1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted July 29, 2007 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted July 29, 2007 having successfully installed a new cpu, other thing Quazi advised was to upgrade my sound card with one that has its own processor. I have taken his advice and purchased a soundblaster audigy 2 pci card. I will be swapping out a standard soundblaster pci card. Delta7 has adived in the tail end of my cpu thread to install it in the "bottom slot" because of icq issues. Would dave or someone else please explain the best way of deinstalling a standard pci sound card and replacing it with one that has an onboard processor. Crash
Good afternoon frior. I suggest that you go into control panel-system-hardware tab - device manager and uninstall the driver from there. click on the + by the sound thing. Then install the new drivers plug the card in and it shoul find and install when you boot.Good luck.
delta7
crashs advice is fine - in more detail- 1) download the latest drivers from the creative site http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/ on first page select your card on second page where it says "file type" just select driver and store somewhere like desktop 2)go to start-settings-control panel-system-hardware-device manager-left click + at sound, video and game controllers right click on your card and select uninstall 3)switch off the computer as normal
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted July 29, 2007 Author 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted July 29, 2007 Gentlemen of the DangerDogz, I salute you ! Many thanks for the hits and tips, they are very much appriciated. I am the type of person that would rather do a few weeks of research and asking simple questions than just go and do it and have to spend hours trying to sort things out afterwards. Your patience and advice is very welcome. S! Frior.
