I know we have a video of this display already a few posts back but I found another with slightly steadier camera work and a bit less wind noise and thought you chaps might like to see it...

BEAUTIFUL!

Interesting choice of wheeler landing and long, fast, tail-high roll-out.

No sound on this one, but rare footage indeed.

An epic scene from the 1987 movie "Empire of the sun" with a young Christian Bale watching incoming low flying P-51s. Some real flying compared to Red tails.

P-51 cadillac of the sky!

One of my favourite films for aerial sequences, featuring the late great Mark and Ray Hanna.

Ray is the pilot waving at Christian Bale's character.

Wow.

I wanted to join the navy when I was seventeen.  I wanted the chance to wave a little blue flag with the letter B on it.  I wanted to join the pilot line to the guide hawsers and chock the pulleys.

I could have done it. I could have been a contender. I could have been the ticket man at Fulham Broadway station.

They turned me down.......sigh:roadrage:

Thank gawd!:thumbsu:

On a slightly more serious note;  yeah, how the hell did they manage all that in any sort of a sea?:o

True Sweper, very true.

I do get a bit twitchy though seeing aircraft been flown as low as that - it does seem like gambling on a huge number of things not going wrong, any one of which could reduce the aircraft to scrap in an instant - let alone the pilot and/or spectators.

Probably just me...

Moaning, groaning and panting in high G-turns. Yes, I know it is a jet but watching this vid in full screen mode made me almost reach for the pizza bag :) Limited to 9-G by software(?)

SAAB test pilot flying over Linköping.
