  1. We've done "tank nights" a few times - some observations. Spawn points need to be close to each other -10 min driving is little fun when you get killed right away. Spawn points need to be out of direct sight of the enemy- protected either by buildings or over a ridge I suspect you will want to limit aircraft participation ... at least till you can spawn in your own mobile AAA gun
  2. Will add a new dimension to the take-off. ... pilot gestures. Good work!! 🤞 🖖🖕🤏🤙
  3. FT is simply trying to avoid his turn at having to lead the 402nd. He may just have a case of the jitters and be in need of a vacation. I'll volunteer to lead 402nd and take that off your plate. Failing that we may schedule a chat with the Wing Commander regarding a LMF issue.
  4. He seems to have gotten teamspeak sorted out yesterday so we'll be able to get some stick time in tonight
  5. Good - a bunch of us fly most nights, 11ish pm EST time. On the public teamspeak. Do you have that info?

    Kimo

Does that mean he's already a git in the cockpit? No advanced training required?
  7. ha! Can't enable or disable mods with the confg on read only. Have to change the file permissions to swap.
  8. Heh, I made a copy of the original startup.cfg and put it beside the IL2 icon on desktop.... till Windows rearranges everything for me anyway.
  9. This is probably only good till the next patch but it seems to help me. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/64638-magic-spotting-settings/?tab=comments#comment-989500
  10. Strange... I joined the server... crashed a Spit. Back on the main screen I would normally hit the flag and leave current aircraft but anything I do on the main screen gives me the Windows "already busy with something else" sound. I have to leave server via task manager. Rejoin the server and same thing. Can't use any tab on the main screen, same sound. I have to leave server via task manager. I join another server, all works as it should. Back to the Dogs server and still the same situation. I have to leave server via task manager. Confused
  11. Saiteks are about the best in the under $200 range but Crosswinds are about 5 times as good for twice the price of the Saiteks
  12. I did a search of the forums for controller issues and found damn little. This thread appears to be related https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/62290-i-need-help-please/?tab=comments#comment-961436 heh... or not... he had a loose wire
  13. Heh, not exactly.... the "E" key will still stop the engines once running. You'll want to have more altitude than I did if you try this.
  14. Confirmed. If you hit the button twice it's fuel off, engines stop. No presses of the "E" key after that have any effect, HOWEVER, if you then use the RCtrl +1 and RCtrl + 2 (default start/stop for engines one and two) they will fire up.
  15. I like to use toms guides as a start when looking for hardware. Search "tom's guide gaming monitor" and see what they say
  16. I don't know what to make of this but I know the creator is a well respected military analyst and podcaster. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1198050/War_Remains_Dan_Carlin_Presents_an_Immersive_Memory His podcasts are some of the best stuff I've ever heard. The Hardcore History WW1 series called Blueprint for Armageddon is about 20 hours and riveting. Oh.... and free. https://www.dancarlin.com/hardcore-history-series/ Current series is on the rise of Japan pre-WW2 - Supernova in the East.
  17. Over across the pond we often join a server with AI online to play. There are a few with icons (usually simplified engine management as well) and later you can up the game too others with no icons. They're interesting objective based missions with the added intrigue of the (very) occasional breather. A gaggle of Dogz would have no trouble controlling the sky and a dogfight gets everyone back in the action. Shooting star server (Normal and expert servers) and the Unprofessionals come to mind immediately, I'm sure there are others
  18. Thanks all for the help. I have a reprieve of sorts. I only had 9 MB (of 250) space left on my SSD. I'm told its very bad to have an SSD more than about 75% full. Ordered a 500MB SATA 2.5 inch. My mobo is just a bit too old to take full advantage of an NVMe stick... by the time I can use one a 10 TB will be $20 Moved DCS bloatware (88mb?) to the storage drive. DCS seems to run OK, just takes a long time to load.
  19. SATA is 6 mb/s. Each path in a PCI 4 slot is also 6 mb so your HD is now working on 24 mb/s if you support the NVMe format and all your stuff plays nice. Probably noticeable in something like DCS. In my case ... probably not
  20. This board is just before the M.2 slot came about. PCI slots are faster data transfer than SATA and this type of drive cools better than an enclosed SATA drive = faster speed and longer life. Apparently there are adapters > M.2 to PCI-e .... still investigating..
  21. So I have a Asus P8Z68-V mobo. My small (250) SSD is almost full. I have empty PCI slots that I could plug in an SSD. However, I think I can't boot from PCI slot SSD but I'm thinking I leave the O/S on the drive I have now, migrate games over to the PCI slot drive and run from there. Does this make sense? 22. Set up that old 24" monitor as a second and display it there.
