  1. Thats interesting FT but is it worth splitting up the set? Is there something wrong with the stick? I'd feel rather better if you e-bayed it to recover some of your outlay. Edit; Just seen what you did with the stick part of it in another thread. O.K. Could be interesting. I'd need Jabo's Bodnar board to make the connection between throttle and 'puter? What about a power supply? Hmmm......gonna need a soldering iron with a bit more finesse. And plastic lunch box for the Bodnar board, no?
  2. Have at last managed to get my hands on a Microsoft force feed back stick. Am now looking to go the whole-hog and get a throttle so I can have trim on a slider, extra buttons, etc. Anyone got a throttle from a Saitek X45 or X52 going spare? I'm ready to make a generous(ish) Xmas offer for it!!
  3. Whats so interesting? Looked like a fairly average bunch of paratroopers to me. Yawn.

    Happy birthday, chief.
  5. Lets see, nine o'clock in the evening here so quite a few must now be succumbing to a Turkey, beer and football induced snooze! Hope y'all enjoying Thanksgiving.
  6. Ah....is this the time to say "Happy birthday" Mayhem!?
  7. I think thats an excellent idea. Lets do it all together. I must admit I don't have any problem with this approach as these days I only fire up 1946 in order to fly with the Dogz.
  8. Fantastic picture Streaks. How many birds did you bag this day?
  9. Hi Leon, I can see from your screen shots that you've got everything to the max at the moment. You've got a pretty decent system there that should give really nice results with CLoD. First of all just check that you are running the latest version of CLoD. You should be showing version 1.05.15950. I'm sure you are, Steam is pretty reliable. To get a measure of frame rates bring up a quick mission. When its running and you're in cockpit press Q to bring up the console commands. Now type in fps START SHOW and press enter to bring up the ingame frame counter. When flying, get rid of the mirror immediately. It does nothing at the moment and you will see an immediate gain of 5 - 15 fps, depending on your system. Now go into the video menu and bring up the options. Have you got trackir btw? Set your resolution to your monitors native resolution and your refresh rate to that of your screen too. Set anti-aliasing to 2. Again, this is another feature that does not work at the moment. Make sure the anti-epilepsy filter is unchecked. Uncheck the SASSOA thingy too. Once again, this is a feature that did work but is now no longer needed. Vysinc? Depends on whether you have trackir. If you have then put it on but it's worth experimenting with. This is air combat so who gives a shit what the ground looks like? Leave those beautiful shadows on and effects to high but reduce all the ground 'enhancements' to low and then see how you get on. That means land detail to low, building detail and frequency to low, trees to low, roads off, grass off, etc and see how you get on. What would be nice in a future patch would be to have the option to disable ground shadows whilst retaining cockpit shading. Look at all those trees and the blobby shadows they cast. Thats eating up your systems resources for no useful reason. Fly around and see how smooth you run the game and what fps you are getting and then start turning the effects back up until you reach that compromise between eye candy and game performance that you can live with. Flying with CEM off will give you better frame rates but once you've got to grips with the basics I'd try and fly with it on as much as possible as online it's mandatory and there is something rather satisfying in having mastered it. Nothing too difficult either it's just that each 'plane has it's own method. Can't think of too much else at the 'mo as I'm on my lappy not my game machine. Good luck and have fun.
  10. Excellent! I always like to read reviews of the graphic card I'll be using in three years time
  11. Nice deep funk hole. 'Bout 3' deep so you can sleep in it too. Also, if you do cop one your mates can just fill it in without too much hassle.
  12. We'll be flying whatever the server demands Asus. The most populated ones are full-real as in no externals, no icons and full CEM. However, it ain't that difficult m8 Join us on Wednesday and we'll get you going. Just make sure you've assigned controls for radiator, prop pitch, mixture and prop pitch automation. The Repka Steppe server gets my vote. They've made a really nice script for the a.i. which gives plenty of bomber intercept and escort for both sides, action at a decent height and the Steppe map gives good opportunities to form up, work out tactics for attack or defence and strafe a few of the buggers on the way home if you've got any ammo or airframe left. Good ping too. The other alternative is the ATAG channel map which is so-so at the moment (my opinion entirely). Bomber groups are less frequent which means harder to find on the large map so people fly lower which is just daft. At low level this sim performs and looks poorest. I've been on this server several times with some thirty other people, crossed the channel at three to four thousand metres, seen no one, come down to five hundred metres and found all the action over Hawkinge or Calais-Marck only. Given the choice to climb and search for sometimes phantom dots or vulch at fifty feet and lots of people seem to choose the latter all the time.
  13. If the gun is pointed down......you're doing it wrong anyways. You could be in trouble if it's fitted with that burst-selector gubbins that Uncle Sam likes.
  14. I'm bored with all this chicks with guns stuff. I wanna see chicks, in their underwear, with anti-tank weapons. Thats something I know about.
  15. Must....resist......even more flight sims......must........resist............................
  16. @Rox; yeah, she caught the rear light bracket of the lorry. Nice lorry driver calmed her down, pointed out no damage to his vehicle and put the door skin in the boot for her and kicked the door back into place so she could drive it home. @Rog; it's got a broken electric mirror, a scrape starting in front wing, along front passenger door and on into rear quarter panel which is also slightly deformed. Looks like hinge-pillar damage too when the door skin got ripped off. Also central locking and interior lights no working which means the windows won't work (haven't tried 'em) which means the bloody control box under the front seats has gone u/s again. I think we're talking over a grands worth of parts and labour (ex vat) and I think the cars book value is probably in the £1400 region. If that. It's a gonna.
  17. Just drove into town to pick up her new glasses. Met a parked lorry on the way home. I think we might have a peripheral vision issue here Pity, it was a good old barrow. It's carted us all 'round Europe reliably these last ten years with all kinds of stuff thrown into it. An eleven year old 1.8l Passat estate? I think they'll write it off. Glad I just spent over £400 having a new cam-belt fitted. She can have my horrible hairdresser of a car Ford Focus and I'm gonna get myself a cheapie VW diesel Golf that'll do 50 to the gallon. Thank heavens for protected no claims bonusses.
  18. Wow! You know you're getting old when your eldest son is older than a B-29 pilot.
  19. Well you would, wouldn't you? Look at this; And even this; Just outstanding pictures Snacko Absolutely fantastic. I reckon Ansell Addams would appreciate 'em. These are from your trip with the family this Fall? Where is this? I've seen pics of the farm before. The top one is my new desk top background
  20. Very nice to see you round here DT.
  21. Yeah, yeah. Heard that sort of stuff so often before. I live about 8 miles from a WW2 airfield where rumour has it hundreds of jeeps and Harley's were buried after the end of lend-lease. No ones ever found any of this "buried" stuff in the UK, mainly 'cause it don't exist. Why would you bother to bury an aeroplane? It's a fragile thing made of light-weight materials. Simply drive a truck through it and cart the debris off to the smelter. Simples.
  22. What happend here, Mayhem? Smacked off both your wingtips ground taxying!? Downloadable content? Got a link to this historically "interesting" clipped wing mk I Spit?
