2. Administrators fruitbat Posted April 10, 2011 2. Administrators Share Posted April 10, 2011 Hi guys, i stumbled across this thread over at simhq, http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3265101/Performance_improvement_mod_s_.html#Post3265101 and it really makes a huge difference on my system, it makes it actually playable, so much smoother and higher frames to boot. both myself and jedi have used it, and it really does work. its a little bit tricky , but tomorrow i'll write a 'how to do'. Zooly
Since doing the fix it seems the G-50 has disappeared from all selection screens, any ideas?
Blairgowrie
No difference for me! Still get 40frames over water.
2. Administrators fruitbat Posted April 10, 2011 Author 2. Administrators Share Posted April 10, 2011 what do you get over land. if it hasn't increased then something is most likely not correct.
DD_Arthur
Couldn't launch game Replaced original Launcher.exe.config and could launch game Fruitbat is it important that the files are in the order as shown in your illustration? The modded launcher.exe.config would place itself above the raf roundel whereas the original always went under the roundel. I must be doing something wrong. No noticeable increase in games performance. But at least by replacing original Launcher.exe.config I haven't buggered my game up, er, anymore than 1C have buggered it anyway! 1. DDz Quorum Pooka Posted April 11, 2011 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted April 11, 2011 I think its more of just turning some applications down or off. The ground was a lot more detailed prior but still looks pretty good.
2. Administrators fruitbat Posted April 11, 2011 Author 2. Administrators Share Posted April 11, 2011 yeah, pooka's right, it works threefold, one mod reduces the size of some of the texture size, one disables mipmaps, and one disables ssao. glad you got it working BG. arthur, are you still on win xp, or 7 now? shouldn't make a diff where the files go in the actual folder, but since its the same name should auto go in the same place..... Shadrach
It certainly works for me - it's a different game. My only prob is that I am in Satan's spotlight on or near the ground but I have found a post which says which files to remove to cure that. Kev, I'm on lovely all singing, all dancing Win.7 64bit. Got it loaded on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Loaded up CloD and Wow! It lives. Spent most of a very sunny Sunday fiddling with it so I'm in the doghouse wiv' 'er indoors at the moment On Easter hols now so will have another fiddle with this mod later on tonight. My main concern is my old faithful Saitek Cyborg 3d force. It seems to need a dose of Viagra. I know FF isn't supported by CloD (what a joke) but it's given my stick a vasectomy. Very impressed by CloD though. It's gonna be fantastic in a couple of years. Looking forward to FW190 and P47 'pits with this level of detail. Oh yeah, Friar; if you're reading this; I pre-ordered the bog standard boxed DVD at the beginning of March but it didn't arrive in time for the launch. Very decently UBI sent me a free code to download the game off Steam. It works fine. Last week the boxed game turned up in the post. I've tried loading it but Steam over-rides it and I can't load it. It's sitting here now. Doing nothing. Unused. Looking for a home. I've got the game and I'm happy. It's f.o.c. m8, Interested?
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted April 11, 2011 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted April 11, 2011 @Arthur That is a very generous offer, and one that typifies the "Spirit of the Dogz" if I may say so. I'll drop you a PM .....
Blairgowrie
Cranked my CPU up to 3.7 from 3.2 but don't see any difference in frame rates
Zooly
Its the graphic card that takes almost all of the load at this moment in time so I doubt any overclocking of the CPU will make any real difference yet, hopefully this will change in the future. Blairgowrie
I think I will leave it overclocked. May help il2 response when I am hosting.
Zooly
I admit to recently overclocking my CPU and RAM and its has been effective in other games but not CLoD

BadAim
The whole thing is a bit.....unbalanced......at the moment. It seems that Clod is bottlenecking at the Graphics card, but that may be caused by the way the graphics are handled by the processor. (as evidenced by the latest patch) things will be a little wierd for a while yet, but I expect the improvements to go much faster with so many people doing the beta testing (there, I said it). DD_Arthur
Is the mod I've got installed going to conflict with the new patch when Steam does it's thing, d'ye think?

Allegedly Steam will overwrite But I could be wrong... It may not alter the shorcut which means a manual edit to turn the mod off.
2. Administrators Jabo Posted April 16, 2011 2. Administrators Share Posted April 16, 2011 Before loading the beta I used Steam to revert the game files to their original state, just to be on the safe side. Jabo
