  1. I am not surprised, I know how you like your San's FOV changer.
  2. OK, finished my download last nite. I see some are posting problems with it already, is everybody experiencing problems of one sort or another or is it just a few people? I don’t have much time to fiddle so if this is full of problems I can set it aside till some of it gets sorted out.
  3. Mine is as well, what's with that? Is that normal for Torrent? I have only downloaded 2 other files with Torrent before.
  4. It's OK, I know all too well of what you speak. BTW, I took no offense.
  5. True, true. I am addressing things that exist already like the wings coming off 190s at a dive speed that would not have had the same result in real documented life. We don't need any more stuff like that. Yes things can be debatable away from documentation, though that don't exist for every issue. I vote for documentation, not play balance. I am amazed at times with all the effort that goes into making a sim, a good one anyways and I am grateful for that. Yeah your right, I can't hop into a Tempest, but this is where I hope to experience the next best thing otherwise I should go brush off Chuck Yeager's Air Combat.
  6. All this is good but is it going to make the sim more Historical in behaviour. I have been reading mixed reviews of what is supposed to be coming out. New planes and stuff is fine but if flight and damage models have been toyed with for the sake of "play balance" then its not a move forward and one that I would not likely follow.
  7. So I take it Torrent will be slow the first little while because so few people will have it on their systems to feed others, is that right?
  8. I will keep at it, thanks everybody for all your help. I just find it a little discouraging to have to be dealing with joystick issues when there is so much other stuff I should be spending my time learning. Especially when I didn’t have these issues with the X45 but alas so be it.
  9. Yes I am beginning to see that. I played with settings at one time before I set them back to stock settings, Found it made a difference when doing ground attack, I was flying into the ground because I was used to how it was responding before and I would have to re-learn how to fly it with the new settings. Which seems to bring me to the point I am seeing, you all learn to fly to the settings you decide on. Someone else could fly your settings if they had the practice. Too bad the sim did not come with recommended settings for each plane so that they would respond like the original ones did, then we could learn to fly a 109 like a 109 flew in regards to joystick control (to a degree as all joysticks are not created equal) And that is basically at issue, the stick, not the settings or how I fly the stick, that has not changed, the stick has. So I am presented with having to modify the settings so it behaves like the old stick so I don`t have to re-learn how I fly the stick or just learn how this stick flys to my setting as they are. Is my reasoning correct? Toad, thanks for the settings.
  10. Ok, Elevator start at 60, Aileron start at 70. Then should I just divide evenly the remaining balance of 40 & 30 for the remaining settings. This is assuming that you only use the starting number only once and not for several setting locations, Found articles online on setup, will use them as guides as well. Why did you start with the first settings so high? Is this because you wanted your initial input on stick to be that sensitive in response?
  11. I have heard of it. Thing is even with the stock controls in IL2 I would be unsure of what changes I should be making to get BETTER results. Could be the settings are fine, I may just have to get used to this stick and not push it. Thing is right or wrong I would be left feeling that this is a touchy stick as compaired to the X45 and I would be unsure if I would be realizing a control improvement or not.
  12. Ok, I did not change the input values for the stick, its still the same as the X45. Is this a case of modifying input values? My values for the stick are the ones that are standard with the sim. I did tinker with it once but ended up restoring it to original values. At the moment using the FFB I feel like I am holding back in manoeuvres for fear of stalling and I think as a result have lost manoeuvrability. And what’s with not being able to recover from a spin in a 109? Neutral stick, full rudder in oposite direction of spin, right?
  13. Ok, finally got serious and hooked up and configured buttons in sim for the MSFFB2 and gave it a go. The short version of what happened is by end of the evening I had my X45 stick back connected to the sim. Now I am sure someone will explain to me what it is I was doing wrong which is great because I am sure I must be at fault. I found the stick more accurate for use in the gunnery department, at least that is what my impression is in that regard. The problem was all the stalling and lack of good steady control of nose of aircraft during banked turns. I usually fly the 109 and hardly ever stall it while flying, banked turns or otherwise. Many of the stalls and resulting spins were un-recoverable which is again unusual because the times I stalled and spun previously I would be able to recover from unless I was really close to the ground. Now by banked turns I mean serious banked turns, but ones I could do before with different results. Is it simply that the X45 stick at max aileron an elevator banked turn was less of a banked turn than preformed with the FFB stick and so I was getting into a circumstance that I was not getting into before? Even a simple loop seemed to bleed off more speed than before. I know some of you guys used the X45 and the X52 probably had the same characteristics as the X45, did you notice a difference in the flight characteristics of the aircraft after using the FFB?
  14. I have saved that info to my IL2 stuff directory, will track that down and have a look at it. Have basic MSFFB working with X45 unit, will fly it tonight to check it out. No force feedback for now. Baby steps; have to learn the buttons again. Would have preferred the hat switch in lower position rather than fire button, but what do I know.
  15. Sounds good to me. I see you can't do the 2 fingers on stick flying as it don't cover the sensor. I guess with FFB that would not be a good idea anyways. So to change gun feedback settings, is that in a config file?
  16. Yes I am sure it's popular in this crowd. How did you get this on DVD?
  17. That is great but this is still my favourite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEnOeITKZAA
  18. Happy Birthday Fenrir. I hope you have a great day and by the sounds of it an even more enjoyable weekend!!
  19. LOL, I hope so, I am pretty thick headed at times.
  20. Really! I thought that was the main point of getting the stick LOL. I didn't realize that the stick was that accurate as a control device as compared to other sticks that it would be desired for that reason alone. I know I will be giving up buttons that I am used to having on my stick to use it.
  21. Thanks for the info on setup. I have a wireless router so I guess I will need the extra step to have someone connect. Can`t really practice wingman situations with only the AI and I would like to work on that. I fly with the Dogz, I frequent a few Hyperlobby servers regularly, and do a little campaign type flying against other online groups with JG27. Been watching comments from various places about this Scorched Earth Campaign thing, looks interesting and I think as I get better (that will still take time) I would like to get into. I am starting Joint Ops June training which will start the beginning of the month. But really when it comes down to it I fly mainly offline, the 109 being my plane of choice, creating training scenarios with full real settings so I can also practice Nav and aircraft identification as well.
  22. I have to spend some time in this section as I like the looks of some of the topic titles but in the mean time I have a question. I have figured out how to build a simple co-op mission, I can launch it, select my plane slot and fly but how do I get someone else to join me. Is it a simple matter of giving someone my IP address or is it more complex than that?
  23. Have not had a chance to toy with it again. What little free time I get I try and fly rather than set things up. Yes, I know I am bad. Been thinking though, without any software do you have any control over how the force feedback reacts. I want it mainly for flight characteristics and not so much shaking all over when the guns are firing; my gunnery is not that good yet. I would think that without software of some kind you would get just what you would get, with no ability to adjust.
  24. Is AutoHotkey110000_Install the proper one to use?
  25. Have plugged the stick in and it seems to work fine. I have to figure out what to do to get the X45 throttle working, at the moment the Throttle is just acting as a button bay, the throttle, rudder are not responding at all. The throttle on base of MSFFB is actuating throttle in sim as well as twist of stick is actuating rudder and that’s not how I want it. Will I be able to sort this out in the control assignment part of the sim? What is Joystick 1, Joystick 2 etc. all about?
