Fooling around with Carrier Training Mission Generator last night. That utility is a lot of fun. Nice to be able to do carrier ops with non-naval airplanes. That's usually possible if you dial in enough wind or carrier speed. Still, things can get interesting without arresting gear.....
  2. Good find, TOAD.
  3. Great find, Capt Jack!
  4. Now that Friar has admitted to an ROF fetish, and Mayhem has shown an interest in jets, maybe it's time for true confessions. I've been guilty of both the above and am also getting a helicopter addiction. I like anything that flies, but helos have a fascination all their own. So 'fess up: anyone else here doing the rotor thing?

Looks fun, Mayhem, but those guys are speaking a language unknown to me! The only acronym I recognized was "WTF"!
  6. Nice, Brando. I'll add those to my collection!
  7. Found this on a London tube stop: There once was a fellow named Blair Who was doing his girl on the stair. But the bannister broke So he doubled his stroke And finished her off in midair. Is this a British classic, something like our American "There once was a man from Nantucket..."?
  8. Really nice. Painless is right; they look like greeting card pics.
  9. OK, I admit I'm a softie. But I love this vid:
  10. Thanks for sharing, Mayhem. That was worth watching. Can anyone identify the background music?
  11. Beautiful!
  12. I thought we Yanks had a monopoly on Political Correctness, but it's a global epidemic!

    A Good Read

Just came across this interesting read with lots of stuff about the Spitty.... http://www.warhistoryonline.com/featured-article/britain-at-war-taken-prisoner-by-the-germans-after-crashing-my-plane.html

  17. Thanks, Snacko. That's one of the first things I checked, but everything looked fine. It's kind of a random thing though, so I might have missed it. When I look at the RoF controls screen, I sometimes see things jumping all over the place; then it settles down, only to start up again at unpredictable times. I have another Bodnar board and a spare Hall sensor, so might try swapping in those components and see what happens. P
  18. Having a strange issue with controls in RoF. The ailerons will twitch, sometimes violently at random times, as though a signal spike is being sent by the joystick. I'm using home-made controls with the Bodnar BU086 board. I've checked all the connections, and they look fine. The puzzling thing is that this hardware setup is working perfectly with IL-2, CLOD, and FS2004. And it occurs only in roll, not in pitch or yaw. ??
  19. On the bright side, weed was legalized here in Colorado. I think I'll go buy a bong or something....
  20. One of you guys (I think it was Fruitbat or Snacko) mentioned this little single-board computer some time back, and I finally got my paws on one. It's essentially a minimalist PC about the size of a deck of playing cards, and sells for around $40. Storage is via an SD card, which contains the Linux operating system. It's powered by an iPad charger and has video outputs to a TV or monitor. The card also has two USB outputs and an ethernet port. More info here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/faqs and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raspberry_Pi Below are a few pics of my little rig. Not very practical but a fun project. P
  21. Hi Arthur, My system is a Core2Quad at 2.8 GHz with 16 GB of DDR2 RAM and a GTX 285 (1GB) video card. I turned off the mirror and gained about 4 or 5 fps. P
  22. CLOD arrived from Amazon yesterday. Installation and setting up the Steam account went OK. I fumbled around a bit with settings and controls, and did a bit of actual flying. Overall it was a good experience, considering my 3 year old PC. Frame rates (on Medium graphics settings) were in the 20-30 range. I love the cockpit detail and the scenery. I have a long learning curve ahead of me and I need some more computing power to take advantage of this simulation, but it looks promising.
  23. Congrats, Rox. Cool to have your first flight in Iran!
  24. Got it working.. Not sure but I think it was a problem with the path. Installed the auto updater and things are peachy. Thanks for the help! P
  25. Amazon is selling CLOD for $11, so I'm taking the plunge. Now I can be a bullet magnet in two separate games.... P
