  1. High resolution cockpits

    Page here says it all https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/60671-mod-4k-cockpits-for-bosbombokbobp-planes/ Basically the cockpit resolutions have been doubled, those that are 1k to 2k, those that are 2k to 4k. The U2VS is already 4k so isn't included.  
    I have created this zip file in which there is a folder I created called "Oyster_KAI HiRes Cockpits 21Apr20". Inside that is the "data" folder and the folder structure for use with JSGME. Unzip and place the "Oyster_KAI HiRes Cockpits 21Apr20" in your Mods folder and enable it as usual. There are common files with the "polished canopies" mod so it will ask if you want to proceed, just say yes, the polished canopies mod will appear "greyed out". The "....21Apr20" part of the folder name is the day I created it.
    It is 1.64 KB when zipped, 2.51 GB unzipped. I will try to keep it updated.

  4. Dogz Icon Mod

    Up until recently I have used two separate mods for icons:
    1. ICON_D_D_NL_SM_T    As a default, this mod gives me a small red triangle/square over air/ground objects, removes arrows pointing to other aircraft and removes range and name information. 
    2. Icon_Map_Other_Planes_Off_3010C_2-15     As a default, this mod clears all aircraft icons off the pilot/driver's large map and minimap leaving pilot aircraft icon only.
    I have now combined these two mods into one mod and have named it 'Dogz Icon Mod v1.00' (bit presumptious of me, sorry) and it is the one I use but it is optional as I know others have their favourites. 
    I have also converted the above mod for use in tank battles only and called it 'Dogz Icon Mod - Tank battles v2.00' . It is meant for tank battles such as Friar's recent scenario and has what the previous mod has EXCEPT there are NO ground icons and NO tank icons on the maps.
     
    Please note that there are 2 separate mods in the zip file and only one should be activated via JSGME at any one time. 
    Please note that they should be considered a work in progress.

  5. Sherman navigation/observation exercise

    Want to have a go at something different, bit of fun? Got a pen and paper handy?
    I have attached a zip file containing a navigation and observation exercise using a Sherman. The route is below along with some questions along the way. It shouldn't take more an hour. Run it with the Tank Icons mod on or 'Icons/navigation off' as it wouldn't be as effective otherwise. Unzip the file into your data/missions folder, there should be 10 files beginning "Navigation exercise Sherman". It isn't a Multiplayer, it is a Mission.
    Apart from one, all of the sections of the route are on a heading but there are some sections of the route that are distanced, some are timed and some are on a heading to something specific as well. This will give you a few references to help you on your way and confirm some waypoints. When driving the engine is at 100% throughout.
    Ignore the route and waypoints on the mission map apart from the start point, I made it with the quick tank mission builder so they appear even though they aren't needed. Don't expect to shoot things, we have the Tank range for that  Use the HUD if you want but it can be done by using the compass.

  7. Navigation icons remover

    Within the folder 'ICON_NAV_Del' is a mod that removes all of the navigation icons from the air but not from your maps. It removes waypoints, target markers, attack/defend boxes from around aircraft, landing markers etc.
    The mod is in a JSGME ready folder that should be put in your game 'Mods' folder. It is compatible with the 'Dogz Icon' mods that we use. When activating it you will get asked if you want to continue because the 'Dogz Icon' mod (if installed) has already created the necessary folder - just say yes.

  9. Sid's cooperatives

    A zip containing the coops I host for the 'Old Git's' session. They have been run through the Mission Editor 'resaver' tool and they work ok.
    Unzip. Copy and paste the 'Cooperative' folder into '1C Game Studios\.IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of....\data\Multiplayer'.

  10. Tanks merging

    This is a .zip file containing 2 x mp4 videos of the tanks merging, recorded from the tracks created on 31 Dec 20 by Painless, Sweper and me on the Tank Crew Dogfight map. I am in the Panther, Painless is in the camo T34, Sweper in the plain T34. We tried it both inside and outside the Flag area just in case there was some issue. As can be seen, the issue is between Sweper and me, Painless is unaffected 😏
    To run the tracks in game place the TRK Files and their File folders into the 'data/Tracks' folder of your game. They can be viewed via 'Flight Records' in the hangar screen.

  11. Tank crew positions and associated actions, views and keys

    Maybe some of you will find these useful...
    I have attached a jpeg piccie each for Allied and Axis that shows, by type, the actions and default key mappings for each crew position. I found it really useful to go through the positions and try the mappings available to see what occurred. I found some interesting stuff eg.

    KV1 commander operates the rearward firing machine gun from within the turret
    Lots of visor views
    The Sherman visors are height and horizontally adjustable so they fit your field of vision
    Some of the views from the gunner’s visor positions in some of the tanks would in real-life be from the loader’s position. This position isn’t modelled hence the view from the opposite side of the main gun when cycling through the gunner’s visor views
    Russian gunsights have extra zoom....German don't
    If you have a look and find something on them that may not be right or have found something else please let me know 🙂

  17. MiG3 4K

    A 4K skin for the MiG3. This is a representation of the scheme worn by '27' of 7 IAP in 1941. It has the basic scheme but has crudely applied paint in brush strokes over the top.
    Place in the MiG3s24 folder found in  '1C Game Studios/IL2-Sturmovik Battle of..../data/graphics/skins' folder.

  21. 110e Sea and night schemes

    Two skins for the 110E. Both are generic schemes at the moment until I have worked on getting wrap around nose art on them. One is a night scheme, the other is night with sea green upper surfaces used during the Channel Dash in 1942.
