  1. That is indeed a cool effect. I was fooling around with ROF this morning and am continually impressed with the visuals and the flight model. I love these airplanes but my gunnery is pathetic. I can't hit the broad side of a hangar.

Firing guns and be accurate in a ww1 fighter was probably really difficult and I'm sure it took these pilots a lot of practice. I guess you learn very quickly when your butt is on the line :) My gunnery is poor too but I find that it helps a lot when you get closer to the target and then fire. Adjusting gun sight views helps too.

  2. Hey Roger, there seems to be "updates were applied do you want to reboot?" messages very often. I never mess with that menu, just restart the server. And of course there are several issues with errors from the RoF master server but those are out of our control.

I need to figure out how to edit the missions themselves to make them rotate, there are victory conditions that would do this but we do not have pilots enough using the missions to force this. I am sure the is a trigger someplace in the mission editor that would do a countdown but I have not spent the time searching for it.

Sorry to those that have been inconvenienced by the server issues, I will try to be more diligent in the future.

No worries David, There have to be an easy way to switch missions without having to edit them, I don't know. I'm away until Sunday. When I get back I'll try to look for an answer.

    Thank You.

I'm going to look into consolidating the RoF server with one (or both) IL2 servers.

The system is more than capable of supporting them, and I believe it has a 1Gb connection now too.

This will neccessitate rebuilding the server as a 2003 box, in order to use some of the 24Gb RAM that is available (the IL2 servers are running on XP with a 3.5Gb limit).

I can only do this during the weekend and it will result in the IL2 servers being down for a while.

All stats will be retained though :)

    HI Roger,

This would be great. A 1GB Connection would be perfect for RoF.

    Thank You.

  3. I don't know if there is a way of having our server reset itself after every 2 hours or maybe we should set the missions with one round only for 40 minutes with 4 or 5 missions loaded so the server would always be running with missions during day time and we wouldn't have to worry about it. Right now there is something wrong with the server. When you spawn in, there are some sections of the screen that are night time and some sections are day time. Its really weard.

  4. So the last few days has been a steep learning curve, but hell, I enjoyed every second so far!!

So to date I have installed IL2 and all the updates and started tinkering with my x45....

I was not happy with the curve settings of my joystick, but then again also did not understand how different curve settings affect the joystick, well after a lot of reading and tinkering (Im using Joy control) finally have the aircraft responding to my inputs aggressively, but not immediately going into a high speed stall or spin... (Ill need to do some flying online, to see if I can push the envelope more.. time will tell)

So I now have a basic platform to start working from... Next is mapping the joystick, so one again looking online for x45 profiles and some more reading it has become clear that there is not a standard set of controls to map, every body is different and wants different levels of reality, but as I am going to fly with the DD it makes sense to see what standard set of controls I need to map on my X45 so that I can fly online without shame (My first attempt at online flying ended up with me sitting on the runway unable to start the engines of my P-38 blink.gif, by the time I (with help) figured it out, I was alone on the runway lol!!)

What I have mapped so far is..

    Flaps (Up / Down)

    Gear (Up Down)

    Cowl Flaps / Radiator

    Emergency Power (WEP)

    Select Left Engine

    Select Right Engine

    Gunsight

    Brake

Ok so this is my baseline... What other controls do I need to map??

    HI Flyboy,

SVMapper is a (Free) PC controller utility to assign commands to controller inputs. It can handle inputs from multiple controllers. I use it and it works really well. There is a download link here: http://thommos.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=MostPopular

Give it a try. Its also pretty simple to setup.

  5. HI,

I went into the BIOS and diseabled Hyperthreading. Now I get this:

    Troopcores2.jpg

Its says that I have now 4 cores, 4 logical Processors but the Ressource manager shows me only 3 cores but I guess it is because it count CPU 0 as one so 0,1,2 and 3 would be 4 cores. Why can't I see the 8 x cores like Fruitbat and Propnut ?

In the BIOS I did not see anything about turning ON Cores individually.

    Thanks Guys !

  6. I've already voted in favour MT.

Can you not just use the skins anyway even if they're voted off?

    Jabo

    Hey Jabo,

Thanks. Yes you can still use the skin but with mods ON Only. When skins are not approved, they are not available in Multiplayer Mod Off (and this is what we fly all the time.

    MT

I've voted 'Trooper. Must admit I haven't made any comment as it's not a 'plane I fly too often and each time I do I think I'm going to break my stick! :laughing7:

    Thank You Arthur !

  7. HI Guys,

If you did not yet vote for our Dr1 Skins (MadTrooper's, Gustang's and JoeBob's) Please do so now. The poll will conclude on 25 Oct and at this moment they are at risk of not making it. 16 people have voted Yes (70%) and 7 have voted No (30%). I don't know what the pass mark is but unless we have a few more Yes, we might lose them.

Funny, no one has posted any constructive criticisms. I don't really kow what is wrong with them keeping in mind that they are suppose to be fictional.

Anyways, Thanks again for those that voted and supported us and to those that will make an effort and vote.
