Book Recomendation

Here are some quotes from "Palace Cobra" a fighter pilot in the Vietnam air war.

I'm almost finished with this book and I would recommend this book to anyone interested in this time period.

Author is Ed Rasimus and in this book he is on his 2nd tour of Vietnam with a 5 year stretch between tours.

On his first tour he flew 105's and now on his 2nd he transitioned to F4's. He talks about his abbreviated training

in the F4 and in 1 paragraph: "As the daily news reported attacks on airfields, transportation facilities, fuel storage dumps, and other targets, we were going to the gunnery range, dropping 25-pound blue practice bombs in 10-, 20-, and 30-degree dive bomb attacks. The important issue for qualification to go to war was that bombs released from the aircraft would hit somewhere on the face of the earth."

Also this at the start of a chapter: "The aircraft G-limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular airplane. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no G-limits." by Frank Chubba, fighter pilot.

It's not just a book about flying but his live there with the other crewmembers he flies with while in Thailand. I also see that he has a first book out about his 105 flying which I will look for.

After reading "Chickenhawk" I had a great understanding of helicopter flight. I would recommend it to anyone remotely interested in choppers.

"About Face" - this is a leader of men.

A Rumor of War - disturbing but it certainly left an impression.

Basic flight?

Stick and Rudder simply CAN'T be beat.

Say it like it is Enforcer57..This game does the American planes unjustly like the F-6...But its still the best game of WWII Planes out there...There are some books on that and others that are worth reading....
