  1. yes I turned off my mods, and I saw loads of servers listed.

truth is my eyesight and the limits of VR really dont make it viable for me to fly with no icons. on DD games I just have a simple dot, I dont need the HUD or speed bar, or any other info, just a dot is good enough to keep track of my target and make spotting a little easier.
Ive run this game with no VR on the res my comp can handle and the difference in resolution etc is extreme.

so i can see how a Track-IR player will boss that kind of scenario any day of the week.

The main issue I fin on VR is other planes at a certain distance appear as a black dot, and the shape shifts as well, so to identify anything you need to be about 300 metres away, and thats no good for gaining an advantageous position as you just advertise yourself by getting too close.

I dont mind mass Furballs, I actually quite enjoy them, I actually perform better in mass battles than 1 on 1.  im better at picking targets I can beat rather than manouvering to gain an advantage and to outsmart my opponent.

I use DF servers mainly to hone my combat skills, rather than get immersion out of a mission.
I have the 1p campaigns and Dogz nights for that.

  2. ok so after our Co-op session last night, i decided to look at a few DF servers, can anyone recommend some good ones?

the issue I had was I couldnt find any at all with any sort of icons. so as a VR player I was at a serious disadvantage, and basically had my ass handed to me pretty much exclusively, I spent half my time flying round trying to identify anything I came across.
and anyone who does VR will know, that trying to track a target that is camoflaged by snow, or forests etc... is extremely difficult on VR due to the resolution.

I had hoped to find at least 1 decent WW2 and one decent WW1. while the servers I tried were good, I do seriously need those icons.

Just wondered if anyone knew of any so I dont need to spend half an evening jumping in and out of servers. of course it also doesnt help that you cant actually add any servers as favourites, at least no that I know of.

    thanks in advance.

Also, apologies my flying totally sucked ass last night. just couldnt get into the groove.

£12 grand for that wreck? Sounds like someone doesn't want the expense of scrapping the thing

I'm more intrigued by the aircraft behind the Mig, two wheel main gear? About the only thing I can think of like that is the Viggen

They all look like MIG21's to me Jabo. theres just 3 of them lined up. the tail fins all look indentical in shape. Judging by the photo and climate it looks like they are parked up somewhere in Eastern Europe.

  4. as far fetched and stupid as it sounds, many years ago I saw some photos of a guy who had built a gaming rig using the front of a jet aircraft he mounted his PC and all the gear inside the cockpit, and used to play flight sims sitting in it. lol

this one would require a fair bit of work though. oh and divorce papers would likely be served shortly afterwards

  6. yeah I liked the look of the split throttle on the X56 I have to say, but it did appear to have very few trigger buttons on the back of the head. for bombs/rockets etc... favouring hat switches instead.
mind you Im sure things like bombs can be mapped to the throttle device.

and yes that hat switch on the thumb looks quite nice too.

comparing the X52 and X56, the 56 has switches for modes rather than buttons, and may be easier to use witrh VR, not being able to see what you are doing...
unless you commit it to memory when you flip a mode.

I think either would prove a marked improvement to what i currently have.

For USB, I am looking at this one...

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0797NWDCB/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=A1S41JW81H0D20&psc=1

    Mainly because I
use a drawing tablet and other divices for work, plus it would be cool to be able to charge my vape at my comp desk too. 7 ports is more than enough.

  7. Also, I am running low on USB ports, what would you recommend as a USB Bank/Hub to get? that wont lose power or fuck about mid flight?
A couple of the jacks on my PC are broken as the box is nearly 15 years old. so with my VR,  headset, joystick, keyboard etc.... I have very little room.

  8. Ok Im in the market for a new flightstick, I was looking at the Thrustmaster T16000 Hotas but there appears to be precisely zero in stock anywhere in the universe.

whats everyones view on the Saitek X56?

What stick do you use for BOS? and why would you recommend? and I need recommendations for sticks that are currently available, I know a lot of you use sidewinders, but you just cant get them anymore.

Now bare in mind this is what I currently use, so its not going to be difficult to top...
its now a bit old and beat up, and has a twitchy rudder

I like twist handle yaw, rather than foot pedals, I have ants in my pants and cant keep my feet still when flying.

Budget im looking at about £220 max.

More importantly which sticks should I Avoid?
