Windows 7 Activation

Reinstalled Windows 7 about a week ago and now I get a message from Microshat saying that I have to activate Windows. But when I try to enter my product code I get a message that certain characters are invalid. To be precise it will not recognize a 1 or an 0

I hate Windows 7.

Any thoughts.

Thats why my IL2 puter still runs XP. Hell I still have puters that I use daily that run Win 98 & Win 3.11. Only my laptop is Vista and I don't even try to run games on that.

Hope you sort out your problem soon, I hate being hung up with puter problems.

Are you certain you have the right code Jim? (daft question I know but the XP key follows same format)

The product key should be 5 groups of 5 each separated by a '-':

e.g. 1ab2b-2ab3b-3ab4b-4ab5b-5ab5b

So the message actually says '1' and '0' (zero) are invalid characters?

Coincidence or not, I have a lot of keys (too many to count) for XP through 2011 plus Office etc, and none of them have a 0,1,L or O.. possibly because they can be mistaken when lower case letters are used?

Are you sure they're 1's amd 0's Jim? I don't know that MS use those characters in their product keys.

+1 - I was looking up all my TechNet keys to confirm :)

Don't think they would be L, I (eye) or O either
