Is it something that you can just pop in and out of when your time permits or does it have to be schedualed and time put aside for specific times.

I want to fly better learn, but I don't really have a large chunk of time to put aside. Heck I hope I can get an hour in with you guy tonight.

I used to be a member many years ago and have decided to get flying again.  I have both IL2 Sturmovik and Cliffs of Dover that I've downloaded through Steam. However, I'm having a few problems, the main one being that my Saitek X52 Hotas controller is not "recognised" by either program, so I'm unable to even do basic flying.

Would be really grateful for some help with this so I can get up flying again.

FT- Do I need to have IL2 installed before Checkmods can do anything, or will it do everything for me?

Should say so long it was fun IL2, we will always have fond memories and just put my efforts to CLOD or some such other Dog approved simulation? I remember the days of the Dogfight ladder or leading half the Dogz to their deaths as commander Tonar-san for the IJN.

Open Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools\Advanced Tools  then open Resource Monitor.

All your cores should be displayed - see if any are marked as parked.

I had a couple of old power supplies here, a few screws took out the fans. I had to cut the (2 wire) connections and solder them into a main bus plug. Stress tested this over London attacking a dozen bombers and the GPU temp never went over 50C.

I suspect that my loosing planes from system crashes is over.  That didn't stop me from loosing another Spit last night.... bounced by an unseen human escort over He111's.

On an interesting side note... if you use an LED flashlight to inspect fans the frequency of the LED can match your fan's speed exactly and give a strobe effect making it look like the fan is stationary. Use something OTHER than your finger to see if the fan is actually stopped.  I'm sure I don't have to elaborate how I know this exquisite little detail.

I cant remember what it is called... can anyone help?

after last night coops i realize that my joy settings are useless, not proper assign or many of the commands are making me lose a lot of time online, which puts me in disadvantage always, cause i waste a lot of time searching.

Can you guys, using the SAITEK X52, give me a hand and advice or if u don't mind, some of your settings, so that i can see what i need or not.

I do not know where the DDz and HHz stand...

What rev/mod is used ... what is new???

I know I can now change the brightness of the gun sight, but can I set the default level to its lowest (which seems to be 2) to sort of simulate having to turn it on ala CLOD?

Is there a line I can add to the [Mod] section of the ini?

All going well so far.  New box up and running, IL2 patched to 7.0.1.  Then i hit a problem

I have no perfect setting.  IL2 installed on E:/Games drive, 32 bit colour on, stencil buffer on.

 When I check conf.ini I see that openGL hardware shaders = 0.  I can edit it to 1, but after loading game it's set itself back to 0.  I've even copied to flash drive, edited and copied back - still won't stick!

System:

MSI Z87 G45 mobo

i5 4670k cpu

8GB 1600 ram

win 7 home 64 bit

and an Nvidia GTX 460, courtesy of Sid (thanks mate, arrived this morning.  That's a Duxford beer or two for you......)

  Whenever I am flying online I find that my plane is having less performance than the similar ones. I tried it several times only to make sure it wasn't related to fine tuning of the plane. Shortly - if I fly alongside the same aircraft using exactly the same settings ( fuel, payload, throttle, pitch, rads, trims - the whole bunch) I am slightly (but noticeable) loosing against it. The same applies when climbing or turning...

Can that be related to the performance of my computer ? or is it me doing ?

Oh, by the way ...I will not take "buy a new computer" for an answer ...or maybe I should start saving some money ...I forgot to mention i'm running XP

This is driving me crazy. Anyone got any ideas?

During yesterdays North Africa event, my map disappead. Without giving away any information of critical art, I tried to drag the map as far as possible in either direction (left/right) but it did not let me doing that. I was in Navigator Mode where the map is very wide. When I tried to pull the map with both mouse keys, it did not drag the whole map on my screen, but then It worked to have a look futhest right/left. As soon I let both mous keys go, the map zoomed out to a minmum and reset itself to the middle somewhere.

After trying this over again, in vein, I tried to use Normal Mode, but then my map disappeared. So, I had to fly two hours without my mini map.

Today I fired up UP3 RC4 again and tried Quick mission plus the North Africa map again, but map is still gone. When I hit the key to show the map, I can only see the cursor, nothing else. I have tried to scroll and drag outside the screen but nothing happen. It works in 4.11.

Anyone?
