moment of stress keep in mind which engine are selected or not. It is very easy to turn one of the engines off pushing the wrong key. I wount think of the day I try with 4 engines...
