guitarman68
After having the T/R 3 Pro for sometime i was still suffering dead spots when flying, more so when i was trying to see what was behind me( which i spend most of my time doing ).So i decide to upgrade to the vector exspansion clip hoping this would sort out the problem, although it was a bit better i still had problems. Then after seeing a demo video of the pro clip of i thought i had nothing to lose, i ordered it on monday it arrived on wednesday i took 2 minutes to install and setup and its the dogs do da's.What a difference no more hat and better still i can now see whats shooting the s**t out of the back of my aircraft.Well worth the 29 english pounds it cost. Tonar
what is the pro clip? an LED? I had the same problem with the single dot. I found the the angle of the reflective dot was to great at the far sides for the TIR to pick up. so I just moved the Track IR endpoints in so it was max sooner. Tonar
Pretty cool, But It does need to be wireless. why couldn't they put a little battery in it? I am sticking with my single dot on my hat brim. I got it working fine. Nice review Dave

Fireman
I am now using the Vector expansion clip (very nice if I must say so).... However, prior to that all I had was the aTrackIR3pro.
Okie
Here is a pic of my active LED set up. Uses the same parts as Angus's except I boxed it up and used some carbon fiber tubing to put the LED in. It works very well. I've been using it for a couple of years now. I made one for BG and Bun-Bun also. With the LED 5ft. away from the Tir it tracks very well. And yes it does make you look like an Uber-Geek with it on!

Cold_Gambler
Here are some plans, with materials listed, for making 4 LED IR clip: http://n.camil.chez-alice.fr/index.php For a TIR4-type software called Freetrack: http://n.camil.chez-alice.fr/index.php I read about on SimHQ here: http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2218532&page=1&fpart=1 I have not tried this software as I already have a TIR1 which still works just fine for me, but I may give it a try once Oleg's BoB is released with 6 DoF. Birdy
~S~ All My name is Birdy, I have just past Joint-Ops basic flight school with a fellow class mate ( Guitarman) and, although I am a new member to this squad, I have read this post with regards to Trackir. I have seen some images from members of your squad with their homemade head tracker systems and thought you might like to take a look at mine along with a demo of it in operation. I used this as a valuable aid to my training and, if price was affordable trackir would be an option but money is tight and this cost a lot less, only £5 max. so if you are tight on dosh and want headtracking take a look at this, there are links to pictures and the headtracker site. Oh there is also a ntrk recording of a familiar airfield to many of you and please don't be too critical of my, cough, splutter, chokes on words lol. flying or landing techniques as this just to demonstrate it's potential. So feel free to give me some feedback http://www.zshare.net/image/4302260c2c9481/ http://www.zshare.net/image/43023205be7da4/ http://www.zshare.net/image/43023492226909/ http://www.zshare.net/image/430239632e3f27/ http://www.zshare.net/download/43029750f0f2b1/ http://freetrack.online.fr/english/

Logos
~S~ Birdy mate. Congratulations on your training in Joint-Ops. I have just completed Intermediate pilot School and will be going on to Advanced Pilot School eventually. Great bunch of trainers and pilots at J-O. Many in our squadron have gone through BFS and some are continuing onward in their training. A few are even instructors in our squadrons. As far as TR4 is concerned I got it shortly after getting IL2 1946. I can't fly without it. I have actually mapped certain commands to the hat switch that moves your view so I am really screwed up if I forget to activate it before entering the game. Nice to here from you and this forum is a good place to ask questions and get suggestions for technical stuff pertaining to IL2 ect.
