    Reinstalled...

I have taken the plunge and have reinstalled the Open World beta.... I am looking to fly a limited planeset though....Vietnam era. I have the Huey, Skyhawk mod, Bronco mod and am waiting for the Skyraider to appear. C130 will be an exception, and of course the Osprey when that appears First landing...second approach...Wire #1
  2. Which install....one....both....how big are they?
  3. https://stormbirds.blog/2022/09/02/dcs-c-130j-headlines-new-dcs-world-dev-update/ Especially for tanker....SAR....and gunship. If they did an Osprey then that would be a no brainer. Now, let's just check to see if they do a Skyraider....well.....whadya know....
  4. It gets released officially a few weeks after the vehicle. It gets done by 'IDCP' as an official template. People have requested templates of new releases but they are asked to be patient and wait for the official release.
  5. Dimensions and weights etc. are similar but physically they are quite different. Not just a case of a different bodywork mod in the drop down list really. MkIV MkVII
  6. North england....Derby/Manchester/Yorkshire maybe...not clear
  7. There is a good question, and answer, on the forums that needs passing on. Bear in mind that this applies to QMB missions, not online 'Multiplayer', aircraft tactical codes in that scenario will be down to the mission builder to select. Basically, in QMB if you want an RAF skinned Spitfire to display RAF codes you need to select the RAF skin BEFORE you get to the hangar. Use the 'Settings' spanner to choose it. Don't know how this affects Syn_Vander mission builder, haven't looked at it yet. Regingrave's answer works, I've checked it. It works for other aircraft like the A20 and P40.
  8. Some interesting conversations going on over on the GBS forums....based on the last Developer Diary and an interview here . Of course, any views and comments are personal and probably conjecture but it does make for interesting reading. Apparently the next module is going to be 'prop-based', won't require large urban areas and will bring something new to the game. It won't be Pacific (even though they would like to), won't have carriers and won't be 4 engined bombers (the game engine CAN do them but the time to build one good bomber is equivalent to the time taken to build ONE BoX module). 'Battle of Sicily' is coming up a lot because it fits the criteria above. Torpedos, recce, Italian Air Force are all new to the game. I think that scenario would be great. However, another 'Battle' possibility that is making people go 'Hmmm' and 'Maybe....' and I think has great potential is.....Korea. Fits the criteria too. 'Battle of Bodenplat' is prop based but still introduced jets...Korea could too. Korea without carriers (initially....?) could work. What a wonderful planeset it would bring.... Late Yaks and LAs IL 10 MiG 15? Bearcat Tigercat F51 Corsair Sea Fury? Sabre? Meteor? A26 Invader Hornet? Helicopters And so on.... Watcha think?
  9. Now if they did a proper Herc, like a gunship, or an Osprey then I would be back

    Blairgowrie Day!

    Cheers and Salute Jim!!
  11. Yes, some, just RPM, boost, mixture and supercharger. I don't use the photo replacement now as some are in awkward places. I know others that don't use them too but hey, it's a resource.
  12. A one sheet printable reference for all aircraft except jets. No excuses now.....
  13. Version 1.0.0

A printable summary on one sheet of the engine settings for all the BoX aircraft, not jets. A great app found here No more questions now chaps.....
  14. A great night...thanks Friar for the missions. Issues smissues....good missions. Last one, A20 factory bombing with escort, proved to be one of the best. Great drops All landed too Thanks for your company boys 👍 Not wanting to exclude Beagle, Artie, Delta and Friar...I got a good close up of Ben, Crash and me on our way home..
  15. I noticed the Russian lady. The Mark IV we are getting is the most numerous built and quite a few were lend lease to Russia, fighting at Kursk and Prokorhovka. The Normandy version is the better one, the Mark VII, a much better armoured and different beast that didn't appear until 1944. The Dieppe raid used Mark IIIs and North Africa and Italy were also Mark IIIs. Not to say there weren't any modified and used latterly but I don't think the Churchill we are getting is for westernising the Bodenplat or Normandy maps I'm afraid. Makes me think that TC 2 could be Battle of Kursk.
  16. Getting to grips with reflectivity on the skins....the metal is starting to look convincing I think. A skin for one of my favourite aircraft, the MiG3. Natural metal with aluminium painted wooden surfaces. A Git production using the official template.

  18. I know control setups are a very personal thing and it depends very much on what gear you have but I am starting this post in case someone finds it useful.... As always, any setup should be seen as a work in progress and is subject to change because of the new key mappings that come along with new aircraft. I think the GBS controls setup is doing well at the moment because of the number of key mappings that can be combined eg. many of the aircraft cooling systems can be combined, like cowl flaps, water rads and oil rads on one mapping. One thing I have found very useful over time is to keep as many, if not all, of the key mappings as default and add extra in the columns next to the default keys available in the settings. I have an all-Saitek setup. It works for me. X52 Pro, rudder pedals and 4 quadrants. The X52 has 3 modes. I use the first one for flying, second for tank crew and third for miscellaneous. There is some overlap with key mappings because some tank crew mappings also activate aircraft systems eg. tank visor/periscope controls are the same mappings as the AR234 dive bombing settings - I don't think it's an issue because I don't imagine we will need to setup a Tiger or a Sherman to dive bomb anything.....although, Dogz being Dogz! The dive bombing settings are being used more now because the Me410 will also use them in some way as more sights and systems are introduced into the game. I have one Saitek profile for each of the pieces of equipment in GBS except the rudder pedals, that doesn't need one. I have attached an uncluttered piccie of the equipment setup and the settings for GBS and Tank Crew (second page only used) as documents. If nothing else, it could serve as a guide as to what can be combined etc. Current 4 quadrant GBS controls.docx Current GBS Tank controls.docx
  19. Unfortunately I won't be there chaps. Looking forward to the September Duxford, hoping to meet up there!
  20. Thanks Col, that height is good. Could you add some wind at that height please, 3m/s...direction doesn't matter, or make wind on the map random.
