  1. Thank our lucky stars He's not Japanese!!!! ;)

That reminds me of a mildly amusing story. I was working for a computer manufacturing company staffed by administrative staff, in part who knew nothing about computers. One of the accounting women was telling me how she was helping her daughter with some homework the previous night. They were looking on the internet for pictures of other kids her daughters age from around the world to use in her report. So... (I guess you can see where this is going by now!) ... they typed in their google search for Japanese Schoolgirls thinking they would get some nice innocent pictures for her to use in her report.

I rolled my eyes at her. She looked, and told me with a completely straight face what she found, and asked me if the internet was always like that?

I told her that I had heard it sometimes could be.

  2. Harrison Salisbury! Great - epic -definitive book (Just skip over the Russian poetry parts!)

I think they didn't swallow up Finland at the end of the war because there was no need to. If the USSR wanted something from Finland, resources, concession, etc they would get it. Finland signed a pact with USSR at the end of the war stating that while they were not allied with the USSR, if an attack on the USSR passed through Finland, then Finland would resist and repulse it. The term became known as Finlandization and is sometimes applied to Canada and our participation in North American Defence (I.E. NORAD, DEW Line etc.) In Finland and Canada's case geography dictated policy. One disgruntled Canadian diplomat disparagingly remarked that "we are all stuck on our flypaper".

  3. I posted this over on the UBI boards - but in case you were interested - and don't frequent the UBI boards... I thought I'd spam this up here.

Here it is. It is in German - no subtitles, so if you don't understand the language enjoy the picture. The file in total is over 600 meg. You will need winrar to uncompress it. (google for it!)

There is a password on this.

  4. A final note. No it didn't quite work out with the settings turned down. Stop errors etc.

So I was doen for Thursday, and this morning I poped in a new video card.

At least for the weekend I am running an ATI X1600 with 512 ram.

So far it is great, but I have the option to switch to an Nvidia 3700gs by my supplier, which I may do. But so far all is well again at Chez Waldo. Thanks.

  5. Did you completely remove the drivers, and run driver cleaner?

Indeed I did Roger. The only other thing I can think to try is to install the card on another computer and see if the problem migrates to that computer. I have a pretty strong suspicion that it will. So strong in fact that I don't think I shall bother.

The temps are within normal range as well. I think it just plain broke. Seems that way anyway.

  7. Honestly, you know what! The last I knew anyway that model may not be legal in Canada. If the rotor is belt driven I remember that being a no-no. If the main rotor it is a pure unpowered autogyro it is fine. At one time my Brother was a Helicopter pilot. As much as I like them, safe, no stall etc etc. Its not really what I am after.

When you do sell it how much do you think you will realize?
