The whole scambaiter thing was pulled off brilliantly, but I especially like Shiver MeTimbers' Photoshop work.

Yipes, you guys are speed merchants!

Nice, Bongo. Very sharp-looking cockpit in the Lear 45.
-
Bongo, which Lear do you fly and how high can it get? I've heard a Lear is close to fighter performance.
-
Wow, that's cool. Never heard the "blue note" before. Anyone who doesn't like jets should take a look at a Hunter, one of the prettiest airplanes around.
Bongo, that's great you fly a Stearman. Nice!
-
Hi Bongo, it was a 767-400. Crossing altitude depends mostly on our weight, but we usually cross anywhere between 32000-37000. Yes, sometimes you can avoid a headwind by climbing.

Took a few shots of the instrument panel during our eastbound Atlantic crossing Friday night. In the second photo, in the upper left corner of the nav display "GS626 TAS463 288/174" is ground speed 626 knots, true air speed 463 knots, wind from 288 degrees at 174 knots. With that nice tailwind, we arrived in Rome in record time. Of course, coming home the next day was another story....

Nobody was hurt. The video was faked by splicing in multiple shots. Some discussion here:

Latvian, Estonian, and Romanian man walk into Russian bar. Russian bartender say,"Good evening, comrades! I make deal with you: I put mystery drink in shot glass. If you can make guess of what drink is, you get 15 minutes alone in back room with Olga. What say, comrades?" All three men happy agree to bet. So, Russian bartender set shot glass in front of each man, grab bottle from shelf, and pour mystery drink. Estonian take first shot and say, "Hmm, is taste like..." and Estonian man is fall over dead from stool. Romanian man take shot next and say, "Hmm, is taste like..." and Romanian is fall over dead from stool. Latvian man is take shot and say, "Hmm, is taste like...water runoff from nuclear power plant!" "Very good, comrade, you guess right! Here is key, go in back. Olga is waiting." Latvian man is so excite, as wife die from malnourish long ago and hasn't had goat around either because nobody in Latvia have goat. Latvian man unlock door, room is dark. He turn on light and see Olga. Only Olga not sexy Russian woman; Olga large, hungry wolf-dog. Olga attack Latvian man, kill and eat him. Is good, because suffering now over.

Thanks, all. I guess it makes sense that all that whirling engine mass would have a strong effect. Pinning the tail down does help. I need a lot of practice, which is fine because I really enjoy tooling around in these old birds, watching the scenery and listening to those great engine sounds.
That YouTube vid was really good. Great information there.

Guys, I need your thoughts on landing technique. I can do fair three-point landings in some of the ROF birds (SE-5, Fokker D8, DH4), but the Fokker Triplane (and others) need to be wheeled on. Even then, I often lose directional control near the end of the landing roll, even when landing directly into the wind. I have the toughest time with the Nieuport 11, which usually swerves to the right as it slows. Any suggestions?

I think it was Pogo who said "We have met the enemy and he is us."
I was poking around in the controls screen today and found the ailerons were assigned multiple times. I unchecked the additional boxes and the problem is solved, I think.
Thoroughly enjoying this sim, especially the graphics and flight modelling. Now if I could just figure out how to land the Fokker D-VIII without breaking it.....

It's the Su-25T that came as a freebie with DCS World. Nice summary you wrote, must have been a lot of work!
-
Thanks. Seems best to wait for a sale. Played with the Su-25 again this morning. Sure is an interesting little beast. I like those funky wingtip airbrakes and the braking 'chute.
-
Downloaded DCS World today and tried it out. Floundered around a while in the Su-25 and after a few tries was able to land it without leaving airplane parts all over the runway. That is a sweet little aircraft.
So what do you guys recommend next.....A-10, Huey, or something else? I'm tempted to just wait until DCS has another one of their half price sales.

Nice, Tonar!

Looks fun! Is the DCS series very demanding of computer hardware?
