So if it was successful, why didn't they carry it on as normal? I guess just one Herc would tie up an entire carrier, and nothing else could launch or land till the Fat Albert buggered off?

Good question, I think you have a valid point though.

Imagine if they were way out to sea and the 130 went U/S on the deck. Where would you put it?! lol.

Great skill from the pilots in question, especially as they had no previous experience on type, or any multi engined type at all!

This was on the USS Forrestal I think, they needed a new aircraft for at sea replenishment and cargo hauling. While aweosome, the herky bird was not suited for carrier ops (It could not be stowed below decks). They then came up with the C2 Greyhound COD, while smaller is equally awesome
