  1. Don't know anything about CH stuff JP but I imagine that the CD had the pedals "driver" software on it that would be installed when the disc was inserted. With my Saitek pedals I can run them without the driver if I want but I still put it on - what I dont use with the pedals is the other software that allows you to customise the "brake" pedals etc because I can do that in the game via the "HOTAS" section at the bottom of the game's Controls section as I found there were some conflicts with other stuff.

Don't worry about the ID2 stuff - that happens apparently as the pedals are recognised by the game. I found that I needed to reallocate some controls in the HOTAS section for the Saitek stick and I also found that it doesn't make any difference to the operation of the stick if it is under ID1 or ID2 anyway.

Are you using the driver software for the Saitek stick?

  2. In pre-Mod days, I downloaded a set of skins that were put together at the same time the 409 beta was released to the community by UBI. They were a supplementary folder and contained replacement default skins when running 409. The list is as follows:

"New default skins pack for 4.09Beta

    Historical notes:

All skins were made to represent aircraft common for the Eastern Front. This means camouflage patterns, camouflage colours and theater-specific markings. Previously present specific markings not connected to the Eastern Front were deleted (such as the blue markings of JG 54 on the Fw 190 A-9 and the red-yellow tailband of JG 301 on the Ta-152H).

I found the folder recently when looking through some stuff and placed them into the standalone "Mod testing" game folder I have to see if they were affected by any mods as there is a file included that replaces a stock one and, not knowing if the mods had altered this wanted to try them as the skins are much better (IMHO) than the default.

I backed up a copy of the "fb.3do20.sfs" file in the main game folder and then unzipped the contents of the compressed folder into the same game folder. After some flying under QMB and watching some tracks using 4.09 unmodded and modded the skins are fine and look great.

I have uploaded the zipped folder into the "Skins" section of the Vault for those that would like it - mind you, at 225mb, is it too big?

  3. Ah ha....dragged you out Mr P. I'm at home today, got builders in doing some chimney work and so am making the most of it re. forums etc.

Duxford was superb last year and was topped off by the Hendon trip...looks like next year could be a real "pack" event

  4. If the accomodation is looking dodgy then I will be taking my VW camper...there is a site I have used before about 9 miles away from Duxford at Cherry Hinton, south of Cambridge. Could offer basic "camping type" accomodation to 2 - 3 people if they wanted it. Obviously a "bed and breakfast"/hotel etc would be more comfortable but, hey, if needs must.

A journey to Hendon camper-style might be a little sedate though.....

  5. While your at it look in In C:drive My Computer and see if there is an empty folder in there named

    y

I had it in both OS installs. I tried deleting it but it made no difference.

But It doesn't belong, and it may be a clue to what got us.

I've got that 'y' folder - can't check which drive it's on at the moment but it appeared , IIRC, after I put the 352nd update on. The one on mine is empty too.

  6. And if I try loading my Saitek X52 software. (more specifically the profile editor, my pc automatically re-boots everytime)

cant find my profiles either (.pr0 usually are found in the saitek directory are they not?)

    ideas???

I'm at work at the moment Andrew so can't look for the folder but my X52 profiles are not in the Saitek directory folder, the programme saved them into another folder somewhere else so don't assume they've gone. I will get back asap later today with the location unless someone gets there first.

  7. GK, no - it was one of BGs but there were only 4 52s flying to one of the islands and landing. Airfield got strafed by 2 x P47s but they bugged out after a couple of minutes.

Tonar - sorry, everyone sounded busy and I didn't think to say "Come and get it...".

  8. Assign a key in game to "View Icons" - pressing it cycles through the 4 options, one of which is none. For text, this can be done in the conf.ini file under "viewHUD", I think.

Alternatively, for both and more, instal "IL2 Stab" - a very useful programme that allows many conf changes without opening up the files.

  9. I thought you meant the soundcard too....

I get really p@##ed off on ebay with the MS FFB sticks - I've bid for one many a time (UK) but always loose it, sometimes at the last minute. I must have tried eight over the past year. The price over here ends up about £90 on ebay so I don't bother bidding now.

  10. I'm 95% happy with my 2 year old X52. .......I have a brand new X52Pro as a back up. I suppose the Pro does feel

slightly better, and has more spring tension....

From a man who has both, I reckon that's a good endorsement for either one, but the clincher may be

but I dont reckon its worth a £40-00 difference in price

Also, as Friar says, you can firtle with the config, modes etc because it is versatile and as like His Reverence, I am moving things around every so often and trying new stuff like macros. I went from an X45 with a juddering/sticky base plate so appreciate the smoothness of the 52.

I think the clincher though will be the cash difference....
