thoughts on 4.071

I was just wondering what the views were on the latest patch? I have only tried out a limited planeset so was wondering what others felt about their fav rides.

I think it has balanced things up quite a bit - the fw has improved and so has the 109 while the spit has been toned down a bit. I used to feel really safe in a spit on warclouds but my record recently has been poor. The p47 and p-51 seem better too.

I think the 50cals have been improved and also the fws hitting power, but Im not sure about spits.

I can play 4.04m, 4.05m. 4.07m , without a disk in my machine but I'm still a little unsure of the best way to go from where I am now ?

yeah that bar is bizarre

clearly it was top on Kurt Tanks listof priorities when he designed the TA183 cockpit.

other than that i think 4.07 is the absolute nuts

so much variety, and i like the fact its closed source, i mean most of the grips we have a really subtle comparisons of aircraft, but at least its the same general standard

the way i did it was from a tip in the ubizoo. it enables me to use the french switcher but i go from 4.05 to 4.071

I originally installed 1946 into its own, new folder and not on top of 4.05

1. I downloaded the patch.

2. created an empty folder on my desktop

3. unziped the patch into that folder

4. there will be one called files.sfs

What I did was:

Copied the folder il2_ver07 and called il2_ver071.

As you I copied the 4071 files.sfs into this new folder and overwrote the existing one.

I copied the file FB ver 07.bat and called it FB ver 071.bat and made the following alteration (alterations can be done by right clicking the file and selecting Edit this will open Notepad:

Original:

xcopy *.* "E:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\" /Y
cd E:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

New:

@echo OFF

xcopy *.* "E:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\" /Y
cd E:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946
exit

I just added the 1 to the end of line 2.

Now right click the FB ver 071.bat file and select Send To -> Dekstop and you have a shortcut link.

I didn't notice a difference between 4.07 and 4.071.
